Ok folks.. I just got the go ahead to book a December trip!

Here is the rundown.
I got a free dining Pin that was good for some dates in December. I didn't think I could use it because the last day you could check in was the 13th and the kids had school and dh is working. So we decided February or maybe the week after Christmas. Well you all were quite helpful in talking me out of the week after Christmas

So tonight he reminded me that the week before Christmas holidays for the kids was all movies, and assemblies and the like for the kids. That they don't actually do much work at all. And while they enjoy Christmas prep at school.. I am pretty sure they would enjoy a surprise Christmas trip to Disney a whole lot more
Dh is not certain he can get it off but he thinks so. We won't know if he can until the end of September.
So.. I will book with my PIN now. I will be able to book all my ADR's on Saturday, and if in September we find that we can't go, we go back to the February plan and the kids are none the wiser. I would release all the ADR's right away if we can't.. still giving someone out there 2 and half months to snatch them up.

I just might get my Christmas trip.. without the crowds!!!!

I am not going to change my ticker in case the kids see it.

pigletto- my DD said the same thing about my DGD missing the week after Thanksgiving. Marks close just as we will be leaving and traditionally in her school there is not so much that she cannot catch up. We are looking forward to Christmas in the World, Your family is going to have a great time!!!!!!

I am just so excited! Today is our wedding anniversary.. this was the best gift ever!

It will be the major Christmas present for the kids. We would get back 3 days before Christmas. I would still do stockings and some small items (books, a board game, some trinkets) but this trip would be the bulk of Christmas. Ds just told us he knew Santa wasn't real and it was us last year.. so it's a good time to do this. Plus they get presents from Grandmas and Grandpas.
It's a little different for us, but it's a positive change to have experiences instead of more "stuff".
I don't want to get too ahead of myself but I am already planning the surprise in my mind!
We surprised them a few years ago and could not have gotten a better reaction. I suspect this will be a big hit!!

there is another thread on the themeparks board talking about not buying Xmas Party tickets til the last minute in case it rains, its making me depressed, I only have one night that we can go to the party ... what if it rain

Does anyone else here have experience of december weather?

Daily ADR update. I know this is thrilling.

I booked Sci-Fi Dine In for our DHS day for 4:30. That is really early for us to eat dinner. We usually eat dinner at 7, but we want to be done in time to see the Osbourne Lights turn on. BIL and SIL will be headed home by that day, so we will just be a party of 6 by then. The cars fit 6 people, but I still go the warning that our party could be broken up! I don't like that. I am not crazy about this reservation. This is one I could see letting go, especially since it doesn't require a cc hold. If a car holds 6 people, and we are a party of 6, then dangit, we should be together in one car!

I wouldn't worry about it. I booked a few restraunts and it popped up with that remark...and we have a party of 3. Maybe they will take my toddler away and put her at her own table??

Which is awesome becuase we are planning to rent DVC points for either AKL or BWV, both which book up a year in advance. We trid this year and were to late back on March.

Hi pigletto! Deep breaths! I think we're heading down at the same time. Today I'm trying to figure out my ADR for tomorrow morning too Fortunately, we're on the free quick service dining plan so really I'm just figuring out where to put the 2 ts meals we're going to pay oop for. One will be the CP. Many have said CP packages will open up on June 26 (last year it was later in July).

Does anyone know if you can cancel a CP package once you book it? I've googled around and can't seem to find a clear answer. I'm really holding out hope that the "TBA" for the end of our trip is Edward James Olmos, but I know that's slim. So do I book Olivia Newton John and risk it ending up being Olmos? Would I be able to cancel it and rebook if that happened?:

Yesterday I made my last ADRs for the split stay portion of the trip. I also went back and checked all my other ADRs that are now past their exact 180 days, and I was able to get a better time on one of them.

I also decided that we won't be trying for Be Our Guest. We never do TS in MK (except CP before opening) because it interferes to much with park plans. But I was thinking BOG would be fun. Until I realized its only TS at dinner. And that would mess up my parade plans. and given that it will be brand new, we probably won't brave the crowds for CS lunch either. I hate standing in line for food more than anything (except restrooms during F&W). So that's another item off my list.

Now it's just waiting for LE Cellier and R&C.

On a different front I've been researching Pin Trading - I'm planning to surprise my son and his grandfather with starter sets. And I've been buying small gifts for my "12 Days of Christmas" pixie dust theme. I already picked out a small tree that I can get shipped directly to the resort.

We went last December, 6 nights. One day it rained from about 4-6.

I had this message with Prime Time & Holly Brown Derby - I called Dining and they said that particular time did not have bookings for 5 (in your case, they probably have cars filled with 2/3 or 4 people so you'll be split across those spare seats). The CM changed our dining times, by only 15mins so not a big deal.

Call them and see if you can get it sorted that way

Been 3 times in mid-December. The first time in 08 was picture perfect. Wore shorts and a t-shirt to the Christmas party. Didn't get too hot during the day (and I'm a total heat whimp).

2010 was a different story. Bitter cold. Used hand warmers, tons of layers plus blankets to get trough the party. Rained one morning ALL morning.

Last year in 2011 it was close to perfect agan. Highs near 80 (almost too hot by my whimpy standards) and rain just one night, a night we did the party. Got brutally and painfully soaked in a sudden downpour on BTMRR. But we still had an awesome time. And I got a new t-shirt and towel to bring home! Although standing in the gift shop for half an hour of party time waiting for the rain to clear drove me NUTS!

We hate December weather so much we're going back again this year

Thank you .... I bet they all went in 2010 ... I did ask if they were referring to 2010 as I know that year was particularly bad. Feel much better now, had a 'moment' last night
