December MaGiC or was it?!? TR starts Pg. 39

Subbing popcorn::

Sorry about your luck (with several things) so far  ....We were there the week after you.....other than the hubby getting grumpy :sad2: with 'waiting for things' we had a great week!!!!

I would have cried rivers if my camera broke.....not to mention the one I took was my father's, but that thing was glued to my side all trip.....I filled almost 4GB's of memory cards :lmao:

I'm planning to do a Photo TR later when I get everything in line :goodvibes

Can't wait to read 'the rest of the story'

:woohoo:

i would cry if my camera broke while I was there. I would be the one taking the cab to Walmart and dropping money like crazy. :sad2:
:thumbsup2 = update.
I did :sad2:
Hoping that the trip improves... sorry about the bad luck!
It will - next time.

The only bad wait we had while there was Soarin. A few peple I know went the week after & complained about the waits.

My camera was glued, so say to my hubby's side, I guess. Thats why it broke. Got put some humor into it. Seriously though, it happened, couldn't change it so we fixed it. I'm starting to like the camera but it has no grip.

Hi! I'm back and all caught up. So sorry about your bad luck. You got so much more done at MGM than us! Good for you just going with the flow! You were nicer to that Fantasmic family than I would have been!

Wow, Roxanne. You really had a streak of bad luck this trip. I'm scared to see what's coming since this is the "calm before the storm"
You seem to have a good attitude though! I would have given up on day one:lmao:

I was some mad at that lady at Fantasmic. I think she was the reason why Matthew was the way he was too. I am sure he sensed how mad I was.

You would not have given up on day 1 - I know better than that. Actually tomorrow is the calm before the storm - then its all downhill from that. :(

Some strange things seems to be happening - any0one else? It's showing me as being invisible. I am going to go see about that in a bit. I am not receiving emails about posts. I saw on the tech board there was a thread about that already.

But, onto the show. You all will notice many more pictures now. I had to test out this new camera. Only 14 days to return if I didn't like it but only 5 days left at Disney. I had 5 days to see if I liked it.

Here goes....

Tuesday, Dec. 4

Today was our MK day.
DSC00015.jpg

We managed to make it there for rope drop even though the kids had to bathe this morning.
DSC00019.jpg

Stitch woke us up again. Of course I was up a bit earlier reading all about the camera.
DSC00024.jpg

The park was empty.
DSC00042.jpg

We went do Fantasyland first, so Matthew could enjoy it before his nap.

DSC00066.jpg

When exiting Small World, I saw the dream team watching as people walked out. They attempted to talk to Taylor & he ignored them. After that we had a big talk with him about not being rude to people because they might have a surprise for us. Then Toontown and Frontierland.

We had an early lunch at Pecos Bill. I got a Taco Salad with yogurt as dessert. Steve got a burger, fries & a yogurt. Taylor got a burger, fries, grapes, applesauce & a cookie. I hated this meal. The taco salad was nasty, even with the fixings bar. The shell eaten alone with salsa was alright. Then when I got to the yogurt, it was light. Blah. Not good. So I helped Taylor eat his. We definitely had snacks today. After that we done more in Frontierland then Matt fell asleep. Taylor was sleepy too so we found a quiet spot & let them sleep. We could see the parade from a distance. When they woke up we done Adventureland. I didn’t expect to get that wet on POC. And again Taylor played the role on Jungle Cruise by being on the ground when our captain side to duck. Too funny.

This brought us close to our dinner reservations at Crystal palace. We had to wait to be seated past our reservation time but we enjoyed the fireworks while waiting.

We were seated by the window. Our server, I forgot his name was horrible. He took our drink orders & told us to help ourselves. When I got to the buffet, nothing tempted me but the kid’s items. So I ate macaroni & cheese & chicken fingers. I tried a few other things but didn’t care for them. Steve felt the same. We each ate an entire plate of food & our drinks still were not brought to us. When he finally showed up with them, Steve asked for another (since he took so long) so he was being a smarty pants & brought everyone more. No one else drank more than 1 drink. We watched him as he spilled a soda all over a camera at the table next to us. At one point it looked like he’d drop stuff on Taylor’s head so I made him sign to move. Then once he collected the money from the table behind us, he dropped the black folder thingy on the ground & never came back for it. We saw Pooh, Tigger & Piglet while eating but Eyeore hadn’t come & it had been an hour that we were there. Finally he came but we still couldn’t leave because even though we’d been sitting there for a while doing nothing, our server never brought the tab.

Taylro wanted to see if his tail really came off like the stuff animal his brother has. He didn't really pull his tail.

We zoomed out of there as soon as we could & we knew we had to go straight out the park since a MVMCP was happening. Main Street was few of people so we thought we’d go through the shops but a guy stopped us, asked for wristbands, Steve said we’re on our way out & he acted like we were trying to stay there & said cocky that we’d needed to turn ourselves around & go right back out the door we came in from. Okay. Then a few times down Main Street we were stopped. But we were really trying to leave. When we finally got back to the hotel, we got ice cream & sat & listened to the jazz musician playing. I could have stayed there all night listening to the saxophone. Tonight I slept with Matthew & Taylor slept with Steve. We all had more room that way. This little info will play a big role tomorrow.

Up next: Epcot or do we make it there? And to my fellow p planners...do you know that if you purchase trip insurance - it includes trip interuption, where if something unforeseen should happen, you can go home & get all your entire package price refunded? Useful information to know, don't you think??:confused3

Love this picture!

Samantha did the exact same thing! She can be real shy at times. :)

Good to know. Last time I was there I got a burger but thought the taco salad looked so much better.

Uh-oh! :scared1: That doesn't sound good!

Great update and pictures Roxanne. I love the pics of the fireworks and castle - they turned out great! :thumbsup2

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little scared by what's to come.
Great MK update, BTW, I have pulled the tail and it DOES NOT come off.:rotfl2:

I think there is a pic of it somewhere, my mom busted me

Roxanne, you look so sad in these pics! I'm really so sorry you didn't have any fun. I love the picture of Taylor and EEyore's tail. What a stinker! It looks like your new camera takes pretty good night shots. I didn't get an email about your update either, but your post seems fine. I also love the pic of Matt in the feed bag!:rotfl:

the new camera takes really great pics. I love the pic in the plant food and the "getting the tail" pic.

interested in seeing what is next. How come u mentioned trip insurance (which I got for the first time). :confused3 :scared1:

I just wonder if Taylor would have spoke to the dream team, if we would have gotten something - small even. From what I saw, the burgers at Pecos is much better.

Don't be scared, we survived. I don't think Eyeore even knew what was going on. But it was funny.

Do I really? I did have fun. Lots.

Steve couldn't resist that picture of Taylor.

When choosing the camera (since there wasn't much choice) I saw that one had a high ISO & I thought that was good for night photos. So of course I took a bunch at night to see.

Again, Matt in the bag was Steve's idea. I can't believe he fit!!

Well, its the first time I take out trip insurance too. And while we didn't take advantage of the trip interruption option (which we should have), we did have to use it.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

Epcot day. This day we again set a wake-up call again but as usual I was up earlier. I was almost ready when the phone rang. Taylor was worried the night before that Steve wouldn’t wake him up to answer the phone to talk with Stitch. And he was right. By the time he got to the phone, it stopped ringing. He was disappointed.

When Steve woke up he said that Taylor had kicked him between the legs & it was hurting. I start getting the kids dressed & Steve gets ready. He says again how he is hurting & I am thinking for him to just get over it & lets go. Then he goes to the bathroom. He comes out & doesn’t look too good. I asked if he was alright & he answered that he hates to say what the pain feels like. Right away, I know and say Noooo!! I run get him some Tylenol & lots of water. Steve has had many, many kidney stone attacks before & that’s what he thought it was. I was pretty sure he was right; I hear it’s a pain you never forget. So it should be easy to recognize. He agrees to do what I say & starts drinking thinking it would flush them out but then he can’t keep still. He is walking back & forth. I hurry & finish getting everyone ready because I don’t know whats going to happen next. He says he needs medicine. He calls the front desk for help & they say he needs a doctor, for us to call one & hangs up. He calls back & tells them we have no car so please assist him. They connect him to a clinic. A recording comes on saying they were closed. He calls the front desk again. They connect him to another clinic. At this clinic they say all the doctor would do is look at you & send you to the hospital & by this time he was in lots of pain. So he said he was just pressing the 911 button. An ambulance was sent out. That’s when I remembered I had trip insurance but I couldn’t find any of the paperwork about it. So I called the front desk & they said they didn’t know anything about trip insurance, but it was included in my package price. So then I saw a number for the Disney Travel Company. I called them. By this time, the ambulance was there & the paramedics were talking with Steve. He told them he had this plenty times before. They wanted him to lie down. He said its hurts more that way. They brought a stretcher for him but they asked if he preferred to walk & he did. I really wanted to get a picture of him leaving but I didn’t. Oh & we had talked about it before the ambulance came that the kids & I were not going in the ambulance with him to the hospital. He said for us to go to the parks. I felt guilty about that so we were going to stay in the room. I really thought I shouldn’t bring the kids to the hospital though. Oh & the Travel Company gave me the number to the insurance company. From then on, I spoke to Rosa & she was very nice. Everything was going to be covered but she had to fax me some papers over, so I gave her the resort fax number. She called to check on us many times that day. She also had to fax it twice because the resort said they never received it. Then when I went to pick it up, they had both & charged me for both. Go figure. I let the kids color in the lobby a while.
DSC00149.jpg

By this time Steve was at Celebration Hospital & they gave him pain medicine & were about to do a CAT scan.

I decided to go to Epcot with the kids. I realized I had Steve’s room key so I left it with the front desk to give to him upon his return. But there was no way I could handle kids, the bag & the stroller. So I would rent one at the park.

On the way out from the bus Steve called & said he had 2 stones in the kidneys & 1 traveling.

We had the most amazing bus driver today. He had the whole bus singing Christmas carols.

By the time we got in the park both kids were very aggravated. Matt needed a nap & Taylor was just fussy. I put Matt to sleep & got him comfy in the stroller & went to Innoventions so Taylor could play some video games. (unsure why this picture is not doing right :confused3 )
DSC00153.jpg

We stayed there a while. I thought we’d go walk around a bit but Taylor said he was hungry. I hated to wake Matthew up so I walked over to the Land nice & slow. We went eat at Sunshine Seasons. I got the Asian 2 meat & 2 sides along with a Strawberry Shortcake. It was all so good!!! Taylor got a drumstick, mashed potatoes, jello & pudding. He didn’t eat much before he fell asleep at the booth.
DSC00157.jpg

I heard back from Steve that they were discharging him & he would come meet us if we promised to take it slow. I got a call back from Rosa at the insurance who said I also had trip interruption coverage & that if we decided to go home early, we would get everything we paid back. So I called Steve to tell him that we should go home early but he insisted that after he passed the stones, he’d be better. That’s what normally happens.

He had to take a taxi back to the resort. But the resort reimbursed him for the taxi & they paid for the ambulance. At the hospital, Steve had to pay $100 deposit & for his medicine which was only $35 but the insurance said they would reimburse us for that. His bill when leaving the hospital was over $3000.00 already.

I stayed in the food court area in The Land a while since Taylor was sleeping so well. Steve eventually met us there. He ordered a veggie reuben sandwich & fruits. His stomach felt bad now & didn’t eat much. After we went over to the Jr. Chef program & Taylor done that.
DSC00176.jpg

Then we took the boat ride. Next Taylor & I went wait for Soarin while Steve put Matthew to sleep & went sit & relax a while. Soarin had a 60 minute wait. I thought Soarin was alright but over too fast for a 60 minute wait. The interactive game in the line was fun though. Made the time go fast. When we were done with that Taylor wanted to go do the Dinosaur ride. Ellen’s Adventure in Energy. Matthew was still sleeping so I held him the entire time. I think I may have gotten a nap while in there too.

Next was the Nemo ride. I thought this was a cute ride.
DSC00177.jpg

Steve started feeling a bit better at this point. We walked over to Test Track. Taylor & I rode first, then Steve & Taylor.

We had 7 pm reservations at LeCellier. Steve said he really didn’t feel like eating but he might nibble. We went there early. We got seated promptly at 7. I ordered the tomato stack, filet mignon & cream cheese mashed potatoes & crème brulee. The BEST meal I had there the entire time. It was so good. Taylor had cheese soup which he loved dipping the pretzel bread in. Hot Dog & Sundae. He didn’t eat much. He feel asleep.
DSC00180.jpg

Steve order a broth soup that he said was nasty. Then he order shrimp & scallops. He didn’t care for this either. He asked what other dessert would I like to try because he was going to get it to go. So he got the Chocolate Mousse to go. We left right after our meal. I kid everyone that Matthew & I ate a $110 meal by ourselves. Now if anyone here was there, I was the one in the restroom having a talk with my 6 year old about being rude. Again, the waitress talked too him & he wasn’t very polite. :sad2:

We had early reservations the next day at Ohanas so Steve asked the hotel people what would be the best way to get there. They said the MK bus starts running at 6 am & to tell the bus driver we had ressies & they were pretty good at dropping you off at the Poly. We took baths & went to bed. A pretty early night for us.

A couple pictures I took at the hotel today.

Tonight, walking to our room

I had to do 2 posts on this one. Not sure why.

And, sorry about the side ways pictures. I learned to be a go with the flow peron. ;)

Okay, so there you've heard it. This is the worse of it. It hit big plateau today but then eased down. Although, the rest of the trip wasn't as good as it could have been because of Steve's pain. It was nice.

And today, my children & I shared the experience of going to a WDW park by ourselves. I also had the best food of the trip today. Best QS & TS.

Just to let you know though, from this point on, no plans - just going do what our hearts desire. Well, kinda. We knew the plan & stuck to it as best we could but we knew there was no way we could be really on track. But we worked around it quite well.

Next update: Ohanas, our anniversary, MVMCP - even a nap for the adults :goodvibes

Oh my goodness! How horrible that Steve got kidney stones on your trip! :scared1: I've never had them but I've heard for a man they are the equivalent of child birth! I'm glad you were able to make the best of your situation. I've never even considered trip insurance but it sure was worth it for you guys!

ok that sounded painful. Good for all of u though. You for taking the kids to the park by yourself and for him going and meeting u. I think I might have gone home but who knows. That hospital bill is outrageous, I would love to own a hospital.
Pics were great.

Oh Roxanne! Aren't you the one who was debating on getting the trip insurance? So glad you had it! Did you say that the resort paid for the taxi and ambulance? Why did they do that? They'll pay for a taxi and ambulance, but charge you for faxes?:confused3 I can't believe Taylor sleeps like that. My kids were the crazies on the night bus still going strong! We ate at Le Cellier too. Glad to hear that this is gonna get better!:thumbsup2

Oh Roxanne, you poor thing. I feel so bad for you with all the planning you went through to make this a perfect vacation. And poor Steve, Owww! He gets them a lot? That's one thing I hope I never get.

I think your are going to have to plan another one to redeem this one!! Sound good??

I swear I posted to this already, but I don't see it. I swear if this stuff happened to me it would have broke me! I think you do such a great job of keeping yourself together.
I have to laugh at Taylor and his naps, it cracks me up! The pic at LeCellier is priceless! I watch my 3 year old niece that won't nap for anything, I wish she would.
Missa thought she may have been passing a stone on the last day we were at the parks. It was nothing like his pain, but she was hurting for a while.
