December 9, 2016 (3 Nights)

Hi everyone!

For those posting in this Cruise Meet thread to join a FE, if no one comes forward to organize a FE for this cruise, anyone can organize the FE right in this thread and just share a pdf document through a private conversation confidentially with just those who want to join in! You do need to have posted ten times in order to be able to start a private conversation with another user - to accomplish this quickly, please visit our Welcome Board (http://www.disboards.com/forums/welcome-to-the-dis.83/) where you'll see the "test posts" thread for assistance.

Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine managing meet and Fish Extender discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is completely up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM (conversation).

PLEASE review the Cruise Meet Policy regarding Cruise Meet and Fish Extender programs. - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3353477

Enjoy!

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if you need any help getting started!

Traveling on this cruise with my husband and kids 13 and 14 at the time of travel. This will be our 4th Disney cruise. Wish it was a 4 day or longer but can't miss work and school. Looking forward to the Merry Christmas cruise! Is anyone else on the ship with us:)

My family will be sailing with you! Looking forward to joining our first FE group. Guess I need to post a few comments on threads to join in the fun. Wonder how I can get an image on my profile?

You can post on this thread to "join in the fun". However, for adding an avatar, sending private messages, and adding a signature, you must have 10 posts.

This is our 5th Disney cruise. I would prefer a longer one, but our kids are having to miss 2 days just for this trip. In our cabin will be me, dh, dd 14 at the time, and dd 10 at the time. My mom and sister will be in another cabin, this will be my moms 2nd Disney cruise and my sisters first. My sister will be 38 at the time of sailing and is the most excited. My brother and his wife are also coming along with 2 of my nephews (11 & 16), this will be their first Disney cruise. We are all excited about seeing the Christmas decorations. I think we may also join in on the FE.

Will someone please start a FE group for this cruise? I've never took part in one before, so I do not feel comfortable being the leader in the mess. Thanks in advance!

My second cruise but first time the family and first time for this. I am not sure what we do so any info would be great!

This will be our first-ever cruise! It'll be my husband (who's afraid he'll get bored), my daughter (age 7), and me. We've been to WDW 11 times over the last 13 years and wanted to try a little something new, so a 3 night cruise it is! Our daughter begged to go on "the big family ship" so she can see all the shows and characters and we just couldn't say no! We're also surprising her with 4 days in the parks afterward (staying at POFQ). Hoping we all enjoy ourselves and that there will be more land & sea vacations in our future!

This will be our first cruise as a family ever. My husband and I have both been on cruises as kids/teens. My son has never been on one. He will be 10yo at the time of the cruise. There seems to be this complex world around DCL. Figured I join a group!

eeyore29: Like your husband, I'm afraid that I'll get bored too!

Looking forward to joining our first FE group.

I think we may also join in on the FE.

Will someone please start a FE group for this cruise?

It sounds like you guys have a good amount of interest! It tends to pick up the closer you get to your sailing date as well. Being in charge of the FE is easy (if a trial of patience as people do go MIA sometimes after saying they want to join).

Your group can decide on what information is necessary. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/favorite character/favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

At some point the list will "close". Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will either post the list (usually via a conversation is best, as that's more private) to confirm everyone on it is still participating. And making a statement about "anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped".

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a "pixie dust" list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their "final" list. Be sure the "pixie dust" list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others.
let me know if there is anything else I can help with! :)

:tinker:We just booked our third Disney cruise today!
As of right now we have 4 cabins booked (8 adults 4 kids). We may have 2 more families booking this week.
We all took part in the Fish Extender group on our last Disney cruise a couple of years ago. It was so much fun that all the families asked me to sign us up again. Thank you Disboards for creating this :-)
I am not on the computer a lot but I will keep watching over the next couple of months as our FE group grows.
Once I know how many I will have in my group I will post again.

Looking forward to joining our first FE group.

I think we may also join in on the FE.

SETTING UP A FE GROUP
It appears there are a number of you who are interested in a Fish Extender group. There isn’t one currently set up here on DISBoards. Here’s a little write up on how FE groups are set up:

There really are no “rules” as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/ favorite character/ favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know in order to create the gifts. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE group. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

The easiest, most private way to handle the information necessary to prepare the list (many people prefer not to put sensitive information on a public forum), is to use the “Conversation” feature here. There needs to be at least two people to start a conversation. Only the starter of the conversation (usually the organizer) can add additional people into the conversation (as long as they do NOT select “Allow anyone in the conversation to invite others” at the bottom of the reply window). Then when new people express a desire to join, usually by just saying “we want to join the FE”, the organizer can add them by clicking on the “Invite more” button in the “Conversation Participants” window (lower right of conversation page). Only those people participating in the conversation can see what’s posted there, and respond there. I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations that don’t have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test Board to post and up your post count. http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

At some point the list will “close”. Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will post the list, either directly on the Cruise Meet thread, OR via private conversation, or, possibility, via e-mails. This is to confirm everyone on the list is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about “anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped” at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as they reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a “pixie dust” list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their “final” list. Be sure the “pixie dust” list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

The other “biggie” is no other social media sites are allowed to be linked or search directions posted as to how to find that other site here on DISboards. Please read this: http://www.disboards.com/threads/im...uise-meet-and-fish-extender-programs.3353477/

As it seems there are a few here on your cruise meet thread who would be interested in doing this, who’s going to step up and volunteer to maintain the list?

HI everyone we just finalized it this morning -We are doing a B2B -my daughter (11yrs) and I will be on our 3rd cruise with Disney and this will be my husbands 1st and 2nd cruise with Disney We joined the FE on our NYE cruise and loved and would like to join here if we have one

Hi everyone! My girlfriend and I are so excited for our first Disney Cruise after our 11 days stay at the World. We would love to be a part of a fish extender group! Hoping to hear from you all closer to the time. DK

We are going on our 1st, of hopefully many, Disney cruise. I've heard a little about the fish extender program, but not really sure what it is exactly. Also our Little guy will only be 2.5, anyone have any tips on crusing with toddlers, or info on fish extenders? I'm also new to forums, this being my first thread (except for discussion boards for school). So I apologize if I did this wrong also.
