I love when the prices start moving like this.I am now down to $151. for a mid-size SUV, 12/7 - 12/14 [but not quite a week rental]. I could stick with my full size and be at $137., but I enjoy being up higher like an SUV. Alamo - using AD3868JST and AP discount.
Got Dollar full size today on carrentalsavers for $108.18. It's a little savings, but I'll take it. Lol.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this as I've never been asked with skipping counter (at the check out booth) to prove my Costco membership....so I'll ask. Have they ever asked for proof of AP?
Price drop today using the Black Friday code. $91.42 full size Dollar (12/10 8 am to 12/12 8 pm). Happy to be under $100!
So, I added a day to my trip. Could no longer use the code even to "modify my reservation". I probably should have called and asked, but didn't think about that until after I had changed the reservation. Anyway I now have a "manager's special" with dollar for 12/9 to 12/12 for $105.93. I don't think I've every used that option with Dollar so not sure what I'll get. Hoping for the best.
I highly recommend booking a 2nd reservation in case it’s something you don’t want. Sometime the Manager option is great. I got a convertible once although it was 40 degrees outside and couldn’t really enjoy it but they give you what they have the most of. I usually go up to ask what it is and if I am satisfied with the selection then I get it but if I am not I use my other reservation. Just make sure what ever reservation you make for your back up you never provide a credit card and you won’t have to worry at all about being charged
Thanks! I've used this option with other car companies and usually have had good luck. Hope it's the same with Dollar.
Alamo doesn't require counter service. I finalized my rental with Alamo and signed up as member which allows you to bypass the counter and go directly to your vehicle. All you need to show is the paperwork, your CC for the reservation and drivers license when leaving the garage.
We will be in Orlando 12/21 to 12/27 and the rental rates are obscene. I have what I think are "good" rates for this time period: $346 AAA rate for a standard car through Alamo, and $364 for a midsize SUV at Thrifty. We are staying offsite this trip, only doing one Disney day but also going to Universal one day and then out to Cocoa Beach to see a friend once or twice, so we need the vehicle, and DH would prefer something larger than midsize. Honestly, I've never paid this much for a week-long rental EVER. I'm going to keep on trolling for a better rate, but I don't think it's going to change much over Christmas week.
I made the reservation through carrentalsavers.com. I can't remember, it's either the senior discount rate or a AAA rate. I decided to drop the SUV and kept the standard size car at Alamo. Did this because Thrifty has the built in automatic toll transponder. We recently rented from them in Cleveland and the transponder was a nightmare. We had the check-out clerk at the airport exit kiosk make sure it was closed, as we brought our EZ-pass. We were charged by Thrifty ANYHOW, over $200 for two $1 tolls. Fortunately I could prove we'd paid those by sending documentation from my EZ-pass account, but there was one toll that took me forever to convince them wasn't ours. It couldn't have been ours; the toll booth is further from the Cleveland airport one way than we drove the entire time we had the vehicle! We finally got everything straightened out, but I don't want to go through that again. We'll rent from someplace OTHER than Thrifty from now on (and I'm getting Visitor Toll Pass for this trip as our EZpass won't work at all Florida tolls).$364 for a SUV is a great rate! Did you use any promo/coupon codes to get that rate?

I got a Hertz a few months back for $351 for similar dates, 1 less day and a small car, and can't come anywhere close since! (not even with Costco).
Was hoping to knock it down a bit but looking doubtful. I'll check National again, thanks![]()
