Decided on location--Now what??

We have decided on an intimate at the WP. I am confused as to when we can apply the deposit, confirm the date and sign the contract.

Our planner told me 8 mths but it seems to me some of you have been able to have your dates "pencilled in" it sooner than that. Am i just confused??
 
When I talked to my planner on the phone I was kinda asking about being "pencilled in" for my date and she just stated that they do not book until one year out for outdoor locations and then indoor locations (like the WP) is not until 8 months out. But I was also wondering about this whole being pencilled in thing b/c it seems like many people have been able to do this???
 
Theme park locations (as well as a few others) go to contract at 12 months out, all other locations at 8 months out but typically everyone gets penciled in at 12 months out.
 
Is the process the same for signing the contract and everything then? It gets signed, deposit is made and we are pencilled in until 8mths out when we can be confirmed??
 

I'm curious about this as well.

I had called DFTW back in late July, and was told I could call back the first of October to start the process for my October of 07 wedding (WP).

But a lot of what I read here, and on DFTW website seems to conflict with what I was told on the phone.

I have my deposit ready to go, and ready and willing to book our hotel reservations. I just got off the phone with DF telling him how excited I was about being able to finally make reservations next week, now I'm worried I'll be waiting until January.
 
I am planning an August 2007 intimate wedding at the pavilion and Dorreen told me it is not possible to be penciled in. She said I have to wait until December to call her which is 8 months out from the date!

I wondered the same thing when I first started a few months ago, so I have been posting the step by step process as I go for others who have similar questions if you want to take a look :) :) Congrats on getting started!
 
Custom weddings are 12 months out.

Intimate weddings (which is what I did) are 8 months out. When that time comes, you call DFW and place your deposit over the phone. At that time your date/time is held. You will be given a confirmation number at that time, too. Since last year the hotel was included in the package....I'm not sure if you still get a confirmation at the time of your deposit because the confirmation number was your hotel confirmation. ????

About a 2 -3 days or a week later for some, you will get a phone call from DFW confirming your date/time and your event coordinator.

Once you are contacted by your event coordinator, they send out a info packet; which includes general information about the package you have selected. It will also give you pricing on additional elements. It was useful but most of the information is now found on the disneyweddings website.

You are basically on your own (nothing is really happening) until 4 -6 weeks when you submit your planning kit. Once the coordinator rec'vs they will finalize about 2 weeks out and you will get a confirmation; which you have to sign off on.....and then your off to get married.

This is the just of what happened for me. I communicated with my planner a lot but ultimately the kit is just a 3 -4 page pdf or word doc fillable form and based upon what you plug in is how they determine flowers, wedding party size, how many glassess/plates, what type of cake and etc...
