December UY - help me think this through

I am currently looking for contracts with a December UY and I want to make sure that I'm getting my money's worth. Am I correct that if I wanted a loaded contract with December UY then I should be receiving all of Dec '16 points?

For example, I want a contract with 120 points, so all 120 points would have hit the account on Dec. 1 2016, and if I'm putting an offer in now then I should be getting all those points. And if not, then the price I will be offering should be reduced by the amount of points missing - right?

The sellers may list it with a price based on how many points it has. But, yes, a loaded contract will have Dec 2016 points and may even have 2015 points. And list price, as well as other fees, are negotiable.

Thank you for confirming. Now to figure out how much the missing points are worth...

Most December UY's won't have 2016 points by this time. If you found a contract like that which had 2016 dues paid and 2016 points available, it should cost a premium. If I was trying to sell a contract like that, I'd sell the Dec 16 points separate. Get $14pp for them now on a transfer, then sell the contract as a 2017 and not worry about the time it might take to sell.

I would not look at it as not getting your money's worth if they're not there, since only a small % of Dec UY's will have those points.

Fully loaded will have all banked 15 plus all 16 & 17 points. Those who follow resales more closely these days seem to think fully loaded is more difficult to find than it used to be and some have postulated this is due to the increased ease of renting.

A loaded December contract would have banked 2015 points, current 2016 points and all points available going forward.

Something with 2016 points is the least that should be there IMO and really you should not be reimbursing for all 2016 dues. At most, it would be fair to cover 1/12th of the 2016 dues.

:confused:

2016 points would just be the current points for a December UY. Yes, a person could strip it down to 2017 but I'd never look at it as a possibility to purchase.

This is very helpful. Thank you.

Fully loaded = all 2015 points banked into 2016 with all 2016 points as well ("double points")
Loaded = all 2016 points
stripped = missing 2016 points
fully stripped = missing 2016 and 2017 points

Not really the definitions of contracts that I've seen over the years.

I don't know exactly what word I'd replace "loaded" with but I'd never call a contract with current points "loaded". It's average although not exactly the word I'd use. It's the equivalent of direct. Fully loaded and loaded are almost interchangeable to describe getting all of the previous years points banked. I'd use fully to best describe getting all the previous years points and loaded could also describe that or just getting some banked points.

I agree with Kathy that the wording on the middle 2 is a little misleading. Plus it's always going to be degrees and a moving target depending on UY and the time of the year.

I agree I wouldn't call a contract with current UY points loaded. As a buyer I personally expect current UY points to come with the contract just like buying direct from Disney. If the current owner has already used those points I would expect a significant discount for having to wait to receive the following year's points.

Here's my concern with using wording that include loaded and stripped for in between contracts, it'll make it confusing, and likely misleading, for the less informed or those in a learning curve and it could easily cause them to overvalue or undervalue a given contract.
