Deck 2 vs 5 on the Magic

I personally would pick deck 2 over deck 5 any day. We have stayed midship and aft, and have never had any sound issues at all. I love staying near the aft elevators on deck 2. It's so handy to be able to go straight up to deck 11 for the drink stations, and you can go straight down one flight of stairs to get off at port, and no waiting around for the elevator when you get back onboard as one flight up and your there. $300 more for deck 5 is a really good deal, but I personally would stick with deck 2 and keep the cash to spend onboard.

We stayed here on our last cruise (by the aft elevators on deck 2) and LOVED it! And we were very biased towards the middle decks. We had never stayed below deck 5 and only stayed on deck 2 because that was the only deck where we could get connecting rooms.

Just curious as we board the Magic in a week *squeal* were the sewage issues you referenced also aft? We are forward and almost mid on deck 2 so curious :)

Thanks,
Heather
Yes, just aft of the aft elevators. The impression I got was that while it wasn't common, it also wasn't a one-off experience. Apparently it happened on the Transatlantic as well. They were very good at cleaning and sanitising it immediately.

We love deck 2 as well. Have stayed on deck 2 on the Magic (2092) and on the Dream (2020 & 2022) and never had an issue with noise or vibrations. Good luck with your choice!

Loved deck 2 on the WBTA. Will be sailing again on deck 2 for Hawaii. We have one of the larger staterooms this time, a little more forward than last year. Can't wait.

I think your tickers a little off because we won't be getting off the first Hawaii cruise until the until the 17th.:). We will be on deck 2 for the first time. At the moment I need a vacation so bad they could stick me in a closet and I would be happy.

I arrive in Hawaii a few days before the 17th! I'm counting that as part of my trip.

We stayed in 5644 on EBTA 14, loved the location and had no noise issues at all. However we stayed in 5122 for EBTA 15 and it was the worst cabin for noise I have ever been in (this was cruise no. 11) there was a noise every 5 minutes that woke us up as we started to drift off. This together with the noise below from crew cleaning the life boats and walking deck which went on late into the night and started again at 4am. We were later told the noise we heard at 5 min intervals was a hydraulic pump.
We had cabin 2519 a few years ago an had no noise issues but it was a long walk up to Topsiders (as it was then) as we never use the lift while cruising

We've tried almost every deck, 2-11, on the four ships. While we mostly book "upstairs" these days, we're booked on deck 2 for our 12 night Norway/Iceland next summer. We travel with two staterooms and we're "saving" $5120 for the same size staterooms on deck 2 vs deck 7 (cat 9b vs cat 9a!) For that money, my room can shake, rattle and roll and I won't care! ;-) And, btw, when we told the kids we were going deck 2 they both responded with "Yes! Love deck 2. So, convenient for ports, shops, lobby and restaurants!" :-)

I have been on deck 2 and 5 recently. Had the worst experience with noise I have ever had on a Disney ship last month. were we in 5122.

Deck 2 on the DM is terrible, engine noise, vibration, claustrophobic, deck 5 is far better, do good they put the kids clubs there as its in the most perfect location.
