I have been checking at least 3 times a day since the 330 day mark for airfare between Christmas and New Years from PHL to MCO. I have traveled this week for the past 4 years and never paid more than $250 per person. US Airways has had their fares out for many months, but they are close to $600 per person and are not budging. Air Tran released their fares, a few weeks ago, but never released any of the web or discounted coach fares. Spirit out of AC is ridiculously high too. I am starting to get a little worried. Anyone have any success finding reasonable fares from PHL to MCO for Christmas week yet?

I'm not looking for that particular week but overall airfares are higher this year than in the past few years. Any time I travel over holidays or peak times, I book as soon as those dates are released. That usually works for me.
We booked our return flight for our Jersey Week trip at 5:30 am before work the day they became available to buy on USAirways. I paid $118 (one way) and now it's almost $300. When you're looking at flight times that are in demand, you can't sit back and wait for them to offer discounts or price drops. There just won't be any. Overall there are fewer flights so demand is higher.

Southwest will be releasing new dates on approximately June 15.

This might be your only chance to find affordable fares. When you look at their fares, keep in mind it includes 2 free bags checked pp.

Good luck!

Thanks. A couple days after Air Tran released their fares for December, Expedia and Travelosity had flights for 220 RT. I tried booking them, but got the usual "There was a problem" screen. They were showing these fares for 2 days, but you could not book them. The Air Tran site only showed the higher fares. I just looked at my Air Tran email confimation from last year and it was dated 6-15-2009. Maybe there is still some hope. I cannot see fares being more than double from last year.

I agree. That's a huge difference.
Never give up hope! :thumbsup2

Is it possible for you to travel out of BWI?

They are always consistently lower.
