December Exercise Challenge! HoHoHo! No Santa wannabes here! Keep moving!

240 more minutes walking since last posting

660/1250 so far. Hope everyone had a good Christmas, or Holiday,

Finally got a run in today! And am finally starting to feel a little better. 60 min at the gym puts me at 830/1500! I'm not gonna make my goal, but I will probably do better than any other month I've participated and that was my aim- to push myself.

I also want to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year as this one winds down. I'm looking forward to becoming a "lean machine in 2014!" As DH and I have begun to say. We both need to slim down and become more all around fit and healthy.

Thanks to everyone who does these challenges. It's so much better when you have people working towards similar goals with you!

Well, I got knocked out with a viral infection that's still hanging around. Argh! But I felt good enough to do a little today.

Thank you TxAg for your post--because I needed that this week. And thank you to everyone for continuing to use this forum to talk about being healthy and taking care of yourself. Sometimes we all just need a little encouragement.

Hey Rose - hope you're feeling better!

MrsAR - your long runs inspire me! 168 minutes...dang, that's a lot of running, and you have numbers like that somewhat frequently! Are you doing several halves this month/fall/winter? Good for you. :cool1:

Found a nice, new walking path today, and the temp is right around 60, so I enjoyed that. Colder weather coming in tomorrow....

Have a safe and wonderful weekend and New Years celebration everyone.

If we don't have a volunteer for tracking January, I'll do it.

I ran R&R Savannah in November but I'm running my first (and maybe my only) marathon on 2 weeks at Disney. Now that we are beginning the taper I have too much time to think about it. I have 3 halves in feb and April I haven't forgotten your half is coming up fast. Good luck!

Adding 90 minutes at the gym. Treadmill, lots of arm and leg exercises, and my nemesis, the twisty thing!

750/1250 so far.

challenges and some strength training thanks to mother nature. Spend an hour breaking up with a shovel and carrying large chunks of ice out of a driveway.

oh! and I finished the plank challenge tonight

7/7 with the "40s".

Getting ready to update through post 170. :)

168 min run this morning
Hang in there Rose. You are an encouragement to us all. I've been on HRT for over 20 years and it's no biggie. I'm always afraid at my annual physical he's going to ask me to stop

Glad you are feeling better.
I am with you on the becoming a lean machine in 2014. I have put on weight two years in a row! Boo! Hoping to get my focus back in the new year!

I blew it with the planks this week. I just didn't want to do it in a hotel room for a week. But I am starting over in January. I really think it is good for me.

Great job on finishing the challenge! :)

I don't think we have a volunteer yet. I would do it again, but I am happy to hand it over to you if you want. :)

I was really looking forward to taking "double" walks this week since there's no school. But I've done something to my foot (aside from the probable plantar fasciitis) and now I'm not sure I even want to do one walk! :worried: I need to decide if I call the doctor tomorrow or wait until I see the podiatrist on the 10th.

In the meantime I'm close to my goal and think I will continue with the planks even though the challenge is over! Maybe I'll even use a stop watch instead of counting since I notice I count 1...2...3...383940!

Finish 2013 strong and have a healthy 2014!

12/22 50 min on bike trainer
12/23 40 min on bike trainer
12/24 20 min run
12/25 100 min on bike trainer
12/26 60 min on bike trainer
12/27 50 min on bike trainer
12/28 20 min run
12/29 70 min on bike trainer

Thinking I am going to fall short of goal, but not by much!
Thanks for updating Rose!

Well, Saturday I did 10 min of abs, bringing my total to 840/1500.

And yesterday I came down with whatever stomach bug my DH and DS had last week. So I'm completely bummed I didn't get my run in last night and am not sure about tomorrow either. I'm getting really nervous about the race in a few weeks because I was supposed to run 11 miles this coming weekend and I have only run once since dec 21.....

Hey Figment - sorry you're feeling crummy. I hope it doesn't last long. I know the nervous feeling about not training well near the end. My first half is tomorrow and I haven't run so few miles in a month since June! First the ice storm, then the holidays and my other excuses, and here I am, not quite as prepared as I should be.

However, lots of folks in my running club feeling the same way, and all have decided that if we need to walk a majority of it, so be it! So, please don't stress too much - run what you can, walk what you need to, and learn so that next race you'll be that much ahead of the game!

But I've done something to my foot (aside from the probable plantar fasciitis) and now I'm not sure I even want to do one walk! I need to decide if I call the doctor tomorrow or wait until I see the podiatrist on the 10th.

Linda - I'm sorry! Hoping it's better this morning, but don't overdo it and make for a longer recovery.

Take care everybody :)

By the way, I blew it on the planks these past 2 weeks....

Getting ready to update through post 177.
Congrats to everyone who is still trying to get in those minutes. December is a challenging month for so many reasons, so be proud of yourself for getting out there and taking care of yourself. :)

First, I was laughing about your plank comment. I count really fast at the end. Especially on my right side which is weak. I am going to continue with the planks as well, but I think I am going to start with 15 or 20 sec and do that for a month and increase 10 or 20 sec a month.

Hang in there with the foot. I had so many foot problems in 2011. Physical therapy helped so much. I think many things are fixable, but it takes patience. Hopefully your doctor will have some good news/ideas for you.

BTW--when is the last time you got new shoes? Sometimes just switching up shoes will help. Hang in there!

Hang in there. You have a good base, you have finished a 1/2 before. It might not be your best, but you will finish. :) Feel better!

I blew it with the planks too...going to get back on the plank wagon on Wednesday. :)

I hope you have a great time at your half tomorrow! :)

best workout I've had in a while with a little bit of everything and ended a 30-day squat challenge with a bang - 550 squats.
