I am from NE PA. Our winters are cold and snowy.

It looks like free dining in December (if they offer it again) is going to be the absolute best option for our family.

But we went in Nov/Dec 2014 and froze! Some days the temp was 32 at night.

I know the Temps can be all over the place but I am just so nervous!

It's definitely a gamble. We went in Nov this year and it was 89 and hot as hades everyday. Been in Jan when we were in shorts and tank tops one day and pants and jackets the next. Either way, it's better than being home! :D

We were there Dec 8-13 just 2 months ago and it was in the mid 80s and I couldn't even finish my Dole Whip. It melted so fast most of it ran down my hand :( It was really hot and humid and we were miserable. Still enjoyed our trip though!

Don't worry about it. Florida's weather is a mixed bag, you just never know what Mother Nature will send your way. We've vacationed in seasons when the weather should have been hot, and then a crazy cold front passed through. At least you won't have to worry about hurricanes in December.

See this post proves you really never know! We were there at the same time and the only day the heat felt bad to us was our AK day. We were cold most of the time :) Guess it really depends on where you're from and what you're used to.

We were there from the 12th to the 16th. It was HOT! We are from NJ and it was in the 70s here while we were in WDW. It was 85 every day. I was nervous about packing, but I waited until right before and checked the forecast. We wore jeans and sweatshirts on the plane and never needed them again. We were in shorts and tees the whole time. We went swimming twice. It was hot!

Agreed. We were there the same week in December and were so comfortable. Thought the weather was great - not too hot - didn't even need a jacket at night.

Just curious, what where the free dining dates this past December?

We've seen hot & cold temps in December. The last 2 years were great - sunny & 80. Other years it was 40 but I find that to be the exception. Be prepared - we always take a lightweight jacket & a fleece jacket - but you'll be fine. Enjoy!

You should be more concerned about the weather at home on your travel days. At least in Florida even if cold you aren't dealing with snow or ice. Clear and cold is easy to deal with by dressing appropriately.

In 2013 we went the week before Thanksgiving and it was mostly 70s and very pleasant.

This year we were there the first week of February and 4/6 days were in the 80s and humid. Luckily we had packed lots of layers. For the kids we tossed sweatshirts in the backpack/stroller for early mornings/late evenings.

It's going to be unpredictable this time of year but it is in NE too (I'm in CT). Valentine's Day was like -4 and this weekend we were outside without jackets! It's just more annoying on vacation! Worst case scenario - do laundry!

Pretty certain last year's December free dining started on 12/15. I think the year before was 12/12.

Thanks, I just made a similar post that asked if our trip falls partially within the Free Dining period, would we partially qualify for it. Our trip this year will be 12/10 - 12/14.

Anyone going in December should pack for both warm and cold weather, don't be nervous! We went twice in Dec and each time packed gloves, hats, jackets and had a blast and never once were we anywhere near as cold as we would have been at home in southern TN. 32 degrees in FL feels warmer than 32 degrees up north (and we don't even live in the north anymore)

The only times we were literally cold were when we road the boat btw FW and MK early in the morning or later at night.

During the day we ended up in t shirts, tank tops, shorts were fine but jeans were ok as well.

The weather is completely out of your control. Are you really nervous about the weather itself or the fact that you can't control it? Personally, I don't worry about things I can't change. Focus your energy on something else in the meantime and if you choose December just be prepared to pack warm clothes if the forecast looks chilly. It's really not a big deal ... if you're from PA layers and stretchy gloves will work all the way down to the low 30's.

That's not 100% true. We were once delayed leaving an early morning flight from TPA in January because there was ice on the wings and they needed to wait for the sun to come up and melt it :tilt:.

No, you only partially qualify if your check in date is during free dining. Then it has historically been applied to the rest of your trip.

I've gone the beginning of December many times. I've seen highs anywhere from 48 to 82. If highs are in the 60's or less, the days are not bad if the sun is out but it gets cold after dark. All you can do is hope for the best and pack accordingly. My general rule is if there are no highs forecast higher than 70, I don't bring shorts.

We were there last December 27-Jan 2 and highs were in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 60s....it was like the middle of summer in the Midwest!
