DECEMBER 6, 2009 Winter WONDERland sailing!!!

I've been reading some different post about the fish extender.

This seems like a great idea and I was wondering if anyone is interested in participating? Has anyone done this before?

Are you talking about going around putting little "gifts" in people's fish extenders while they reciprocate? It does sound like fun, but I'm not interested myself because it means more to bring and more to carry off the ship or, sadly as is the case with a lot of fish extender gifts, more to trash. However, I think it could be especially fun for families with kids. Although I'm married (no kids), I'm a solo and think I'll skip the fish extenders. But not to worry - I'm sure there will be plenty of participation!

After this year's MouseFest cruise is over and more people start booking for OUR cruise / next year's MouseFest sailing, you will undoubedtly find lots of families wishing to participate, and I imagine there are others on this thread already who will. We just need to get them posting! :)

msgoofy - I had your "cruise profile" confused with gydell and so did not realize you will not be traveling with any children, and of course you don't need kids to enjoy doing the fish extenders! I'm sure that by the time we sail there will be many here choosing to do that because it does seem quite popular.

I think you and your DH will really enjoy this cruise. I am in my mid-fifties also (Shhhhhhh - Don't tell anyone!) and my husband is more than a decade older, but I can NOT get him to cruise. He is not into Disney and not into cruising, since his only cruise experience was a transatlantic way back when. Maybe someday . . . :boat:

Keep trying to get him to go. It's like potato chips, once you start you have to keep going. This will be our fifth cruise but our first with Disney. I never wanted to spend the money since it is higher in price, but we love Disney so much, we thought why not?

We always say we will spend our vacation in a new place, but WDW always draws us back. We have been 20 times. We were just there in September. We decided that after the cruise next year , we would spend a few night there. We have to drive to our destinations, my husband won't fly, so while in Florida why not spend some time there.:yay:

Excellent idea to take advantage of WDW while you are down here! How could you not? :)

Disney cruises are the ONLY ones I've done! I NEVER before had any desire to cruise. I became an independent TA to supplement my wildlife photography income. I did the College of Disney Knowledge Disney Specialist training. Then the "advanced" training meant Disney Cruise College on the Wonder! I knew that if ever I were to cruise, it would have to be with Mickey. Well . . . This will be my 12th and if I could afford it I'd be crusiing Disney at least monthly! :cool1:

We would love to do it. We have never done it but we actaully got the fish extenders since we were going this December and we had signed up to exchnage gifts. It's not alot to carry, they are small trinkets. I found little Disney wallets, pencils, stickers @ Target for $1. Its just sounds like fun.
Once we get closer to the cruise we can see how many people are interested and if there are alot we can split into groups.

That's great, Clara! Although you haven't done it before, it sure sounds like you know all about it. Now you and msgoofy have a start, and I know there will be MANY "signing up for it" by the time we sail! :thumbsup2

FYI for anyone who MAY have been considering buying a Pal Mickey: Disney has decided to discontinue the little mouse. Here's their take on it - -

PAL MICKEY DISCONTINUED: As a result of our efforts to evaluate product offerings as technology continues to evolve, Pal Mickey, the interactive plush that was introduced in 2003 for use at the four Walt Disney World® Theme Parks, will be discontinued. Although Pal Mickey will no longer be available for purchase, the interactive plush will continue to operate in the four theme parks as they do today.

We anticipate the Pal Mickey plush toy to be available through the next couple months as merchandise locations sell existing items in stock. As merchandise locations sell through their existing stock of the Pal Mickey plush toy, the remaining Pal Mickeys will be available for purchase while supplies last at the following locations:

Island Mercantile at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park
The Dark Room at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™
Epcot Camera Center and MouseGear at Epcot®
Emporium at Magic Kingdom® Park
World of Disney® store at Downtown Disney® Marketplace

I just cannot believe the cutbacks that they are doing. Yes, I know the econony is rough - BUT the things they cut out don't always make sense.

I am sad about Pal Mickey....

Holly

Yes - I think now we will HAVE to take the mice on the cruise! Poor little guys.

I do feel a bit guilty because our PMGUPC was what really did all the Pal promotion and kept up their sales. Then again, it wasn't MY/OUR job to do THEIR job, so . . .

He will live on. We'll see to that! :)

I'll have to be sure to bring Pal Mickey with me.

Now I wish I would have bought some of the outfits for him. He needs a new wardrobe!!!

Taswire - I'm looking into becoming an independent travel agent as we speak. I currently work for a travel based club and have taken the College of Disney Knowledge. If you have any suggestions, please pm me.

hi everyone:wave2:
it looks like i will be joining you guys on this cruise .......
WELCOME! WONDERful to have you join us! :goodvibes

I added you to our cruiser list HERE. I did not list "2nd DCL cruise" under "Celebration" because I wasn't sure if it was your second or if you've done more. Let me know. I can post your deck, category or stateroom IF you like.

Also, if you click the Wonder photo in my signature it wll take you straight to our cruise website. :)

BTW for everyone: I just rearranged the cruiser list to ALPHABETICAL by user name to help everyone find each other as the list grows. I hope that is agreeable to all.

Welcome MizTigg! We look forward to meeting you and your family onboard. Our numbers are growing - and of course will continue to grow as we get closer.

Just off The Wonder? How was it? Bet you had a blast.

You know, if I ever came into millions - I think I'd cruise at least once a month... (a girl can dream can't she?!)

Smiles,

Holly

Shari: I'm definitely going to take Pal Mickey now. And you are right - it wasn't up to you to do all of the marketing for Disney!

MsGoofy: I think you can still get the outfits from eBay if you aren't going to hit WDW or DL before you cruise. Besides, a lot of what people dressed him in wasn't always "Disney" outfits. I wish I could sew - as that's a good way to get a really extensive wardrobe.

Smiles,

Holly

this is my 7th disney cruise we had a blast on the wonder i went with 19 people from work it was alot of fun i wanted to do a 10 day southern carr but i cant take off from work during the holidays and it is so expensive last year we went on the magic the first week of dec and i loved all the decerations anyway im sailing a cat 11 room 6631 im gonna keep trying to get a gty 12 only because im inside anyway and whynot have more spending money or some more money for the konk koolers :drinking1 time to make a new ticker cause a girl cannot go with out a new disney fix planned

I'm doing a Cat 11 myself. I didn't consider a Cat 12 simply because I thought it would be more fun to be reasonably near my friend, Shari's cabin. Not that the ship is that huge - but thought it would be easier.

And yes - a girl needs a Disney fix often!

Smiles,

Holly

I just now added your additional info to the list on the website. For some reason I did not receive notice of any new posts since my last one. Strange.

There are so few Cat. 12 on the ship, and they use those to attract new bookings at lower prices. Even now they are showing no availability for Cat. 12 on our cruise. That's odd this far out, but maybe it's because it's a MouseFest sailing.

Sounds like you are definitely a DCL addict like so many of us. Most of my non-Disney friends don't understand why I keep cruising with Disney since I've never had kids. Disney without children? They just don't "get it" that Disney is for EVERYONE who still has any imagination and enjoys feeling like a kid again. I think DCL does the best job of keeping children AND adults happy! :goodvibes
