December 9, 2012 Disney Dream Cruise Meets

Hi;
We would love to participate in the FE if it is still ok; sorry to be so late in deciding; this is our first cruise.
Our crew includes myself, DH, and DD 9.5 and DS 9.5
This cruise is still a surprise that I have managed to keep for 14 months now! I plan to tell them the night before the cruise while watching the fireworks at the GF in WDW on our anniversary! Can't wait!

would it be ok with everyone if i just did the gifts for the kids?
ive already purchased a bunch of stuff and some new people are being added and now i cant find the stuff to match, so i think i need to stick with doing just the kids.
i hope this is ok!

Just curious, what about the cabins that don't have kids?

I am ok with that. As far as I know there are no real hard rules. You get what you want to give how you want to give. So I don't think it would matter if stuff all matched or if you only did for kids or whatever. Supposed to be all fun, not stressful or problem making.

Just got off the 7 night Wonder Pacific Coast cruise! Now, to start thinking about this one! We usually fly in the day before, but just stay at the airport Hyatt, since it's around 5pm or so when we get there. However, this year, we're going to WDW afterwards and staying with friends at Saratoga Springs. We have a grand villa! Cindy and I are probably going to use Christmas stockings for our FE. The one we have is decorated for Halloween. We'll see what we can come up with.

I love the idea of Christmas stockings for your FE! Since it's only October, it never occurred to me - but now that you mention it - it will be perfect timing!

:cool1: My days work :)

http://flic.kr/ps/NGkFQ I can't seem to get the link to actually post the picture here :(

I got our FE done today! I am glad it's done. And now I understand why they are so expensive! I know I am not a professional seamstress or anything. But wow that took a long time. I am glad ours is original though I wasn't able to fully achieve the look I had in my head. My daughters picked out the fabrics.

We are so excited to be going on this cruise. I can't believe it is just around the corner!

Tracy

wow! Tracy, I am truly impressed with your FE. Now that I understand the level of skill and patience it takes to make one, I am buying one for sure! LOL

Jennie - I agree with Tracy on the FE gifts. should be low stress for sure - for cabin with children - gifts for just the kids sounds good to me! I'm sure if I asked my three year old DD, she'd agree! ;)

How do I get added to the list. I am new and cannot pm.

Thank you!

Robin

Hi Robin. I pm'd you email address for Chris (who is in charge of the gift exchange) and info he needs to know. Email him and he will get you added to the list.pixiedust:

Hi;
I have not heard back yet about joining the FE, is there something I should do that I am not doing? Thanks!

If you pm'd Chris (ItAllStrdWAMouse), you should be fine. I am sure he is just busy and will get back to you. Chris will need to know how many are in your cabin, your cabin #, first names of everyone, and ages of children if you have any children of your group.

I e-mailed Chris this morning. Hopefully I will hear from him soon.

Can anyone tell me about how many people we will need gifts for? Is there a list? Also, any other rules or tips I need to know. This is our first Disney Cruise. I am a newbie to all of this. LOL:)

Ok, nevermind! I read the first page, duh!

:) Chris does have a good summary of the gift exchange on the first page but the important thing to remember is do whatever you feel comfortable with and don't let it stress you out. You can do a simple gift, a fancy gift, a kid gift, etc. whatever you want to do, just have fun with it.

This will be my fifth cruise and I have participated in a gift exchange on each of my cruises. It just makes the Disney cruise a little extra special.

Right now there are 11 cabins with 32 individuals. With you and gr8vthsfam added, that will be 13 cabins all together but only 12 cabins to give gifts to (unless you want to gift yourself ;-)).

I am so excited. 44 more days and we will be on a Disney cruise ship!!!!!

Hi Friends!

Just booked for 12/9/12 today! Can't wait to hopefully run into you guys and gals on the seas!

It will be myself and my mom (her first cruise ever)! And we are super excited!

Just saw that you are still allowing people to sign up for joining the group of Fish Extenders! I would love to join if possible and give my mom a proper Disboards/Fish Extender welcome!

We got our luggage tags today! So excited!! :woohoo::banana:

I didn't see tickets or any other papers though. Are there other things that will come too? Or is all electronic now? I did the online registration as soon as I was able.

Technically your booklet is your ticket. It has a barcode on it that Disney will scan when you enter the terminal. You will also need to print out the signature form and bring it with you to the terminal. So your booklet, the signature paper, driver license, and passport is what you will need to board the ship.

FYI, when you reach the terminal, baggage services will take your luggage. You will then go thru a gate where a Disney employee checks your id and scans your booklet.

You will then follow the pathway to a security checkpoint with x-ray machines. Your carry-on bag will go thru the x-ray machine and you will go thru a metal detector.

You will then go up an escalator where a Disney Employee will direct you to a table to fill out a quick health form. The health form basically asks is anyone sick, blah blah blah. You fill out one form per family, basically say no, no one has a contagious disease. If anyone is sick, Disney does have the right to not let that person board.

A cast member will then direct you to the check-in line (everyone in your party needs to be in this line). You will wait your turn (usually a very short wait) and go up to the check-in counter (just like the hotel check-in counters) where the cast member will take your health form and your signature form (that you printed from the internet). The cast member will also ask to see everyone's passport.

If this is your first cruise, the cast member will take individual pictures of everyone in your group. These pictures are not printed on your id. They are stored in Disney's database so when you disembark the ship at ports, Disney can match computer pics with actual faces.

After the cast member has checked you in and given you your Disney Cruise card (room key/charging card), you will be directed to the waiting area. If you have kids, you can complete the kid's club check in process (I have no idea what this entails cause I don't have kids). The kid's club check in is near the waiting area.

The lobby has a cool ship replica that you will want to take tons of pictures of :-). Also Captain Mickey or Minnie come out at various times to pose for pictures.

When it is time to board, you will hear an announcement. When it is time to board you will go thru the Mickey Head Arch to the gangway. Cast Members will be directing you and will ask to see your id before you go thru the Mickey Doors. Plus once you get pass the Mickey doors, there is one more queue where you will get your id scanned to officially register you as boarding the ship.

After that queue, Disney Cast Members will direct you to pose for your first Disney Cruise photo and then you will go thru one more door before you are finally on the ship. When you go thru the main door, a cast member asks for your family name, they announce it to all the cast members waiting in the lobby to cheer you on. I love that part, it is like you are a celebrity for two seconds, very nice!!! A cast member will then direct you where to go to eat and you now are free to explore the ship.

***LOL, I see I just wrote a book, sorry if I bored anyone, slow day at work.***

missj, you might want to watch out...they are going to try to hire you soon!
