Hey Jody--When is the Merry Member Mixer??? I didn't write it down.... We might go this year. :cool1:

It is every thursday this month at the international gateway at EPCOT from 3-5. I will be attending on the 22nd and the 29th. I hope you can come! I think Jody is going to be at the one on the 29th. Maybe she will see this and let us know. We can have a mini-cruise meet!

Yes, we're going to be there on Thurs 12/29 3-5 PM. It'll be our first and should be fun. (I just hope I can find it since the directions aren't very clear.) I just made ADR's today for dinner at Cape May at 5:50 that same day so I'll just have to make sure that the family doesn't eat too much junk at the mixer. My DH just loves seafood and DD & I can't really stand it. Don't know about DS yet (21 months old), but we'll all be able to find plenty to eat. Another plus is that DH can get his fill of seafood and stop asking me to go to Red Lobster

Jody! We have too many coincidences... I have ADR's at Cape May that night too!!! For 7:00 I think. That is so funny!

Really funny. I wanted to make our ADR's for a little later, but was talked out of it.

Well, I guess great minds think alike.

Absolutely! Since I am staying at the BCV that night, and leaving really early the next morning, that we could have a nice dinner and then get to bed early. But with the mixer and the hot cocoa and cookies, I hope we are hungry by 7!!

I hope my family is hungry by 5:50. I'll just tell them not to eat too much at the party. I was going to make the ADR for later but, DH didn't want it for that late. Oh well...I'm sure it will be fine.

Hi Jody and Tammy--I did see your notes about the Mixer... will have to tell hubby and see what he thinks. It would be really nice running into both of you!!! We've been thinking about going over to the MK for Christmas Day and enjoying the parade... maybe get ourselves on TV!!! Has anyone been to WDW on Christmas Day? I'm wondering how crowded it is... It's one of those days that I think could go either way. I had been hoping that my Mom would drive up to spend the day with us, and watch our kiddo open his presents on Christmas morning, but it's looking more and more like that won't happen. Of course, if we have any more weather like we had today, I won't even consider it. How rainy, cold, and dreary can it get? Didn't feel much like Florida today. :cold: Okay, maybe that's overstating things, but YUCK.... I hate cold and wet at the same time. :crazy2:

Hey Kim,

Merry Christmas!!

I am leaving for Disney soon so I will be away from the boards for a while. Just thought I would let you know that the Christmas parade is pretaped. They taped it on the weekend of the third. However, it will be packed at the Magic Kingdom on Christmas day. I am going to Fantasmic that day. But if you can make it to the Mixer on the 29th or the 22nd even, I will be there with my two kids. I have a t-shirt that I am planning to wear that has Minnie and Mickey in christmas garb and TammyAlphabet across the front. I made it and then put bleach in with the wash and faded it out. LOL.

Anyhow, I hope you can make it up and if so, I will see you then.

Tammy

Thanks for the heads-up about the parade! Hmm... I had hoped a lot of folks might actually stay home or in their rooms to celebrate Christmas Day. We might skip it after all... that was my sole reason for going. That changes things. I will chat with hubby about the mixer, though. I know we won't make the one this week, but maybe next week. I'm grading term papers for two classes this week, and everybody waited until the end of the course to turn them in (of course), so now I'm swamped. :badpc: I'll look for you if we go! I'll call out for Tammy Alphabet before things get started! If I miss it, have a wonderful time at WDW!!!

If I see you there, that would be great! If not, I understand, it will be really busy. I must be nuts!! I hope you have a great Christmas in any case and take it easy on those poor students....LOL.

Tammy

Never, never, never, NEVER go to the Magic Kingdom on Christmas day. It is beyond a madhouse. We're going to EPCOT that day since it's the largest park and can handle more people, so it won't seem as crowded. Of course, this IS my favorite park. (Shopping anyone? :rotfl: )

I wonder when more people are going to start posting on "our" thread? Surely there's more DISers going on "our" cruise.

Sorry I missed you, Tammy! I've been visited by the mean Ghost of Christmas Strep Throat. Started with a sore throat on Christmas Eve... full blown misery by lunchtime on the big day. Did I still cook??? Why, of COURSE! Neither wind nor sleet nor snow nor strep keeps a Mommy from her appointed cooking duties. Just started feeling better today... FINALLY. And of course, we didn't do Disney. Oh well... knock on wood, I shouldn't be sick next year for the CRUISE!!!
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and Happy New Year to all of you!!! :grouphug:

Oh... BTW... I ordered Birnbaum's Disney Cruise Line 2006 a couple of months ago (along with the 2006 PassPorter...), and it arrived today from Amazon--hot off the press! Not seeing anything new as of yet.... I got a note saying the PassPorter has been delayed until April/May timeframe.

Sorry you didn't get to Disney for Christmas, Kim. It seemed to me that it was more crowded than usual, but we still had a great time. We just took it easy for the most part. The Merry Member Mixer was pretty fun. Our 22-month-old DS didn't really care for the characters, but he was beginning to warm up to Pluto a little bit right before it was time to go.

We began to question whether or not to take him on the Disney cruise this December (yes, it is this year  ), but we decided that he'll either (1) be ready for the characters by then or (2) we'll just run interference for him.

Hopefully he'll warm up to the characters during our May/June trip.

Thanks Jody! And I think you'll find that, on the cruise, the characters don't just show up and surprise your children--you do need to go to THEM... your little one shouldn't feel threatened by them at all. You'll see them showing up all over the place, but never saw them actually walking up to little ones "unannounced." He should at least enjoy visiting the Disney Princesses by then--may not realize they're characters, even! :rotfl: Just really pretty girls! I could tell you a LLLOONNNGGGG story about my son and Cinderella... suffice it to say that he's still in love with her, and calls her his "girlfriend!" To this day, he'll stop dead in his 6-year-old tracks if anything with Cinderella comes on TV (live Cindy, not cartoon Cindy). I never felt remotely overwhelmed by the characters on the ship (though they are ALL at the character breakfast, and they ALL come to your table in rotation!)

Oh, I have no doubt that he'll LOVE the princesses. He's the world's biggest flirt and he's not even 2 years old yet. It was really funny on our trip to see how many women he flirted with. One woman didn't even speak english, but they seemed to not have a problem communicating. :rotfl:

Maybe I should book a princess breakfast for him...

That's TOO funny, Jody--we must be related! Our Luke was the biggest flirt when he was teeny (and he still is!) If we'd started keeping a Rolodex for him of girls' names and numbers when he was a year old, he'd be all set when he started dating! :rotfl2: But seriously, I highly recommend the Princesses. I'll warn you, though, that it's hard to find many things suitable for little boys with the princesses on them... believe me, I've looked.

Just for giggles, here's a recap of what happened to us, and why my DS will love Cinderella forever. We spent a few days at DisneyWorld before going on our cruise two years ago. On the day we went to the Magic Kingdom, we dropped by Cinderella's Castle to see if there might just happen to be any openings left for dinner. They had one--the last seating. We took it. Before dinner, as it got dark, we found a great spot near the front of the castle to watch the SpectroMagic Parade--we were right in front, and apparently were in a spot where they make stops to do the mini-shows in the parade--YEA!!! As we watched, it started getting close to dinner reservation time, so my hubby left me and DS there to watch the last of the parade while he trudged through the crowd to go check us in for dinner. At the end of the parade, we see Cinderella's glass carriage coming, and I'm telling DS to be sure to blow her a kiss and wave as she goes by. Well, they stop right in front of us, and of all the kids in the crowd, she points at my son, waves to him, and blows him kisses (it was obvious to everyone that she was flirting with my son!! Hilarious!) Anyway, he's starstruck. The parade ends, and he and I head off for the castle to meet hubby for dinner. We get there, sit down and eat (food was wonderful), and as we're halfway through dinner, Cinderella shows up and starts visiting tables (this doesn't happen all the time--they tell you not to expect it--turns out she was the one from the parade!) Well, she's stopping by every table except ours. DS is squirming... "Mommy, why isn't she comeing over HERE???" I ask the waitress... waitress says, "Well, I hope she'll make it, but she can't always stop at every table." We're eating dessert... still no Cinderella. Finally, we're the last table, and she comes over to visit. Instead of 2 minutes of pictures and autographs, she sits down, picks up my son and plants him in her lap, talks to him, kisses his cheeks, talks some more, hugs him lots, ends up spending 20 minutes with us! He was in heaven, and WE HAD NO FILM!!! I'd taken my last pix during the SpectroMagic parade! The waitress even ran downstairs to try and get us a disposable camera, or some film... no luck. I could have died. Okay, so to make it even longer, we leave a couple of days later for the cruise--our first. We board the ship, do all the fun sailaway stuff, go back in to get ready for dinner, and who do we see down in the foyer of Lumiere's but Cinderella!!!! "MOMMY!!! THERE SHE IS! THERE'S MY GIRL!!!" at the top of his little lungs. We got down there (no camera again), and stood in line for 10 minutes to see her (I sneaked up ahead of time and pre-briefed Cinderella about "their past"). Needless to say, Cinderella was perfection, remembered all that I'd said, and luckily, looked so much like our Cinderella at MK that he never noticed the difference. To this day, he drops everything if he sees Cinderella on TV.

We are having a family reunion at WDW then on the Magic for a 3 day cruise leaving on the 28th of Dec 2006...how does that work if you leave for 4 days on the 26th? Yes, it's the Magic and those are the dates reserved...hmmm.

I goofed, we're on the Wonder. Bummer, you all sounded like so much fun! Bon Voyage hope it's great!
