Decisions with a car rental...

So here's the scoop: We've finally decided on dates and all that good stuff. Now the issue is to rent a car and for how long.
We are planning on going to Universal, so we at least need a car for two-three days. (Transfers with Mears would not work due to their time pickup schedule on the return.) The issue I guess is that should I rent for our full stay, or just for the two-three days that I need it for? Our stay is from 9/30-10/8. We really don't "need" a car for the full stay...
If I rent for our full stay, a Midsize SUV with Alamo is $159.52, round trip airport rental.
If I rent for four days from either the Dolphin or Car Care Center, I'm looking at a rate of $95.72 for a 4 Door Compact Car.
So there's my problem and here's my questions.
Does the Dolphin or the Car Care Center DELIVER to the resorts? If they do, do we have to take the driver back? Should I just get a taxi to take us between Disney and Universal? What would a taxi run? I've never driven around Orlando AT ALL.
What would you do? :moped:

I have an Entertainment book and have looked up both Alamo (at the Dolphin) and National at the CCC. I have gotten a much better rate using the CCC/National. If you are staying on property they will come and get you and shuttle you back upon drop-off. Be sure to check National's rates! We have our car from 3/28-4/3 and it is costing us $198.

As of now, National is more expensive for my rental dates. Does Alamo also offer pick up and drop off services? Is that only at the CCC or the Dolphin as well?

Alamo and National offer the same pu/do services as they are owned by the same parent company. And only the CCC has a shuttle. The Dolphin is within walking/boat distance of Epcot and MGM - I find it easier to go there since I can go to the parks, then head over (before 4pm) and pick up my car at my leisure!!!

HTH!!!

Well, I think I made a decision. :) I've made a reservation for pickup at the airport with Alamo, and dropping of the day before we leave at the WDW Dolphin resort. That way I can still experience Magical Express (thus not having to worry about making it to the airport on time!) and still have the car for the full stay if needed. Currently I have a midsize SUV for $149 with taxes. I don't think that's bad for a week...and a compact car was more!

Also I thought I read somewhere that Alamo/National charges you $25 each way to pick up/drop off you to the CCC...is this true?
