This will be our first time cruising and we picked DISNEY !
Our three grandchildren will be joining us . Has anyone else gone on this
cruise before ? Any clues or tips for us ?

Thanks hope to meet you on the trip.

M.G. :cheer2:

Welcome to our group Poohbearfans!

Disboards.com has the best Disney advice and information around. I'd suggest reading through the Disney Cruise Line posts/threads and checking the search engine for specific questions.

This will be our 3rd Disney cruise and we love every second that we're onboard and dream about it when we're not! We have 9 -year- old and 5 -year- old boys and have cruised with my parents on our 2 previous DCL cruises. We have found activities that we have enjoyed together and on our own. DCL really does have something for everyone.

You will really have a great time. If you have any specific questions, feel free to post them.

ONE MONTH from tomorrow we'll be leaving S. Georgia to Central Florida! :cool1: :cool1: Ok...I just can't wait much longer!! IS IT JUST ME??

Hi Jotop - I am originally from S. GA (Adel). We are driving halfway Weds night and stopping at my Dad's then making the rest of the way there Thurs. morning. So, we too wiil be departing S. GA! Nice to see another S. Georgian around!

We haven't gotten our docs either! :rolleyes1

Just an FYI....

We are in Stateroom 5146 with a late dinner seating. Our kids are not going, so it is just Ronda and DH Steve.

I saw where someone got moved from Port to Starboard - Is there a huge difference? I might have to get us moved b/c we are not at midship, and DH ususally gets very seasick on other ships (i.e. the gambling cruise to nowher ships).

Let me know what you think!

I think you'll be ok on the seasick. I'm pretty sure DC ships are much bigger then the other day ships.

We're in Cabin 5626! Can't wait!! I'm hoping with the mail not running on Saturday, our docs will come in todays mail :cool1: We also have the late sitting.

We're leaving the night before (12/6) and spending the night at Pop Century. I love to shop at DTD.

I thought the docs came via UPS? Does anyone know for sure?
I'm positive ours came UPS in April for our May cruise.

No documents here yet either. I saw earlier that someone sailing 11/25 still doesn't have theirs either!

We moved ourselves starboard because I LOVE that side of the ship's location in Port Canaveral and when docked at CC. At the port, you can see the terminal directly from our verandah and watch the CM's wave with their Mickey gloves on. You can see the same from deck 10 during the Sail Away Party, but I love watching the hustle bustle and excitement of everyone coming onboard too. I also love while at CC being able to look out and see the entire island as opposed to the ocean on port side. Then again, it's never a guarantee they won't dock the opposite way. I have read about it happening, but only very rarely. I saw that there were starboard category 6 openings when I went on Disney Cruise Line.com and found our sail date and typed in category 6 and to pick a specific stateroom. About 8 category 6 rooms had opened (they were booked for months and the rooms available then I had previously been on travelosity) and I saw a few that were midship and starboard.
I have been very prone to motion sickness since I was a young child. I can't do anything that spins and have been sick several times on boats. For me I have found the best place on DCL ships is midship. I have been on a Carnival cruise and got sick in the middle of the night while located in the tail end (aft)area. It was a much smaller ship than the Wonder and Magic and during the tail of a hurricane...stuff was flying off the tables at meal times. I also got sick in May on the Magic when we were very far forward. To me, forward had much more motion than midship or aft. Our bed and sofa also faced backwards from the direction we were traveling and I hated looking out the window because it made me feel so queasy to watch the waves go backwards. I know I shouldn't have kept looking, but I just love the ocean. I was wearing a patch, but still ended up very ill the second sea day and ended up taking it off and switched to Bonine. From then on I was perfectly fine. My ds5 gets seasick on small boats but has never needed any meds or been seasick on the Wonder or Magic. DH and DS9 have never been seasick. When we went on the 4 day Wonder in 2/2005 we were midship and I had the patch and was perfectly fine the entire trip. My parents, FIL and sister have never been sick on DCL (they were all midship).

itgirl1002-I just noticed you are from Suwanee, GA. Is that a big town/city? One of my brother's best friends from high school (in London, England when our dad's were stationed/worked there), Charles Warren, moved there several years ago but unfortunately was killed in Iraq with the GA National Guard on 8/3/05. His wife and children still live there and she has sent us articles on how wonderful the outpouring of support has been to them from your community.

Hello Everyone
Still waiting on cruise docs, hopefully by the 21st according to my TA. Docs have come in for the land portion for DD8 (Dorian)to go to Pop century on 12-4 until the cruise. We will have late seating. We have stateroom 6632.

I can't wait!

Hi Hanover,

Yes, Suwanee is pretty big. We are to the North East of the Atlanta Airport - about 30 miles. That name sounds awfully familiar, but then I knew a family by that name in my little hometown. I am so glad everyone is being so great to her. I really love the community.

You may have seen Charles' story on tv. I know that there were several tv segments and newspaper articles about him and his family shown/written. When he was killed his son was barely 2 and his daughter was only 6 weeks old...he never got to see her in person. They just had a tv segment aired last month (that I was forwarded a link online) for a dedication in his honor at Children's Hospital where he was a nurse before being activated in the National Guard. He comes from a family of 10 kids, so chances are there may be some other family members there too.
