I am trying to plan a trip in early December, flexible dates, any tips on things I must not miss. I plan to do the MVMCP, and Osbourne lights. Has anyone done the sleigh ride in Ft. Wilderness and how is the Candlelight Processional? Anyone know anything about the dinner package for the Candlelight Processional? Looking to try some new dining experiences this year, we have always done character dining, may swap some of those out for table services, any suggestions? Traveling with 3 and 5 year old DDs.

First of all Welcome.

We have changed our October trip to December (gotta change that ticker) we will be there 2-10. We have gone during this week many times before for DD's Bday. This is a nice time to go IMHO, it is cooling off, but typically not too cold and the crowds are typically minimal.

You already mentioned MCMCP and Osbourne Lights, those are two to not miss. I would definatey try the CP, it is moving and beautiful! I would book the dinner package if I had little ones like you, to guarantee a spot and not have a huge line to wait in. Don't forget about touring the resorts (especially the monorail resorts) to view their decorations, they are each unique and VERY beautiful! Touring the resorts would be a nice "day off" adventure! I have never experienced the sleigh ride at Fort Wilderness, but I do love the Fort and I can't imagine that you would regret that experience.

I think with the ages of your two littles, I would keep a few character meals, and maybe try 50s Prime Time Cafe or Whispering Canyon Cafe. Those are two fun meals that should keep the littles entertained.

Feel free to ask any questions you like, I would be glad to answer!

Thanks! Someone else mentioned touring the resorts, I would have never thought of that. Where is Whispering Canyon Cafe and what type of food do they serve? We have done 50s Primetime Character Meal, I have heard it is totally different for dinner, kind of comical maybe?

Whispering Canyon is at the Wilderness Lodge, its a quick boat ride from the MK. They serve barbeque and you can get the skillet which is basically all the barbeque favorites and sides served family style. There are also games and things for the kids to participate in and you may get a few little surprises if you ask for a drink refill or ketchup!!

50's Prime Time Cafe' is probably what you might imagine your mom's kitchen (in the 50's) to be like. You are served by "cousins" who throw in some table manner lessons among other funny little jokes. The desert menu is viewed on a ViewFinder and it is just an all around funny time, BUT only if you don't mind being picked on a little!

Another that I forgot to mention was 'Ohana, not the character breakfast, but the family style dinner they serve. It is Polynesian food and they also have games and things for the kids to participate in. If you time it right, you can tour the resort to look at decorations, have dinner and head to the beach to see the MK fireworks and watch the Electric Water Pageant.

I also forgot to mention the storytellers (Santas) from the different countries in Epcot. This is a fun time and I think littles the age of yours would really enjoy this (my DD did and still does).

Thanks so much for all the tips!! Lots of useful information! I am sure my daughters would love to see the Santas, I would even if they didn't!

I'm gonna jump on this thread. We are going Nov 30-Dec 5. It's a girls only trip! I have ALWAYS wanted to see the Christmas decorations. We have decided to do MvMCP even though we are adults. I want to see the snow on Main Street!

Wow, this thread just reminded me about our 2005 trip. I don't think we had thought of it since!
Ok, Whispering Canyon is supposed to be the laugh a minute, corny jokes, silly waiters and I was so excited. Well, our waiter's name badge said "Crazy Mike". I believe he was the dullest waiter I've ever had in my life. I mean, he was nice, I was just expecting all these hijinx and it never happened. We ended up watching another very entertaining waiter mess with other families. But that became a running joke the rest of our trip, "Whoa, that Crazy Mike is going to make me bust a gut from laughing" or "Crazy is an understatement". Gosh, I can't believe I JUST remembered that.

I guess the lesson is, don't have high hopes for the "comical" things. They will probably happen, but don't be disappointed if they don't.

We have always had great servers at 50's Primetime. We go every trip. I love it because it's the decade I wish I lived in and you know Disney, their decor rivals no other.

I'll keep that in mind. I think I am just excited about the possibility of doing a nice meal without characters. The last two years all our table service meals were with characters, you don't go to those for the food. Our other meals were all quick service. So I am ready for a new experience!

We are looking at the POP Century December 1-8.

We will be there around the same time, might run into you!
