DECEMBER 6, 2009 Winter WONDERland sailing!!!

Uh . . okay. I think I may need the "explanation" though.

lol i mentioned in a previous post that I had fangs made for me so I was just showing you how good of a job they are...I can remove them easily:thumbsup2

My favorite vampire movie is the version done in the 70's with Frank Langella. He made Dracula very sexy and sensual.

I loved Anne Rice's series in the books, but really hated the movie Interview With A Vampire. I'm sorry - I still cannot believe Tom Cruise as Lestat. It didn't work. Didn't care for Brad Pitt in that movie either. For me it totally was off.

I'm hoping the Twilight movie keeps it close to the book. I know they can't fit all of it in a movie and they'll change some things. I belong to a Yahoo group on the series and everyone seems to like the casting (the younger crowd anyway) so we'll see how it all works out.

Smiles,
Holly

Holly you are just one of the millions of people who feel the same way about the movie vs. book...and dont apologize to me, I HATED Tom Cruise as Lestat...I tolerated Brad Pitt much more and I thought Antonio Banderas fit the character of Armand to a tee...Interview with a Vampire is my least favorite vampire movie ever...

Right now I am sitting on the patio with my laptop, gazing out at the pond (long but narrow lake) behind the backyard. The wind is blowing so much that it's making waves on the water. A few ducks got in at one end, floated quickly to the other end, then flew back to do it again. Looks like fun, but they don't allow people in the water. They do allow fishing from the banks of the backyard though.

I'm thinking this would have been a nice day at WDW, in spite of the wind. My mother wants me to take her to Magic Kingdom on Wednesday so she can do some walking. Since she uses a cane there and walks SLOWLY, I am always turning my head to make sure she's still there, and by the end of the day it's given me a painfully stiff neck. If I try walking slower to be beside her, she slows down even more. :scratchin Well, at least it will still be a "Disney day." :teleport:

that was a nice picture Shari..how about getting your mom to rent an ECV while shes there...then that way it wont slow either one of you down and she will be pain free:goodvibes

I went back and looked at the pic again. Now I see the "fangs" further back. I have "natural" fangs I can NOT remove - LOL. What are they called? Cuspids or bi-cuspids? Mine are a bit SHARP! :scared1:

ECV? No way! She is Type 2 diabetic and the doctor says to use it or lose it! She needs to WALK! She is not in any pain walking, she just walks SLOWLY. I am the one in pain because it pains me to walk slow. It bothers my hip joints. Always has. I'm great at walking at a good pace though. No - Her walking pains ME, and also pains my NECK from constantly looking back at her.

oh ok gotcha...

The T-REX Restaurant at DTD opens today! :thumbsup2

Has anyone here been to one? I simply LOVE dinosaurs and worked with some back in 2001, as a dinosaur tour guide and audioanimatronic dino technician. It was SUCH FUN! There are some pics of me with "my" T-Rex HERE, and here are pics of the dinos as they arrived and were removed from their truck pods. Yes, it was on THE September 11th.

I know it's OT, but maybe some of you have kids who are into dinos and might enjoy the pics? Besides, I'm bumping up the thread! ;)

A T-Rex Restaurant? Do they have animatrontics? If they do - it's something I'd like to try.

Smiles,

Holly

YES, Holly! They just opened TODAY and they are supposed to have LOTS of animatronic dinos! They are the dino equivalent of Rainforest Cafe, and franchised by the same company.

Check out http://www.trexcafe.com/.

We need to go for lunch!

Yes we do! Maybe we could go at the end of the month if the weather is okay on the 29th or 30th? I'd love to see it. I've always loved Rainforest - but this sounds even better as its dinosaurs.

Holly

I'm wondering if perhaps we should try to make a res for it. Since it's new, maybe it would be a good idea to call and see. Do you suppose they have a bar area like RFC?

I remember walking by it with my nephew when it was behind a big wall with a dino graphic on it. I've been anxiously awaiting the opening, but I'm sure their prices are a bit high - just like Rainforest Cafe. Funny - I don't even care how good the food is. I want to be with the DINOS! :goodvibes

It would be fun to try something new - so if either of those days works for you - lets do it.

Note to group: Yeah, we are off-topic here - but we'll let you know how we like it and if it's worth going to for anyone who is coming to WDW before the cruise.

Smiles,
Holly

Well, YES, Holly - If anyone is interested we could even plan a mini-meet there for anyone who will be around long enough before or after the cruise! A dino-meet! Ya think?

That could work and be a lot of fun!

I forgot to mention that the new T-Rex Restaurant at DTD has a Build-A-Bear Workshop where you can build your own Dinosaur!

My mother just informed me that she'd rather wait until Thursday to have me take her back to WDW, because tomorrow is expected to be 88 degrees there with very high humidity until later in the day. Thursday should be a whole TWO degrees cooler. I think she's only concerned about getting home in time for the political debate, but I guess I'll not be driving anywhere until THURSDAY! :drive:

A bit of shameless posting here to keep the thread open and alive...

Shari: By the way - I looked online at the annoucement of the T-Rex restaurant and it said reservations weren't accepted yet. I still would love to try this on either the 29th or 30th.

A little more on topic: Did anyone try to play with reservations for the 2010 cruises? I did JUST to see what the prices would be - but even as late as last night, never got past an error screen.

I'd love to do a transatlantic cruise someday (all those lovely at sea days), but I'd rather do it on one of the newer ships that are designed to do ocean travel...

How is everyone?

Smiles,

Holly

FYI to anyone interested in dining at the T-Rex Cafe restaurant: They will NOT be accepting any reservations until JANUARY. Until then it will be strictly WALK-UP. As long as it isn't a peak meal time, I don't think there should be a problem getting in.

I stayed up late last night watching the old b/w film, The Gene Krupa Story, on AMC. I like a lot of the old flicks. :happytv:

:surfweb: Right now I'm still drinking coffee and contemplating adding a few things to our cruise website. It currently has our Cruiser list (with a countdown below it), Itinerary page (includes links to Nassau and CC info on DCL's site, as well as current weather for Cape Canaveral/Port Canaveral), News (Anyone have any?), links back to this thread and the one on Passporter, and a Resources page. I will be adding to that last one but don't want it to get unwieldy.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the site? REMINDER: My user name on the cruiser list links to a small photo of me, and my stateroom number links to pics I previously shot of that stateroom. If anyone wants to send me a photo of themselves or their sailing party for the website, please do!

Holly - Great minds think alike! I was still writing my post while you posted yours! We both caught the "no res until January" thing. ;)

I agree - adding photos of everyone at some point - would be great. (and this coming from someone who HATES photos of herself...)

Another idea: I'm not sure what I want to do in Nassau. Since you've cruised there before Shari - and anyone else who has - perhaps comments on things to do there?

I know on the boards it seems everyone goes nuts over Atlantis. I've been looking at excursions and the Ardastra Gardens Tour seems interesting.

Didn't you say you did one of the horse carriage tours, Shari? What was that like?

What are others planning?

Smiles,
Holly

I like the horse and carriage ride only because of HORSES. Like nearly everyone in Nassau, the people hit on you for money for everything. After paying for the ride (can't recall the price), then this kid offered to take our picture with MY camera. The thing is, he wanted to be PAID to do that! Ummm . . No thanks!

I'll let other here HOPEFULLY respond as to their plans for Nassau.

Meanwhile, one more thing about T-Rex Cafe - - - Check out THIS ARTICLE and GREAT PHOTOS in the online Orlando Sentinel. I can't wait! :thumbsup2

EDITED TO ADD: If you click each of those photos in the T-Rex Cafe "review", it will take you to the larger photo. Too COOL!

Shari,

Thanks for posting the article! Wow - GREAT photos - now I definitely want to go. I love places like this and since I really like dinosaurs, this seems perfect.

On Nassau - I figure it's much like Cozumel - you get literally bombarded with people trying to sell you things or little "services". I do recall you saying that if one's hair is long enough, to wear a hat or you'll get accosted by people wanting to braid your hair. I'll put my hair up or wear it up under a hat (even though I don't like hats much)

It is fun to poke around the site and look at the site Shari did since it has tons of photos and stuff. I'm really daydreaming about our cruise today...

Smiles,
Holly

I've been looking at the T-Rex photos - I think I like the Ice Room! (and I KNOW Shari would - LOL):lmao:

Love the color change photo. Looks very dramatic and interesting.

By the way - I know we are "yakking it up" today and I hope no one minds or feels left out. I do NOT want that. I remember on one cruise thread the people posted all day long about any old thing - but it really was only a few people - and I think the others didn't feel welcome. NOT what we want at all. I am just saying this because I'd hate for people to think we were taking over the thread and didn't want others to feel welcome! :sad1:

Smiles,

Holly
