December 2012 Car Rentals

To get the really low rates, it seems to require at least a week rental. If you could return on the 8th your rate would be under $100. before tax.

Those are my exact dates: 12/1 - 12/8, but I am still seeing $293. base at Lock and Low using kiss2. :confused3

You have to book at least EIGHT days to get that rate.

Exactly - I mentioned that in this thread a few days ago. But a PP said 12/1 - 12/8 could get you under $100. with Lock and Low and that's not so. [I'm a poet and I know it] :thumbsup2

Okay you made me look again and now I see the higher rate. However, if you pick up in the morning and drop off in the afternoon (making it longer than just seven days) you will see the lower rate.

I wasn't trying to harass you, I promise. :flower3: Just trying to clarify to another why I said what I said. You are definitely right if you have a solid 9 day rental. All's good in the transportation world. ;)

For all those "Advantage Renters" i posted on trip adviser for any recent users review. Let you know what comes back

For those of you who have rented from Enterprise, how are they compared to Alamo? Do you get to pick your own car? Any additional fees beyond what you can see online? Clean cars? Non-smoking cars?

Wish we could but flying out on Dec 6th

If you pick up at 11am and drop off at noon it adds another day to the rental and that might get you a better rate

In 2010 I rented a full size with Enterprise. I received a Dodge Charger with low miles and very clean. The service was excellent, no hidden fees, they were not pushy about trying to sell add ons and no hidden fees. They chose the car for us.

In 2011 I rented with Alamo, love the kiosk but the car was meh... It was a full size again - I don't remember the maker but it was not as nice as the Charger from enterprise. Service was good- not great and not bad either. I would have no issues renting from Alamo. My issue that day was probably timing because there was very few cars to choose from.

I think the car selection is hit or miss. From what I gather National, Alamo and Enterprise share from the same pool. I am actually very happy to find good rates right now with Enterprise because the service and car were both very good - I was nervous about trying Dollar or Budget this time around....

These are responsed I got from Tripadvisor. Crazy how when you ask a simple question people can come up with not so pleasant responses. This is only my opinion of responses and maybe I'm reading into it more then I should

Has anyone used this rental service lately. Previously reviews seem really bad but those mostly before Hertz bought them out. we got an incredible deal($87 total on mid size) for 6 days but now having "rental remorse" with bad reviews or lack of reviews. Thanks for the help.

They rent cars. That is their job. They do it as good as anyone else. They won't have a flashing board with your name on it and they won't have a prime location in the airport and you may have to walk past several counters to get to theirs. You may spend a few more mins at the counter because they are not as efficient as the bigger names. Aside from that the cars they rent are no different than any of the other company. In reality you can have an issue with any rental car company. Using one that doesn't advertise nationally has no impact on that risk. I can promise you that there has been a bad review for every car rental company at the airport.

sunngod is correct. If you require your name in lights, the need to pick your car, or a membership of some kind to save a few minutes, this is not the company for you.

I have used Advantage at MCO and other places. No problems. Cars have been new and charged as expected.

Don't need anything special just looking at reviews, don't want to be overcharged and harrassed to upgrade or buy insurance or not have car available. Just was asking if anyone has had these problems lately with this company.

some people just think they are "all that and a bag of chips" ..definiltely not Diser's

It's a shame that people get so snarky when answering a post. You wanted their advise, not their opinion ! Although Disers are a tad more respectful and informative, I too have experienced snarky posters on these boards.
Would love to know more about peoples experience with Advantage myself though.

I must be "All that and a bag of chips" because I agree with them and didn't think they were all that snarky :rolleyes1. You DO pay extra for the "nationally advertised" names, to be able to pick out your car from the "aisle" or to have your name in lights. I privately roll my eyes every time someone says they need to book with Alamo or National because they think that picking out a car is worth extra $$. It's fun and all that, but not worth more than a few bucks IMO.

Point is that I was not asking that. I was asking about recent experience with the company. Basically "Have you used this company and what is your experience" Nothing more and nothing less. An honest opinion about the company. How hard is that?

with all do respect, she wasn't asking for anyones opinion.. just experiences, good or bad. The "name up in lights and how far you have to walk" was really exaggerated, condenscending and just snarky *IMHO*
