Decorating hotel door?

I do remember reading some posts, maybe about a year ago, where some of the resorts were asking people to take decorations down, or they were charging a special cleaning fee, or something like that. Does anyone else remember this, and which resort it was? Seems to me it was one of the values, but I'm fuzzy on the details.

I believe it was at POP, but only because they had used some chalk to write on the windows that leaves a residue. People have asked both management and also housekeeping at all levels of resorts and have been told they are fine with decorating, as long as you don't use anything that would deface the property or leave anything that would cause the housekeepers extra work. Put it up, be careful what you use to put it up, and clean up well before you leave.

Does anyone have a link to where I can get the Disney stick figure people made...I looked all over the Dis Creative board and I can't find it.

~*~Michelle~*~This is the name of the Diser who made my stick people. It was a over a year ago, so I am not sure if she still does it.

I am staying Port Orleans Riverside, when I made my reservation I asked if I could decorate the door and if it was metal, they said to both.

I love seeing the decorated doors and windows.

At Pop, we saw people leaving stuffed Disney animals and little figurines lined up along the window ledge. That looked very untacky. We were inspired and left my daughter's Lady (from Lady and the Tramp) in our window. It was like she greeted us every time we returned to the room.

Well aren't you pleasant! :)
Boy do I wish I was YOUR neighbor on vacation! hmmmm:scratchin..where are my musical, flashing, dancing:banana:, multicolored christmas lights...i know i have one of those wreaths that comes to life and sings "Jingle Bells' everytime someone walks by it, somewhere in my closet...:idea:well if nothing else I have the dancing/singing fish that I can take off the living room wall for the week.....

Talk about being just plain Nasty. While the post you reference could have been less offensive, your post is a personal Attack!!! Nasty.

While I think the "tacky" comment could have been worded a little better, I would have to agree that I prefer not to see a lot of decorations on the doors of resorts with interior hallways. I don't mind the window decorating so much, but something about decorating the doors just detracts from the resort ambiance for me. Maybe because the door occupies "shared" space, while the window is technically "private" space. But, it's not my room, and it's not my door, so there's not a whole lot I can do about it. To each his/her own.

I agree.
I believe DVC has asked guests, which does include renters, to not decorate outside spaces.

There's not much point in resurrecting a seven year old argument, so I'm going to close this.
