Still deciding on our summer cruise plans. Four adults in one stateroom.

How bad is Deck 1 on the Magic? Yes, I know, it's better than not being on the Magic :earboy2:
I read the thread about Deck 2 vs Deck 6, but last year the vibrations were really bad Aft on Deck 2 on the Wonder.

They're the cheapest rooms, which means more money for excursions... but a good night's rest is important as well.

Our choices are:
* Standard Inside Stateroom - Forward on Deck 6 (we have been on Deck 6 on the Dream and loved it, but it's small)
* Deluxe Inside Stateroom - Aft on Deck 2 for the same price (vibrations?, but more space)
* Deluxe Inside Stateroom - Mid on Deck 2 for a slightly higher price (less vibrations, but a connecting room)
* Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom - Forward on Deck 1 for again a slightly higher price (more space and natural light)

So, in short, a small room on Deck 6, a larger but nosier room on Deck 2 (unless vibrations are not a problem on the Magic), or a larger room on Deck 1.

I'd go aft or mid! That's just me. On both the Magic and Wonder, there was an oily smell in the front of the ship. That bothered me much more than the vibrations ever did. I was on deck 2, way forward on the Magic, and sometimes the smell drove me out of the stateroom. People I talked to said it was the norm.

We were on deck 5, aft, on the Wonder, and yes there were vibrations, but never anything too bad. Not sure how it would be three decks down...

I would opt for the ocenview on deck 1 forward. Natural light & a view is nice, so the oceanview on deck 1 would be my first choice.

I would avoid a connecting stateroom as I've heard they can get pretty noisy on the classics, and I would avoid deck 2 aft- that's just too close to the engines for my taste.

We've stayed mid on deck 2 on the magic and it was great, no motion, no vibrations. Connecting room isn't a big deal, we had our kids beside us and with the door closed, couldn't hear them. Forward you get a lot of rolling movement.

If the standard inside on deck six is a sideways room, that might feel a little bit roomier than the other standards. It's actually the same size, but the layout makes it feel a little bigger. The big drawback to that is not having the split bath. The other categories that you're looking at do offer a split bath. The ocean view room on deck one has the small portholes, so not the big porthole that iis easy to see out of.

Since you're traveling with four adults, some of the adults might want to consider using the gym area for showering.

Thanks for reminding me of that. A split bath with 4 adults would be beneficial. (we're not morning people, so going else where for a shower won't happen)
Wait... the size difference between the standard and deluxe inside, is part of that also a bigger living space or is the only difference a larger bathroom?

With four adults I wouldn't do a standard inside stateroom. It won't be comfortable.

Well, I'll let you know, as we have two connecting inside rooms on Deck 1 for our upcoming July cruise! There's not a lot out there about Deck 1. I think it's because there are so few, comparatively speaking, rooms on that deck as compared to all other decks. I have stayed on Deck 2 on a Royal Caribbean cruise and it was fine, no problems. I have, however, read several negative reviews of Deck 2 aft for both Magic and Wonder.

I think you're right. We've put the standard inside stateroom on the list as last choice. So far I got the most votes for the Deck 2 midship Deluxe Inside Stateroom, while I've heard some negative comments about connecting rooms on other threads, I think with our budget that's the room we're gonna go with.

We are cruises who reqularly get sea sick. When we sailed on the Magic for the first time (8 nights) we did deck 1, inside stateroom, mid ship. I'll be honest, once the ship started rocking at dinner time and we needed to leave the dining room in a hurry, deck 1 was the place to be!! Little motion and quiet. I see no reason not to book deck 1, ever!
