December 2008 Code Watch

I have to vent.....I'm trying to stay positive here, but called the last couple of days and have got mixed messages from the CM's. One says to keep calling, one says it's not available for my dates ( 12/7-14th), one says they can put me at CS but for $600 more! :confused3 Is anyone having any luck with code QXG right now???? Just making sure I'm not wasting my time!!! THANKS!!!:goodvibes

I would try to do it online by yourself by going to tickets and reservations, then specials, then fall specials, then get started. You don't have to put the code in but you will have to keep putting in different hotels to see what your options are. It might just be one date that is throwing you off.

I'm going 12/8 - 12/12 and they had taken that week out of fall promo but on mousesavers.com they had said to try anyways. i did a quote for my dates with CSR rack and promo rate online and there was a difference of about $400 or so. Even though our dates weren't mentioned it worked! I had called too the day the codes came out and the CM had said the only thing available at the moment was Boardwalk.... but i have ressies at WL and still waiting to see if anything will come out for it. . .doubtful but. . lol i can wish :cloud9:

Well... I think I can help boost your spirits. A fellow DISer has the same dates as I. Dec 6-12. If you look in the description of the QXG code, those dates are not mentioned to be included. She is paying $30 more for CSR vs her Value resort. So, I do not believe your dates have anything to do with it. I do believe that they feel as though they need to give a reason as to why you can't get it, and that is what comes out because to them, it doesn't matter why...it just matters that you can't get the discount.

Also, the res center sees exactly what you would see on the website. It's a live system. Anybody can correct me if I am wrong, but Im very certain that you can check as many times as you want online...wait for something to open up. An easy way to check is that when you go to the screen where you fill in your dates etc, there is an advance search option I think it's called. Just a link and you can chose to search all moderate resorts or specific ones. I just find it so much easier.

Keep trying...don't get frustrated. This is supposed to be a magical time.

Also, as soon as I get a rate disc online I will for sure let you all know on here. I am a stay at home mom...so Im hoping this will help me to find one on time.

I sort of just figure that they take a handful of some resorts and throw them into the pool of QXG. They book up, and wait a while. I think it's a game to them. Like throwing meat to wolves. Anybody hungry??? ;)

I am trying to book the cheapest Disney vacation I can for Dec 2008. I am confused about the codes and everything like that. I read that some of you put a deposit down. Does that mean you pay the rest when you get there? Or at a later date? Could someone help me please. Should I get a TA, use DW online or AAA? What is the best way to do this. I have 4 daughters (9,7,5,5) and it will be them plus my husband and I. This would be their first trip. Thank you so much.

Deposit at booking with balance paid at 45 days out.

Depends on what you're booking....

Room only you have to pay a deposit of 1 night's stay with balance due at checkin.....cancellation must be at least 5 days before arrival in order to receive your deposit back.

Package, which is room plus ticket or dining, you must pay a deposit of $200 and the balance is due 45 days before arrival. If you cancel after that 45 days you lose your $200 deposit.

I would recommend checking online to get an idea of what is available, and then either booking it online, or really, I'd probably call Disney to be sure that there isn't another discount. It doesn't seem to be consistent....people have spoken of getting better rates by calling, but I got a much better rate on Disney's own website, so go figure. Once you know what the online rate is it's easy to decide if the call nets a better rate.

I never did figure out how to get a AAA discount online....I figured out the General Public and Annual Pass discounts, but had to call to ask about the AAA rate. Calling Disney you can get ROOM ONLY for AAA, if you want the AAA rate with a package (tickets and/or dining) then you MUST go through AAA directly.

If you do go through AAA, read through some of the AAA threads here to find AAA agents that specialize in Disney, especially since it's your first trip. There are a lot of reports of AAA agents not really knowing what they're talking about and doing things like telling people they don't need to make reservations for meals (yeah, if you don't mind the probablity of not eating at a Table Service at regular meal times)....and other totally inaccurate information. BUT...there are some AAA agents that have gone through the Disney College of Knowledge and therefore know what they're talking about. You do NOT have to use a local AAA agent, you can use one anywhere in the country. Everything is done by email/phone/mail anyway, so even if you use local you aren't likely to ever go inside anyway.

One thing to realize....with 6 people there will be many resorts that cannot accomodate you.

Values: I think that All Stars Music is the only one with Suites for 6;

Moderate: Cabins at Ft Wilderness and Coronado Springs can accomodate 6

But all the deluxes should be able to accomodate 6.

QXG will work for KING rooms at CSR and OKW if you are there Dec 20th that is.

I am so excited, I just called and got Yacht club for Dec 5 -7 for $259 a night! I cannot believe it, when I looked on the passholder website the rate listed was $325. I called to get a rate for Boardwalk Villa's and I forget what she said but it was much higher than the $260 rate I saw on AAA.com. But then she told me she had the Yacht Club for $259 a night and I said I'll take it!!! Can you tell I'm excited. We were staying at ASMo but pop warner week starts on the 7th and I told DH lets give ourselves a little early xmas present and splurge on hotel and he said YES so I jumped before he changed his mind. This also makes my life easier because my plan has us doing epoct on the 5th, DHS on the 6th and walking around the boardwalk on the 7th in the am so now it's all in walking distance. :woohoo:

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together!

Anyone having any luck getting a code for the week of 12/7-14th? :confused3 I'm trying daily and no luck (so far!)...it seems like every day it's going to happen when I call in but then the dates don't work out. This morning I called and they came up with something.....if I moved to Coronado Springs it would cost me almost $600 more....not exactly what I was hoping for.:sad2:
One of the CM's I talked to last week told me to be persistant...I"m really hoping all this work pays off!!:) Hope you guys are having more luck than me!!!:goodvibes

I don't think it is going to happen at all....if you go to the Disney website and look at either the GP or the AP deals they list the dates that they're good, and every one of them specifically stop at December 6 and start up again at December 15 or 16.

ANother thread suggests that it's because that's the week that the 40% pin codes that were mailed a couple months ago were available, and so those lucky ducks booked it all.

Oh well, we'll be there for 9 days before Thanksgiving when the bookings still seem to be plentiful.....so I'm guessing that's going to be the lowest crowds we'll see our trip....so I've changed our touring plan to get all the "must ride, must see" things done during those 9 days.....then when we return from Grandmas after thanksgiving we'll have two weeks that look to be rather full resort wise, so we'll use those to lesiurely tour around and visit characters and soak up the pixie dust, and hopefully not feel the pressure of having to wait in long lines because "I gotta ride this before we go home". It's very likely that we won't be back next year so we don't want to say "we'll do it next time". Here's crossing fingers hoping that works for us.

So should I just give up totally??? I booked a while ago for Dec 8-15 at CBR with dining. (2 adults) We are guaranteed a king size bed. Should I try for a discount? What do I do? Literally, how does this work?

THANKS

Well, I'm not one to actually ever give up, lol.....but what I have done is decide that if no other discount comes along, I'm fine....it's in the budget and I'll spend it. That does NOT however mean that I won't welcome a discount with open arms.

So...I'll keep calling every few days....I'm also calling about changing a few late night ADRs so far without success either........and if there is something great, if not, I'll remember that I'm find, I have a room I can live with and in less than 3 months I'll be sitting in that room, lol. As for the ADRs, I figure if I can't get it changed than I'll just have to go back to said room and take a nap before dinner, lol.....because otherwise I'm not sure I can stay awake to eat at 9pm.

So....if you can keep checking without it stressing you out, then do it. If getting a no answer is going to be stressful, then I'd suggest just accepting the price you have and finding something else to obsess over. :cool1:

I'm with you....if I get a code GREAT!:goodvibes If not, the trip is already paid for...it would just be nice to have the extra money to give back to Disney while we're there or have it to help with the holidays. Any little bit helps, right? I will say, however, I'm obsessed with calling and I will say, if I dont' get a code, I'll be a bit disappointed but it's not going to ruin this dream vacation we have coming up!!! :santa:

What rate code did you use?

I really don't know what code was applied, when I called I asked if they had any AAA or AP rates available for 12/5-7 at the BWV and then the CM told me that she had an AP rate at YC for the $259. This is a lot of $$$ for us and I can't believe we are doing it but it's cheaper than paying rack rate.

I called yet again to see if maybe someone had cancelled their discount room. I got a very knowledgeable young man called Ferris. He tried so hard to get me some kind of discount for at least some of my stay between 12/9 and 12/17. There was nothing. Even if someone did cancel a discount room, since the hotel (Polynesian) is at capacity, the room would get back in the system as rack rate. The only rooms available there are the Lagoon View and that is a lot more than I am spending right now. Oh well, I will try next year.
