Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent apartment building in Toronto. doesn't have to be downtown, just as long as it's a safe area and the rent isn't sky high (looking to spend anywhere from 700-1000... but desperately trying to keep it at or under 900 - for a 1 bedroom) Prefer to be near Subway line or if there are any near Ryerson I should check out.

Also, how is the Woodbine/O'Connor area? I don't know this area at all.

Thanks a lot!

Hey there,

If you would like a high-rise or a quiet safe neighbourhood on the Yonge Subway line, I would recommend looking around Finch Station and Sheppard Station. As much as I love the Yonge and Eglinton area, you will probably have to pay more. Check out kijiji and craigslist to see what is available.

good luck

The Woodbine/O'Connor area is not a bad area. You might have to take a short bus ride to the subway. It would probably take you about 20 to 25 minutes to get downtown. If you are going to the Ryerson campus downtown I wouldn't recommend Finch and Sheppard - too far.

Woodbine/O'Connor is a good area.

Do not know what the average rent in the area is now (we own)

I live not far from there, and it is a nice area.
My brother recently looked at an apartment in the area and I believe the rent was 775.00 for a one bedroom.

Also you would need to transfer lines at Yonge if you are on the Bloor/Danforth line. Try and live within a reasonable walk to the subway if possible

Yonge & Sheppard no transfers from downtown. But I'd rather live in East York.

Lots of buildings/flats around Broadview and Danforth.

Broadview/Danforth is the best. But we were paying $650.00/month when we left 16 years ago. That was for a one bedroom.
Because everyone wants to get their child into Jackman School, rents in that area have sky rocketed.

I live at Yonge & Eglinton and it's definitely possible to get a 1-bedroom for around $900 (incl ut.) in one of the older buildings north of Eglinton. Even easier to find a Jr. 1 bedroom for that price.

I love this neighbourhood.

Dude, this is creepy because I found this through google and I KNEW I didn't post this here. I wrote this in Yahoo Answers! ahahah Thanks for copying and pastin... you helped me out actually ;)

EDIT:

Also, I ended up checking out the Woodbine/O'Connor area and the water in the apartment building I looked at was yellow! This could be from anything from a shake of pipes to rusty pipes, but I certainly don't want to be dealing with THAT ****. So just a warning. ahah
