Decided to Cross Over to the Darkside

Chances are, you will find that there is no fiasco at WDW. Most people criticizing and claiming they are DONE have not actually used the system.

I have been to Universal and thought it was okay. It's an upscale Six Flags.

I would say if they go down calling it a fiasco then they will probably not have a good time

If this is what your Six Flags parks look like, I'm definitely going to the wrong ones.

OP- I bet your kids like Universal better than Disney anyhow...it will be you who misses WDW. At least that is how it is with my family. Did UO for the first time last year and my boys thought it was a lot more fun than WDW. The rides were much edgier and more thrilling for them. It was me who missed WDW...partly for sentimental reasons but also the vibe is a lot classier in Disney. But kids care about neither of these :)

Oh, and please don't pay attention to the rude people who questioned your posting. That's what a *forum* is for and if you don't like it just move on. I find it so rude when people who don't like an opinion try to make a poster look foolish.

I have a feeling that you will be right! I am the biggest Disney fan in the house!!!

And thank you for your kind words... :goodvibes

On our last Orlando trip, we found Universal goo gobs more "magical" than Disney. If you are a Harry Potter fan, it's heaven. If your children love thrill rides, it's heaven. If you enjoy staying in a deluxe hotel for the price of a Disney moderate, and enjoy never having to wait in line because you have a literal FP for everything, (except the Forbidden Journey, and they let you in an hour early so you don't need one), it's pure nirvana. :thumbsup2

I hope you have a great trip. This is our last WDW vacation as well. Universal is a better value for my money, and has more things my child wants to do.

I support you guys choosing to go to UO- it is a great park- I haven't been there since 2008 but I remember it fondly- I loved it as a teenager. I hope you have many wonderful vacations there. I just wonder what your motivation is for coming onto a WDW forum to tell people that you don't want to go to WDW? I believe that there are Universal forums that you could post on and you would not get some of the hostile responses...

In sports, if you go on a message board for a rival team and proclaim your love for another team, you are either trying to insight a riot, trolling, or talking smack, etc.

I would never go on a Universal message board and proclaim my love for Disney... I would never go on a Cardinals forum and proclaim the superiority of the Cubs... I would never go on an Apple forum and say I'm only buying Microsoft products... It just doesn't make sense to me...:confused3

Well, conversely, I don't understand why as an ardent WDW kool-aid drinker, you are bothering to comment on a Universal thread. Or any obviously anti-FP+ thread for that matter.

You ask an excellent question... I am on the Disboards every day...even if I don't post often. I guess I just feel like I belong here. I will still come back every day, even if I don't have a trip planned - even to go to the Community Board or to check out how FP+ is coming along. I love Disney - just not what is happening at the moment. I posted this to join in with my fellow DisBoard members to share with them how I felt with the changes... and how I am taking my $$$ elsewhere for now... people can like it or not - agree with me or not....

I also hope these boards are being monitored by someone at Disney.... maybe, just maybe, they will see that one more family is spending their vacation dollars elsewhere... if I posted this on a Universal message board, they may never see it. Who knows one more post may matter... :goodvibes

However, the disboards have WDW, DL, Universal Orlando and Seaworld forums, so it is very easy for people who just generally have a love of all themeparks to be hopping around between those forums but staying on the same board.

Fair enough- thank you for the honest answer. Much better than...

Well, conversely, I don't understand why as an ardent WDW kool-aid drinker, you are bothering to comment on a Universal thread. Or any obviously anti-FP+ thread for that matter.

...this which is kind of what I thought I would get as a response. You can call me an ardent WDW kool-aid drinker if you want. I am on a Disney forum... I've taken over 40 vacations to WDW in my life, they are some of the best moments of my life- time spent with family and friends that can never be replaced. That being said I would much rather vacation to Disney today than at any other period in the past- does that make me a kool-aid drinker? Probably. That doesn't mean I don't know why people would go somewhere else- I don't take all of my vacations to WDW nor will I ever- there are too many other places to see in the world.

The title of this forum is "Theme Park Attractions and Strategies" under the "Disney Trip Planning" forum title. When I respond to an anti-FP+ thread I try to give people a strategy for dealing with FP changes, since legacy is most certainly not coming back. When I respond to this thread it's because I honestly wanted to know the answer to my question. Based on your response I know how you feel and I look forward to seeing you stay away from any positive FP+ from now on.

However, the disboards have WDW, DL, Universal Orlando and Seaworld forums, so it is very easy for people who just generally have a love of all themeparks to be hopping around between those forums but staying on the same board.

So you're saying they accidentally post these threads on the Disney section instead of the UO section?

I'm sorry but this is one of the most absurd comments I have read here in a good long while. It's in fact hard to take anything you say about Universal seriously after reading it.

There is nothing even remotely Six Flags about Universal.

We just returned from WDW and FP+ worked quite fine. Posting yet another silly, dramatic, end of the world, gloom and doom about how you could never ever set foot in WDW now due to FP+ is just attention seeking and juvenile. Sorry.

Actually I think our longest wait was at Simpson's with FOTL vs anything at WDW last week.

And you are allowed to have you opinion... and are not there in the middle of the summer crowds and heat....If you enjoyed only having 3 FP's, that's great! I am happy that your trip was magical. I am used to having way more than that.

Be prepared to be told that your opinion does not matter- just because you've experienced the system doesn't mean that you actually can have an opinion about it (especially since you had a positive experience)- it will cause the end of the world as we know it during President's Day (then when WDW doesn't implode) during Spring Break (when WDW continues bringing in satisfied guests) during the summer and the 4th (when people keep having great vacations) during Thanksgiving, then Christmas... Eventually these doom and gloom threads will disappear, just like the doom and gloom threads about everything else that these boards have overreacted to.

I hope that you are correct! I have been on the Boards since 2008 and this is not my first "rodeo." I have seen changes and hysteria on the Boards, but this is the first thing that has really cause me pause... This is the first time I have said wait, this really might be something I might want to wait and see about. I've never said I am not EVER going back... all I said was that I changed my summer trip and am not going back until things are sorted out.... I would like the tiers to be changed and more FP's.... Hopefully, that will come...

We were planning to come to the Motherland in July but I just can't wrap my head around FP+. This is not the way we vacation. Three FP's is not enough... the tiers are just crazy, and I have a feeling the lines will not be any better (if not worse) by the summer.

Look, we love Disney and have spent many great vacations (and lots of $$$) there... but we only take one big family vacation a year so we have to make it count. I'm sure no one is going to care that we are going to Universal (and one less family will make the lines shorter for some else!) however, I really do hope that Disney gets this FP+ situation sorted so we can go back! (I know.... some people love it... but I don't like the way it stands now and will not be back...)

Please note that the OP did not say "I am never going back to WDW", nor did they say that FP+ is evil, horrible, ruining Disney or anything like that. This is a person who feels that, because of how they tour and their children's current age and interests, they don't want to take a chance on the changes at WDW due to the fact they only take one big vacation per year. The OP is hopeful the situation is sorted out so they CAN go back.
