December 2012 Code Watch

Okay, I priced out room-only at All Stars for your dates:

Std room-only = $490 pre-tax ($554 w/tax)
less 30% disc = $343 pre-tax ($387.59 w/tax)

FREE DINING promo showing *Preferred room only as available:
Preferred room adds $85 to cost
Pfd room-only = $565 pre-tax ($638 w/tax)
less 30% disc = $395.50 pre-tax ($446.92 w/tax)

6-day MYW park passes @ $296.07 each = $592.14

*ROOM-ONLY @ Pfd level ($446.92) + 6 day MYW park passes ($592.14) = $1,039.06, but you still haven't allowed for food.

FREE DINING offer:
Pfd room w/6 day MYW & QS dining $1,232.88 TOTAL - LESS $1,039.06 room only = $193.82
Pfd room w/6 day MYW & TS dining $1,398.38 TOTAL - LESS $1,039.06 room only = $359.32

*Will you spend $359.32 or less (or $193.82 less if QS is more your style) on food during your stay? If not, go with the Package.

(*Comparison uses Preferred room since Standard does not show available with package. If you do room only with Standard, your savings would be $59.33 more)
You are welcome. pixiedust:

By the way, where did you get the 30% discount - is it a pin?

Thank you so much for this, it was beyond helpful! And yes, the 30 percent off discount was a pin.

Hi guys! So I have never planned out a big Disneyland trip. Usually we drive there one day, go to Disneyland the next day, and head home the following day. And we just stay at a close by hotel. But in December we want to do the big 5 day trip. Arrive on December 1st and stay until December 5th. Would love to stay at one of the on site hotels, Grand Californian, Disneyland Hotel, or the Pier. We are going for my Sons birthday, he is turning 4. And for my birthday haha, his is Dec 2nd, mine is the 4th.

Anyways, just looking for some help. I went to the Disney website and planned out what we wanted it to stay at the Pier it came to about $2200. Without any codes or discounts applied. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Also, looking at maybe Desert Inn and Suites across the street to stay at. That is where I have stayed in the past and always had a good time. Close walking distance and a nice hotel. Plus from what I see it might be $1000 cheaper.

Went on and switched to FD and upgraded it. I think we might could have saved about 100 dollars keeping the 30 percent off room only, BUT that would have us bringing lunches and crunching numbers during every meal. I have a feeling it may be nice to get down there and only have to worry about gratuity for our TS meals.

I am starting to think that AoA isn't really pricing out as a value resort. It seems to be somewhere between a value and a moderate. Is it because it is a new resort and eventually it will be more in line with the other values or will it always be a little higher? I realize it has suites that are more involved than the ones at AS but does it really merit that much of a price increase? I still want to stay there just once but it seems a bit steep for a value.

I think the in-between pricing is intentional. I assume the price will stay that way.

We have never had the option to experience free dining before....I am just being curious about how this works for December. If we checked in on December 20th would we receive free dining for the 6 nights were are staying? I am guessing there are blackout dates and Christmas would not be included, etc? OR would it even work checking in on the 20th.

If you check in on one of the dates, you should get Free Dining for the length of your stay--up to 14 days. It does seem crazy that Christmas is included.

as long as you check in on a date that offers free dining you will get it for the whole time you are there....we changed our plans from 12/22-12/27 to 12/20-12/26...we got an extra day and night and free dining for the whole trip by changing our check in date......first time for us with free dining, we usually opt for the room discount, but am more excited for the free dining!:cheer2:

We are checking in on 20th December until 29th and got free dining for the whole time. I am so excited. Not all discounts do but this one does :) I saved almost $1000!

:cool1: I just booked Dec 20th to Dec 30th & got the Free dinning for the whole time. I saved over $2000.00.

We just booked ours, too. Were going to be there 22-29th but changed it to get free dining from December 20th til the 27th. Free dining the whole time. Things is though, we like the Value resorts and Movies is all sold out, so is music. We will be in Sports like last time. That is okay, it seems like it is less walking from all of the buildings to get to the busses so I am okay with that. WOO HOO!!!! :)

Yes, you will get free dining right through Christmas. Last year our dates were Dec. 17-27th and we had free dining for the full 10 days. This year we'll be there from the 20th of Dec. till Jan 3rd and yes we have free dining for the 14 days. Both children are considered adults so we are saving x4..yippeeee.

How did you get free dining? I thought the last day for it was December 13th? We'll be checking I the 17th through the 22nd and would love free dining. But our reservation is already booked. It's not completely paid for yet though. Does anyone know how that would work? Is it even possible to get it with an existing reservation before the announcement? Or will they just credit it back to me?

It was extended through the 20th just recently. If your checkin date is during that time youneed to call and see if it's available at your resort. Your new total will be adjusted, and if you've overpaid they can refund the difference.

Awesome! Thanks! I'm staying at AoA so fingers crossed. I'm calling now

She said I had a better deal being on the quick service plan. That adding it would make it go up. I don't want to add a bigger plan because I don't need more than what the quick service plan offers. I get a quick service and a sit down meal, we always do breakfast at the resort. I think I'm going Ty back, she took 10 minutes to even figure that out so I'm hoping maybe she got confused.

We are in the LM room, my girls love Ariel. She was my favorite and my girls love her just as much (it's a tie between her and Rapunzel). I can upgrade to a suite but it'll be more and the hubby says no way (plus goodbye Ariel room)However if I switch to POR it'll actually save me some money. We only have $700 left to pay anyway so I'm not sure if it's really worth it. I really wanna stay at AoA, and the girls are sure to joy the LM room more, so I'm thinking I'll just keep it as is.

Based on what you've said it really doesn't sound like it is worth it for you to switch. I would just keep an eye on the special offers and see if it opens up a bit more as we get closer to Christmas. I'm not sure that I would have changed all my stuff around to get the discount, I just got lucky that the dates and discount worked for me.

I can't believe they still haven't offered AP discounts. With everyone filling up the rooms with free dining I really think they aren't going to give us much if at all. It is really late for the discount to be coming out.
