What is Labor Day about? We have a Labour (May) day that celebrates worker's rights (or complains about the current governments laws, depending on your political views). Is it like that? Ours was originally started by the Labour Party but the current Liberal party changed it to October this year which made many in the trade unions rather cranky.

Yep, same thing....just spelled differently.

It used to be the 1st of September until they went on the Monday holiday kick, all holidays possible are on Monday so there is a 3 day weekend involved. Now it's the first Monday in September. Here in Virginia, it signals back to school on the following day.

Almost all of our public holidays are on a Monday too. Which gave rise to the charmingly termed long weekend 'sickie' (many people take a Friday off before a Monday public holiday to get an extra long weekend).

I spell color without the u but that's because I had some American teachers in my early primary school years. I'm pretty sure I put the u in the others (which is the English spelling).

Basically, labor day is a federal holiday, given to the people as a day of rest and to celebrate their contribution to the economy. so basically a day off work...

I know I am so looking forward to booking on saturday nite....hey if worse comes to worse, and your husband dosnt want to do the brunch, you are always welcome to have brunch with Sue and I. I will be up at the computer patiently waiting.

Yes, you did tell me you did get the shot glasses for wally, thanks again, he is happy about that. I think I will take a picture of his shot glasses and post the picture, I honestly dont think he has room for anymore.....I will try and remember and do it this evening when I get home.

Yes, but when your sitting up half the night to book things for your vacation, it dosnt seem to matter...that's just half the fun.....

Evening:

So, one of the ladies that I worked with, she recently retired, goes to Michigan, they have a summer place on the lake..and Michigan has really good peaches, which are now in season...so I asked that she bring me a bushel back, she did, so now I have a full bushel of peaches sitting on my counter. I was going to try and split them with my friend, but she is out in the Caribbean somewhere on a cruise ship... so I came home and just made a peach cobbler. Hoping it turns out. It's a Paul Dean receipe...its in the oven now. I will let you know.. I did pass some peaches out at work, but still have a lot left. which by the way are soooo good and juicy.....

Now, I have to go to the face book page and tell them I need to join in on the diet.

Have to get the spare room cleaned as my daughter comes in on Thursday next week. Looking forward to seeing her. Just wish she was bringing my little Izzy girl....but I will need to wait till November to see her....

Yay!!! I think we have our excursion selections down. Just hoping that they're still available on Saturday night/Sunday morning when we can book them. Only 91 days, 56 minutes and 27 seconds to take-off!!!

Ooohhh that's not good, Chuck...you never want to get further away from a trip...only closer. I'm actually stiing here trying to figure out what our next trip will be because I can't stand having a trip come to an end without having another one on the horizon somewhere.
