I originally reserved a car through Advantage but cancelled because I found a better deal with Dollar. I have a full-size (Ford Taurus or similar) booked from December 12-28 for a total price of $316.67! I felt that was an awesome price for 16 days! I booked back in October and couldn't even touch that price for the 10 days of our October trip to WDW!

Unfortunately, DW will only allow me to get SUVs; those and minivans did not drop.

Just checked the Alamo rates for my week.........a mini van is $1209 with tax.....I think I need a defibrillator .

Just got my new car rental price. Dollar for 12/16 to 12/20 (considered a week with no Saturday night overnight...blech). Full size for $97.95 or $145.08 total. Still high for five days, but better than the $231 that I had originally.

I am looking for the dates Dec 13th thru Dec 27th, and the Lowest I find for the full size is $125.32 per week using the city special. How did you get the price of $97.95 per week? Do tell.

If you go to name your own price and plug in the bid of $20 from Dec 7 -15 the total with taxes and fees would have been $251. Dollar is $271 inc taxes but no free additional driver. You can get $280 inc taxes with Enterprise using Costco and includes free additional driver. It depends if the free additional driver is important to you since depending which rental company you end up with you could be looking at another $10/day extra.

Just tried it again tonight and the price for a full size came up as $202.51 and a premium came up at $134.10 ($187.43 total).

Rental car pricing just seems so incredibly random. I just check a couple of time every day. Still trying to get a better price for an upcoming business/vacation trip to Ft. Myers Nov 10 (husband is playing in a baseball tournament and I have a three day business meeting in Ft. Lauderdale - how fair is that?). Of course we are there for 8 days so the car rental is one week plus one day. It's amazing what they charge for that extra day!

Hotwire came back tonight with $11.95/day compact--total of $126.74. Was kind of worried about using Hotwire because the car rental agency does not show up until you book. I got Alamo which gets good reviews so I feel good about that. Only downside is I can't get a lower rate or use any express check in program (if they have one). Decided it's worth it to save over $100 the rates I've been getting for weeks now. Now I can check this off the list!

I had a small SUV booked through Dollar...at $265 for 8 days. $100 less for a full size car from Alamo. Ty, Priceline.

We used the kiosks last September with our hotwire reservation and Alamo. It was very easy and quick!!

I was able to book a Minivan with Dollar last week for $413 final price for the dates Dec 3 - Dec 17 (2 weeks). Now it is double that price!!!
Glad I booked when I did!!
Now I just hope my dates don't change.

I think Alamo rates are starting to come down for December dates! I used the Costco (7015309) code and the Visa coupon (AD2338FDF) for my parents' rental beginning December 1 for 3 weeks and knocked $120 off their previous price. They're renting in Fort Myers, but I thought I'd give people a heads up, because I bet that MCO will be down too.

We're picking up at MCO on December 6 and dropping off at Fort Myers airport on December 21st. I can't get our rate below $550 (which is with Budget), but I'm hoping that maybe it will drop next week once we pass the one month out point.

A couple days ago, I got Alamo Mid size for $195 12/13-12/21 ( 8 days - 2 hours) I've not been able to use Alamo my last couple trips. Will keep checking for lower, but that's not bad. I prefer Alamo because of using the kiosk and with Alamo Insiders we can both drive.

Hi Everybody,

Our family of 5 will be at Disney December 8-17 and I've read Robin's guide and will be trying priceline for a bid on a minivan or a standard SUV. Wish us luck! It looks like a lot of us will be down there similar dates. I'll let you know how it goes!

Robin, how do you make multiple Priceline bids when you get locked in? I'm not sure I understand, but I will go make a first bid and try it out....

OK, so I did it through priceline and I think I did quite well....

December 8 2012 - December 17 2012 -- 9 day rental -- Minivan
Purchased: Avis at MCO airport
Rate: $20/day
Total cost with fees: $282.09

The best price I had seen a while bak was about $400 with all fees for a minivan.

The only mistake I may have made is our car pick up is at 7:30 and our return time is at 6 a.m. (our flight arrives at 7 p.m. and departs at 8 a.m.) My husband says I should have made the car return time about an hour later.... I wonder if we have to stress about hitting 6 a.m. or not.... I think we will be OK. I will ask at the desk if we will be OK if we end up a little bit later with the car return. It will be a very early morning coming home.

Back to priceline, I think I got a *great* rate. My first unsuccessful bid was $14/day for a full size SUV. Then I bid $20/day for the minivan.
