December 2015 Car Rental Rate watch

Alamo just came down pretty significantly for my time frame. 12/5 to 12/12 [8 day rental] standard vehicle at $153. total using AD2338FDF and Disney Passholder code. :thumbsup2

I am finding a decent rate for a Minivan through Alamo with the Visa Coupon code(must pay with a Visa)AD2338FDF , and the American Airlines Code 7014136. I am picking up in Orlando and dropping off in Tampa and it said it was $290.06 when I checked out but in my email the total is $238.89 12/18- 12/23.

We used Dollar for the first time in May (admittedly, with some trepidation.....we are Alamo fans through and through) and honestly, it was a very good experience. Sign up for Dollar Express and you can skip the counter and go straight to the garage. We were able to pick our own vehicle from what was available in our car class, which was a nice surprise (we had expected the car to be assigned). No problems or surprises even at or after drop off. If we can be critical at all, it was that Dollar's cars seemed to be a little more worn than Alamo's (but nothing extreme......just somewhat noticeable, particularly on the exteriors). Otherwise, it was a very good experience. We would rent from them again without hesitation if their price was right.

You have a great rate from Dollar for December! We are travelling Christmas week, and our rates are not nearly as favourable as the one you have secured.

Thanks! I keep checking every day just in case! I hope yours goes down! :)

Ours dropped a bit too. Using a coupon code and Costco contract ID (we are members), our rate for a standard vehicle is $246.38 for Dec 1-12.

Wow. I am so jealous of some of these deals!

I am trying to rent either a mini-van or full size SUV from Dec.16 to Jan 1. Pickup in MCO, dropoff in FLL.

The best I've been able to find is $2025.57 using the VISA code and COSTCO ID.

Would it be advisable to book and keep checking daily for new deals or is that not even worth wasting time booking? Reading through this thread, Alamo seems to be where people are finding the deals.

I always book and just keep checking and rebooking and canceling old one. It seems like I find the best deals in the 3-4 weeks before trip window but I keep checking anyway.

I also try varying the pickup/return time slightly. 16 days 1 hour is cheaper than 16 days- go figure

Thanks! I never knew about that site. Fox looks to be much cheaper, but what they call a "full" SUV is what Budget and Alamo calls intermediate. I found a slightly better price with Budget. $1750 for 16 days for Full size SUV (Ford Expedition). Debating whether we really need that big a vehicle.

Hi,
Have you tried the Costco site recently? I just entered your dates and Alamo was quite a bit less.
My dates are also lower today so I cancelled and rebooked today.

Another great tip, fantastic! Just cancelled and re-booked with Budget for $100 less. I'll check the costco site every day until we leave :)

We just booked 2 ALAMO's using the AD2338FDF and 7016427 - $ 127.36 for Standard and $150.79 for a Full Size. (12-2 to 12-8) Need to decide what we need. Really only need the full size getting our stuff to the hotel other wise the Standard if fine. (We always try to use Alamo)

Question on the Standard rental. If i remember right there isn't a Standard row to pick a car out of or is there now?? If there isn't how does that work, what row would you pick out of? Leaning towards the standard for the savings.

That's right, there is no standard row at MCO, you pick a car from the Full size row. We always book a standard to save some $$.

My Alamo standard size vehicle for Dec 1-12 dropped to $211 and change (from $244) using the coupon and COSTCO code, so I just re-booked. :yay:

I am now down to a total of $138.

do i have to have the AP to get the AP discount? (would assume yes) Asking as we are going to upgrade to AP's when we are there but wont have it before. I can upgrade now can you apply it? just wondering how that works.

We got our car rented for 145 for Dec 1 to Dec 7 out of MCO terminal plus 66 for insurance. Alamo is the company but booked through one of the online deal places. Saves us the hastle of DME and busses for all parks but MK, which we will use Disney busses.
