I am at 1161/2400.
Like a lot of other folks, this has been a challenging month. I am having to really push myself to get in at least my mile a day. The below normal temps and snow have been a challenge, but I am still plugging away.
I keep telling myself--just make it until Dec 21st and then the days will start getting longer again.

A little extra daylight always helps!
As we approach the end of the year, I just wanted to throw this out there. Something to think about over the next couple weeks. I have always set New Year's resolutions and they usually don't go so well. They have been the typical vague, often unachievable goal. Last December I decided that I was going to run a mile a day every day in 2013. Running a mile takes me between 10 and 13 minutes. I had 15 minutes a day to devote to myself. It was a concrete, achievable goal.
Well, here we are, December 18 and I am only 13 days from my goal.

(I already did my mile this morning.) I ended up scaling back the goal in February or March to what I call a "purposeful" mile each day--whether walked or run. (The marathon in January did a number on my back and it's taking me a long time to recover.)
Anyhow, I throw this out there, because those 10-20 minutes I have devoted to myself every single day, have been really, one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I could go on and on about what I have gained from this commitment to a mile a day.
There is something about committing to something concrete, strictly for you, and sticking with it every single day.
As the New Year approaches, I encourage every one to consider a concrete, specific, achievable goal for next year. The rewards of taking on this challenge really are many and pretty wonderful.
