Custom weddings are 12 months out.
Intimate weddings (which is what I did) are 8 months out. When that time comes, you call DFW and place your deposit over the phone. At that time your date/time is held. You will be given a confirmation number at that time, too. Since last year the hotel was included in the package....I'm not sure if you still get a confirmation at the time of your deposit because the confirmation number was your hotel confirmation. ????
About a 2 -3 days or a week later for some, you will get a phone call from DFW confirming your date/time and your event coordinator.
Once you are contacted by your event coordinator, they send out a info packet; which includes general information about the package you have selected. It will also give you pricing on additional elements. It was useful but most of the information is now found on the disneyweddings website.
You are basically on your own (nothing is really happening) until 4 -6 weeks when you submit your planning kit. Once the coordinator rec'vs they will finalize about 2 weeks out and you will get a confirmation; which you have to sign off on.....and then your off to get married.
This is the just of what happened for me. I communicated with my planner a lot but ultimately the kit is just a 3 -4 page pdf or word doc fillable form and based upon what you plug in is how they determine flowers, wedding party size, how many glassess/plates, what type of cake and etc...
