December PM EMH worth it?

We have always done week to 10 day stays during the Summer and wanted to experience the Christmas season for once. DH and I are both teachers so missing school for more than 2 days during the school year results in loss of pay so we only have a 4 day trip planned. We are planning to start our day at AK on Wed, Dec 4. We have reservations at Ohana in the evening and then planned on going to MK afterwards since it is our first day. We have always been rope droppers since DS (11) and DD (9) have no problem waking up early, especially when it comes to Disney. However, since we are only there 4 days, we want to spend as much time in the parks as possible. We have never done PM EMH and are considering in on our first night. Thursday and Friday are Christmas parties and we plan to attend Thursday's MVMCP. What will Wed. night and especially EMH (10-12) be like? Will we be able to get anything done or will it be packed because of the parties the following two nights?

I would expect it to be packed. The last half hour might not be bad, but the crowds will linger since there are so many parties and so few nights at MK.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't do it, but manage your expectations.

What time is your Ohana ADR? Are you hoping to get into MK in time for HEA? If so, just know that Main St and the hub will be like sardines.

It will probably be busy until 11 or so, then I’d bet it will start to drop off. We love evening emh. Get away from the hub or don’t see the fireworks and ride less popular rides at first. I love being in the parks late.

Again, just manage expectations. Ohana can be quick or slow, so if it were me, I'd be thinking 7:00 entrance into MK. You may get done a little earlier, but you may not. At 7:00, the crowds won't yet be on Main St, so you should have no problem entering. It will be more crowded probably than any thing you've experienced in the summer, so just take in what you can and enjoy!
