December 2011 - Christmas with Mickey!! Who's Coming Along and Planning Help Thread!!

We'll be at AKL Nov 29-Dec 9!! Me, DH, DS (10), and DD (5). December at Disney is amazing!! So festive and beautiful! We're always happy to escape the Minnesota freeze for a little bit :)

You are staying the same dates we are. Are you staying on the Jambo or Kidani side? We are DVC members - we will be on the Kidani side.

We are thinking of changing our late September ressie to December 11-17th. :) It would be our first time visiting Disney World in December.

I know about how to pack in regards to clothes but is there anything else that is a must to pack for a December trip?

Heather - the main thing about December is to pack for layers, layers, layers! I have been in December several times and the weather is quite wonky. One day in 2009 it was in the 80s and the next day the high was 43. Then 2 days later it was COLD in the morning and by noon it was humid and uncomfortable.

You really want to pack so that you can dress in layers. This will allow you to pull hoodies and long sleeve shirts off until it gets cool and you need them again. Plus, you can wrap those around your waist.

I haven't even been to WDW yet and I'm already planning the next trip :sad2: So just out of curiousity when they say Disney is busy at Christmas how bad is it really? Because I would love to go next year from the 23rd-27th, but if it was going to be totally miserable with crowds maybe that would deter me. I figured I would ask in this thread even though its the December 2011 thread you guys probably have a good idea :goodvibes

Okay, well first I want to say: early December was once a real gem and the crowds were very low. It is not that way anymore. As early December gets more crowded from year-to-year, so do the later weeks of the month.

The parks are manageable until about the 18th or 19th. Starting around that time, the parks gradually get more and more crowded.

The dates you noted above are the most crowded days of the month. It is doable as long as you have a plan, are not in a hurry, can deal with crowds and are okay with getting to the parks for rope drop.

bytheblood, you have done an amazing job on this. I'd have went nuts by now, lol.
When you next update, can you switch us. We're now staying at POR & added a day to the end, so December 10-18!! :santa:

Can't wait for December!!

No problem, I made the change. Thanks for asking kindly. :goodvibes

And thanks for the compliment. I only update it every few weeks so that I don't go nuts. I had to turn my private messages off though....despite plainly asking at the top of the first post, people are still sending me PMs to change their info or add them to the list.

I wanted to get someone's take on my MVMCP day plans.
We're going to the party on December 13. That had originally been my DHS day, with Fantasmic that night & the Osbourne lights.
Instead, I'm thinking of switching Fantasmic & Osbourne to the Thursday evening after AK.
Anyway, I thinking of changing my Tuesday plans around to do DHS in the earlier part of the day. Have breakfast at H&V @ 9am. Then do a sit down lunch at Sci-Fi around 3pm.
Hop over to the MK around 5pm. Do the party.

Then do AK Thursday morning, w/ TH ADR @ 8:30am, then lunch at FTBBQ.
Then hop over to DHS at 5pm to see Fantasmic at 6:30pm then over to see the Osbourne Lights.

Does that sound doable or too much?? Did it even make sense, lol?

Either that, or the party on Wednesday night (Wednesday is our day "off"). But then I think my TH ADR is too early on Thursday.

I hate deciding to do something & then changing it up again!

Your idea sounds very doable. It does not sound like too much, especially not for December. :goodvibes

I would not want to stay up really late one night and then go to an early breakfast the next morning.

We are booked to fly in in Christmas day. I would live to have some Christmas cheer in our room. I called Disney floral about a little tree and was told $400. :scared1: Any other ideas? Also I what the parades will be like since the MVMCP will be over a week before we get there.

TIA
Noelle

December 16-23

December can't get here soon enough:yay:

I've spent a lot of time looking thru the forum and for some reason this year I can't find the info.....

Can anyone tell me why going 12/10 thru 12/18 would be a BAD idea?

These are actually good dates! :thumbsup2 You are leaving before it gets nuts!!!

I love this idea! :thumbsup2
Do you mind if I use it? Do you mail it to yourself at your resort, if so how far ahead do you mail it?

Of course not! :) Yes, mail it to yourself at the resort. You want to allow about 10 days of actual running mail time...so be sure to account for any holidays like Thanksgiving.

Send it like this:

I added you. Do you actually live by Lake Travis in Texas or is your Dis name coincidental?
I was thinking the same thing when I saw that screen name. Because I actually live about a mile from Lake Travis :)
