DECEMBER 6, 2009 Winter WONDERland sailing!!!

Lynn,

I noticed your little tag line about The Cullens and Forks. Another Twilight fan? (I'm really into the series and very impatiently waiting for the movie next month)

no no no no...I am already buying and have been buying clothes for the cruise...I cant wait until closer to it to start buying else I will not have any money for the trip...
you know what...I just dont care and will not care to worry about weight for anything...I have no desire to meet and fall in love and get married(been there done that over it!!) or care what people think about me as far as weight goes and when you see me you will definitely see what I mean...
I think the other way: Cruise money first, then money for clothes if I find I need new ones. Either way works. :)

And Lynn - I don't think any of us care what someone else weighs. Why should we? In Holly's case since she does hope to lose, I'd hate to see her buy a new wardrobe that might be too big for her a year from now. So waiting until at least closer to the cruise may be a good idea.

BTW - I am also one of those who does not even own a scale. My "weight control" is to frequently wear pants that are a bit tight at the waist. If they get uncomfortably tight, I know I'm gaining, and I don't want that. If they become looser, I know I'm losing and that makes me happy. Honestly, I think the only way I might lose weight is if I start doing WDW 3 times a week the way I used to. Walking at a good pace, hitting 3 parks in one day and perspiring a lot - - Yeah - THAT can make me much thinner! But since gas cost about 3 times what it did when I moved down here, 3 times a week is probably not going to happen for me again!

I know I miss going to the park as much as I used to go. I didn't get to go three times a week - but wow - that would be GREAT exercise -- and fun!

I'm hoping to get there again at the end of this month.

I do envy you Lynn living nearer to DL. As much as I love WDW - there are some things at DL that are much better such as POC. I think they re-did Space Mountain too?

Smiles,
Holly

Yes, POC - but don't forget the Blue Bayou restaurant! Great food and great scenery in one place! I WISH they had built WDW's POC with its own Blue Bayou. It certainly isn't like we didn't have the room for it here!

hey all...holly and shari what I said was not towards you 2 and what "you" guys thought...i was just speaking in general, as in the way I feel about the whole weight issue and I know you meant it towards how you felt personally when you are gaining weight...by all means I support you to the fullest with any weight loss you are trying to accomplish and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor...I just gave up trying :rotfl: just wanted to clear that up...

ah yes Im a HUGE fan and exactly like you, waiting impatiently for the movie...after halloween I have an election Mickey Im using till after and then my sig line will be all about twilight...I actually have always been into vampires...books, movies, etc...I have my very own customer made fangs...and randomly put them on whenever my mood hits:rotfl: and no i dont dress goth or think im a vampire...just a regular person...but i think for the MTOTP I am going to wear normal clothes as vampires have come "out of the coffin" so to speak and they dress normal...my daughter will just paint up my face and arms to look dead and I will wear my fangs...do you watch true blood???

yeah they just changed the soundtrack to it...last year for a bit they called it rockin space mountain and played higher ground by the red hot chili peppers as the soundtrack and the lights were all on so you werent in the dark...it was ok...I like the soundtrack now fine but I really miss the original

you know Im not a big fan of BB food...there is one thing however, that I cannot get any better at anyplace I look for it and its the jambalaya...BB's is AMAZING...very spicy the way I like it...and I like the prime rib but Im not a HUGE portion meat eater...I like the sides better...as far as what most people go for, the Monte Cristo..1. they sell the same thing at Cafe Orleans for several $$ cheaper and you can get it at lunch or dinner vs. BB only serving at lunch and 2. the portion size is so so so small now..I remember when you could only eat half a sandwich and you were stuffed...no more...besides I have the actual BB monte cristo recipe and I have made it at home and it tastes the same so I dont ever go and order it

It's been a few years since I've been to DL - but I loved BB. I'd get the Roast Beef and sit by the water. Really wish they'd done that here - why they didn't I have NO idea.

As for Twilight, I actually have a replica Edward/Bella bracelet. Very nicely done and I'll wear it when I go to see the movie. I'm a vamp buff myself for movies and books.

I haven't seen True Blood as I don't have Showtime or HBO. I LOVED Moonlight and was very, very upset when they cancelled it.

Holly

what is your favorite movies? books?

I have 2 favorite movies...1 is Bram Stoker Dracula..the one where Francis Ford Copolla directed...THAT was amazing...I have a blast looking in the backgrounds for different shadows and things that most people dont realize is there...the other was Queen of the Damned...that was a great movie..

as far as books go, I guess my favorite would be Salems Lot by Steven King...I had the pleasure of rewatching that movie awhile back and realizing that it wasnt anywhere as scary as I once thought it was lol...I remember when it came out, I was like 13 and outside my room was where the clothesline was and there was a big light that shined down on it and I swear I saw a shadow of a bat fluttering and starting to take form of a vampire:rotfl2: I love the chronicles by Anne Rice and my favorite one was probably Queen of the damned..but the movie was NOTHING AT ALL like the book...I cant even remember seeing one thing in that movie that had anything to do with the book...that was crazy...Interview with a vampire was pretty much spot on with book and I do like Lestat....and of course my current fav obsession is twilight...

Lynn - The Jambalaya and the Monte Cristo Sandwich were the two things I always went for at BB. The last time I had the sandwich there it was big. Cutbacks everywhere, I guess. There certainly are at WDW!

I have a 1976 "Disneyland Fun Food Cookbook" that has the recipe for the Monte Cristo and lots of other DL food, plain and fancy. I still cook from it occasionally. ::MinnieMo

Lynn - I LOVE pumpkin! Please direct me to the recipe!

Pumpkin Muffins with Cream Cheese Icing

Pumpkin Muffins:
2 cups pumpkin purée (canned)
1½ cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs
¾ cup canola oil
1½ tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ tsp. salt
1½ tsp. baking powder
¾ tsp. baking soda
¾ tsp. cinnamon
¾ tsp. ground cloves
¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
½ cup raisins

Preheat oven to 325ºF.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together pumpkin, sugar, eggs, oil and vanilla until well blended.
Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg over the pumpkin mixture and whisk until just blended. Over mixing may result in less tender muffins.
Fold in the raisins until consistently distributed.
Portion mixture into muffin pans and bake at 325ºF for 25 minutes.
Insert a toothpick into center of muffin and remove. If toothpick is clean, the muffins are ready. If not, allow muffins to cook an additional 1-2 minutes or until toothpick is clean.
Allow muffins to cool for 30–60 minutes.

Cream Cheese Icing:

1 cup unsalted butter
1½ cups cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups powdered sugar
½ tsp. cinnamon

Allow cream cheese and butter to soften at room temperature for about an hour.
Mix cream cheese and butter together until smooth.
Add vanilla extract, powdered sugar and cinnamon, and mix until well blended.
Remove from mixer, and cover and refrigerate until needed.
Fill a pastry bag fitted with a star tip with icing.
Poke a hole into the center of each cooled muffin and squeeze icing directly into the middle of the muffin, finishing with a rosette on the top.

Special Tip: This recipe makes a generous amount.

ok so I thought I would grace you with my mouth:lmao: ...the picture needs no explanation...

Uh . . okay. I think I may need the "explanation" though.

My favorite vampire movie is the version done in the 70's with Frank Langella. He made Dracula very sexy and sensual.

I loved Anne Rice's series in the books, but really hated the movie Interview With A Vampire. I'm sorry - I still cannot believe Tom Cruise as Lestat. It didn't work. Didn't care for Brad Pitt in that movie either. For me it totally was off.

I'm hoping the Twilight movie keeps it close to the book. I know they can't fit all of it in a movie and they'll change some things. I belong to a Yahoo group on the series and everyone seems to like the casting (the younger crowd anyway) so we'll see how it all works out.

Holly

Hence why I am not "dieting" - but I AM watching what I eat as I personally want to be slimmer as I don't feel good physically at my present weight. (which since I don't own a scale - I have no idea of what that is - I just know I felt better being less "fluffy")

I actually have tons of clothes several sizes down - so its like having an all new wardrobe whenever I do drop some!

Smiles,
Holly

I LOVE the cold! It recently SNOWED at my other home (in Idaho) and I was so sad not to be there. I seriously hate the heat. The only thing I really like about living in FL is WDW - LOL. Winter here can be nice, but is always mixed in with still too-hot days. However, my community is FULL of transplants from NJ who mostly moved here to escape the weather there. I'm well aware that northeast winters are far more severe than those out west.

Do your kids have the trick-or-treat bags from previous MNSSHP? I've usually kept mine. I wish I could go trick-or-treating (other than at MNSSHP), but being an adult with no kids, I wouldn't be able to get away with it!

Right now I am sitting on the patio with my laptop, gazing out at the pond (long but narrow lake) behind the backyard. The wind is blowing so much that it's making waves on the water. A few ducks got in at one end, floated quickly to the other end, then flew back to do it again. Looks like fun, but they don't allow people in the water. They do allow fishing from the banks of the backyard though.

I'm thinking this would have been a nice day at WDW, in spite of the wind. My mother wants me to take her to Magic Kingdom on Wednesday so she can do some walking. Since she uses a cane there and walks SLOWLY, I am always turning my head to make sure she's still there, and by the end of the day it's given me a painfully stiff neck. If I try walking slower to be beside her, she slows down even more. :scratchin Well, at least it will still be a "Disney day." :teleport:
