Decorating your resort room?

I have never had a problem with decorating, tho I must say I NEVER use tape, clings yes, suction cups yes. NEVER do any thing that would leave a mark or in anyway damage Disney property. I mostly use clings, have something sitting on the window ledge and at Christmas will have a 3ft tree sitting on the table which I move in front of the window. I have done lights, but only plug them in when I am in the room. So far I have never been told to take them down.

I did hear once where someone used window paints and that is a big NO NO.

I do keep in step with either the theme of the resort or the holiday and I clean after myself. I consider the decorations and planning part of my fun, so I hope Disney continues to allow this as long as we respect Disney property. Sure hope the rules have not changed.

For those of you who decorate your windows and doors while at Disney, what do you do? I read on disboards about someone who put a dry erase board on their door. Has anyone done that? Does it get good response? I wondered what was allowed and not allowed.

While we've yet to decorate the door, each time we've been we decorate the window(s) and the room(s). This last time, as two of the Grandsons and myself joined The Pirates League, the theme was...wait for it...Pirates! pirate:

We hung the Jolly Roger flag, displayed our costumes in the windows (rotating them each evening so all had a chance to be on display) gold doubloons and other pirate party favors were scattered around the room (in a manner not to upset mousekeeping of course), and of course we drank frosty mugs of Grog (root beer and other sodas combined)! :stir:

Hi am still trying to read all posts so I am sorry if I am repeating someone else, I have tried decorating my room (or door) at each resort I have stayed at. I had a lot of luck at POR but not so much at the deluxes with sign in sheets. Nobody from mousekeeping complained but I only use things that are temporary. I am guessing if you want a sign in sheet on your door more people walk by at the mods and values since the doors are outside. Last year I was thinking of posting my floor and asking Dissers to sign but I worried about posting my room online. Good luck all with your decorating and I hope you enjoy your trips

My mom and I have decorated at POR and CSR. We have never had any issues with mousekeeping or management.
I have used Disney gel gems-which peel off without any residue or stain. I have also hung up Home Depot Mickey heads that I made into garland-I used the magic removeable tape stuck to the wooden frame. It also peeled off without any stains. I have used scrapbook paper too. This year we are at CSR again and I have some cardboard Halloween decorations (we will be there in Sept) and I have some more Home Depot Mickey heads to make into garland.
We love to decorate because it's pretty and MAINLY because it helps us find our room after a long day at the parks. :lmao:
Good luck and happy decorating! I would be glad to answer any questions if you have them.

Is the room/window/door decorating done at all resorts? We are staying at Coronado Springs so I wonder if it's done there? It sounds like lots of fun and I know that my dd would enjoy it. :)

We stayed at CSR last year and decorated our room. We just used the window for decorations and it wasn't an issue. It was fun and helpful when it came to finding our room. :thumbsup2
We are staying there again this Sept and plan on decorating again.

Oh that's great news! What sort of decorations did you use? I picked up some princess window clings so far but that's all.

I sent you a PM explaining everything we did and used.
Hope it helps. Have a great trip

I'm also wanting to know which resort! How sad and disappointing :(

Does anyone know if All Star Movies are normally ok for decorating?

This was at the All Star Sports. We were there with a large dance company and several of them tried to decorate, but it all had to come down.

Does anyone know if you can find window clings with a summer theme? We will be there in August and all I've seen so far are holiday ones.

There may be some at Christmas Tree Shop or Target. They are both usually good at seasonal stuff.

For all you decorating the windows, don't forget to pack double-sided tape! It makes window hanging much easier. I leave it in my suitcase :-) Also we have packed an extra power cord so we can use lights. My mom also packs a timer for her lights and suction-cup hooks to hang them on her window. (I use tape).

Happy decorating! :cheer2:

I've heard tape is a big NO-NO. For me, I wouldn't bother with it...as I don't want to clean up the residue off the window.

hehe....I havent started my fall countdown yet. Too excited about the Easter trip! Walgreens and Kmart are usually the best places for Disney items in Michigan. Also the Disney store at GLC.

Since we're arriving on Memorial Day weekend, I'm decorating with a red, white, & blue theme. On the outside of the door I'll have a tribute to our fallen servicemen and women, along with other patriotic decorations. I may also include a magnetic write-on, wipe-off board.

The window decorations will have a red, white, & blue theme also, with the exception of the window clings. I'll use whichever clings I find at the stores! Right now I have Toy Story clings which I bought at a Family Dollar Store for $1. As an added DISer bonus, they have lots of lime green in them! I hope to find one more sheet of clings with other characters. I'd love to find Cars clings!

Anyway, I made a poster for our window that says "We're Celebrating!" and glued on stars that tell our various celebrations: "Happy 15th Birthday, W___!", "Congratulations, T___! Class of 2001", etc. I'll laminate it.

I found and printed out some Disney printables for a patriotic celebratory garland and strung them on blue yarn. We'll put some of our Disney character toys on the window sill.

I'm excited about our fun, inexpensive decorations! Hope this give others some ideas! :yay:

We are going the same time (we are arriving on the 28th) I am planning on red, white and blue decorations along with some others ones I have created. I hadn't even thought about the character clings....I might have to be on the lookout. I love your "we're Celebrating" poster idea! Which resort are you staying at?

This is something I have never thought of doing. Now I'm on the hunt for something really cute!! I love this idea!!
