Hope you have a WONDERful cruise!

Hello fellow cruisers

I've jumped on board now-had a 3/07 cruise booked but have changed to this. Our 07 school calander didnt include any time off in March as has in past so I've always wanted to go away for the holidays. This cruise fits perfectly.
It will be me 40 something, dd will be 13 & 10 @ time of cruise, DH wont make trip unless changes jobs before then. But thinking of taking my mom. I'm going to try & keep this as a xmas surprise. Could be hard as gets closer.
Hope to get 2 know you all before cruise, our last cruise was so nice. Knowing people before made it great fun.

Cant Wait

Wendy

Hi Wendy! Your Mom will love it! We took my Mom with us two years ago (my hubby's idea, if you can believe it), and she's talked about it ever since. We had a wonderful time, though it did make for cramped quarters in our little Cat 5. Not that a Cat 5 is too small, mind you, but for my hubby, it's hard to "let your hair down" when your MIL is sharing the same room and bathroom. (Afterwards, he did say, "Never again!") This will be our first time without my Mom along--we were happy to have her with us, since we didn't know how much longer she'd have the health to do it. I think it'll be fun to spend some alone time with hubby this time, though. Our son is old enough this time to go spend some time at the kids' club without us worrying about him! :bounce:

I did know about 5 folks from the boards before the last cruise--we had a really nice get-together at High Tea one day, and of course, kept running into each other all over the ship! DH wasn't so sure he liked the idea of people knowing anything about us before we got on board ("What if they're weirdos???") He changed his mind when he met a few of them, and I enjoyed running into people I knew here and there! Will be nice to see you on the ship! TTFN. :wave2:

I would like to introduce myself and family and to say we will be cruising with you. We have had the 10-day Disney Magic booked for 2006 for over a year now and as of last week we added the 4-day Disney Magic cruise to it. We just returned from two and a half weeks in Florida and a 7-day cruise. We had such a great vacation and wanted to cruise even more so we will do the back-to-back cruise with the 10 day and 4 day. I see others are doing that as well so it should be pretty cool. We are very excited. We have a category 3 booked for the 10-day cruise but could only get a category 4 for the 4-day. It would have been nicer not to have to change rooms but who can complain when you are cruising for 14 days.

The 7-day cruise we just had was with myself, husband and six children but our 2006 cruises will be with myself, husband and three youngest children. Our three older ones are 17, 20 and 22 so they are going to stay home this year. Our three girls coming with us will be 10, 8 and 5 at the time of the cruise. They are so excited to be going again.

Looking forward to chatting with everyone on this thread and eventually meeting you. We had a great thread going for our December 2005 cruise.

Hi Sandra! That sounds wonderful!!! Back to back cruises... I should try that sometime! :flower: Are you at least wait-listed for the cat 3 for the second cruise? I know keeping the same cabin would be easier... I hate packing just to unpack again. We had initially planned to take the 10-day, but since I'm dragging my feet on going back to work (I retired last summer), I have no idea what my schedule will look like if/when I go back to work this year. Seems safe to think I'd be able to take the week after Christmas in any job I'm working... What else did you do while you were in FL for two weeks? We were visiting WDW twice a year, it seems, and finally decided to retire to this area--very happy here! We're planning to take a couple of days over at Old Key West next month sometime and do the parks while it's not so crowded.

I'm sure we'll have a nice group from the boards--it's nice to actually feel like you know someone onbaord!!! Ciao. :flower2:

Hi Kim:

Yes, we are on a wait list for category 3. Sure hope we can get the same room. We had stuff everywhere in the room in December 2005 and packing took a whole evening so it would be great not to have to do that in the middle of our cruise. I won't complain either way though because I am just so happy to be able to do the back-to-back cruises.

We did so very much in Florida in December. We went to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, MGM Studios, Epcot, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Discovery Cove, the Rockettes Christmas Spectular show, two luaus, breakfast, lunch and supper in Cinderella's Castle, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, etc. It was just great. We went non-stop for two and half weeks there but thank goodness we had a break in the middle with the cruise.

Looking forward to meeting everyone this year. I met a wonderful lady from Florida who has done a number of cruises with DCL and I am looking forward to remaining in contact with her.

Take care and before we know it our turn will be here. We counted down to our last cruise from 609 days so this one will come rather quickly for us compared to the last one.

HOLY COW!!! When did you sleep??? :rotfl2: Are you DVC members? That sounds like fun. I live here, and still haven't been to Universal Studios... we've been telling our son that we'd try to take him over Christmas vacation, but I got sick, and we didn't do much of anything over the holidays. I think a surprise visit is in order. Maybe we can head over there on a Friday afternoon when he gets out of school next month, and check in for the weekend. I think he'd love that! Maybe do the MK on a Saturday, and Universal on a Sunday on the way home. You've got me thinking about it now--thanks! :wizard:

How was the luau, by the way? I assume that was at the Poly?

Hi Kim:

We certainly didn't waste too much time sleeping. Made the best of every minute. We are not DVC members. We rented a house and a vehicle there and just had a awesome time. We went to MK on New Year's Eve and man it was crazy busy there. We ended up leaving by about 10:30 because it was just so busy.

The luaus were great. One was at the Poly and the other was at SeaWorld. I would say the one at SeaWorld was by far better but they were both very good.

Take care,

:sad1: I had to cancel today. I am sad about it but hopefully I will be able to book another cruise someday soon. I hope you guys have a wonderful time!!!

Bye Tammy! Hope you get on another really soon! Why do I have a feeling that you'll be cruising before us? :cool1:

Doin' the bump... would love to have more Dec 26th cruisers on the thread!!!

I was thinking the same thing today, Kim. There just isn't much activity happening here yet. Hopefully it gets better as we get closer to our turn to be cruisin' on the Magic.

Take care.

We're still here...off and on...Been concentrating on the April cruise and trying to get Mom settled in her new digs...She SO does not want to live with a bunch of OLD people...

There's a downside to 3X back-to-back cruises...Many new DIS-threads to keep up with... :thumbsup2 plus the old ones...Still corresponding with the first 10-day Holiday cruisers and the May Repo group...

Your stateroom attendant will probably move your stuff for you...no packing involved...

Wow Lynda--sounds so exciting to get to travel so much. Do you have favorite servers that you try to hook up with for the dining rotations? I bet so many of them must know you and Cash on sight! That's wonderful. :)

I take whomever I get assigned to but, as the former servers know us on sight, we always get the DCL SUPER service...I think they make sure of it.

One of the most wonderful things that happened upon boarding the Magic for the first Repo cruise was the personal greeting we got from each ofl the CMs who recognized us from previous cruises...they even remembered Cash's name...WOW!

It's wonderful that they remember the dog--I bet he can tell he's welcome! How does he like cruising? Did he ever have problems getting his "sea legs?" I saw in your block that you actually went on a Service Dog Training Cruise--was that specifically for training the dogs how to get around on the ship, or was it general training for them? It's SO great that they have programs like that--must be a Godsend. It's always nice when they get special attention, too. What a life! Does he enjoy Castaway Cay?

Hey, gang!

I'm sorry that I've been out of touch for so long. We're building a house and just sold our existing house last weekend so things have been pretty crazy around here. Plus, going to school is taking up a lot of time, but that's to be expected.

I see that we've had a few more people join our cruise thread, so that's good news. My DD is still worried that she'll have no one to talk to or hang out with, but we told her that we're sure she won't be bored.

We may be cancelling our summer WDW trip, but it's all good. We'll just have more money to spend on the cruise.

I do have one question for you Disney Cruise veterans though. How many bottles of wine will they allow us to bring on board. I'm kind of stuck on my favorite (Johannes Egberts Liebgraumilch) and don't like California wines at all. We'd like to bring one or two for each night of the cruise. I understand there would be a corking fee at dinner, but...well...I'm just spoiled, I guess.

You can probably tote as many as you like without feeling like a gurgling pack mule...or you can just ship them...
