December 2008 Code Watch

OMG I am so excited I can barley breathe let alone type! I called last week to request a special needs room. Later when I tried to use the infamous code the CM said we were in building 7; I looked at the map on this thread and saw it was way far away from Classic Hall. So tonight it was quiet in my house, ( a rare occasion) so I called special needs and asked them for a closer room. After I explained there was no preferred rooms @ the POP DEC 6- 14 ( because the whole resort is sold out) the lovely CM said their was availability for a preferred room! Well I figured go for gold and asked to apply the code and IT WORKED!!!!:cool1:  I previously had a $120 balance because I upgrade our tickets to water park and more. Now WDW owes ME $ 52. after the preferred room up grade.!!! How or why this time there was availability I do not know. I have called twice a day, and looked online and there was never any availability!!! DO NOT GIVE HOPE!!! I know the code didn't save us a ton but we got preferred room and water park and tickets ( plus a little extra pocket change for the price of our original package!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes The CM was the most wonderful person!! This has really made my night!! Thank you to all the your disers who told me to keep trying!!!

Congrats!!:thumbsup2 I called a couple of times last week and had no luck for Pop, preferred the same week (actually the 7-14th) and there wasn't anything and after reading your post, called again and they just told me it wasn't available that week. :scared1: So.....do I just keep calling in hopes someone will give me a discount or is better to just give up?? Ijust don't get that some people get it and some don't....but I'm new at this so maybe I'm missing something?? Thanks!!!:goodvibes

This morning I checked on-line (like I have done every morning since the code came out) and found that a preferred room at CBR was available for our dates. So I immediately got on the phone and was able to switch over from a standard room. I am beyond thrilled right now. We are still saving over $450 from our original price.

WOW....that's great! :goodvibes Wonder what I'm doing wrong.....maybe because I'm staying in value??:confused3

For anyone still looking for an AP rate for the first week of December, The Disney website currently has POFQ and the Cabins available.

What am I missing? I tried again and its telling me there are no cabins available for that week. What code did you use?

Just got off phone. Their telling me it could be that i'm arriving on Thanksgiving Day, so I tried different dates for arrival and its still a no go. Cabins are unavailable for the week of 11/27 - 12/06 for any discounts!

I was doing my usual DisBoard reading this morning and saw your post!!:lovestruc In my head went, "yeah yeah, too bad I am not an AP holder." I've called 3 different times since the general public code came out. Always the same old story..."Sorry, but we can move your ressie to CBR or POR." I really love POFQ and since I was paid in full, I would just decline and stay where I was.

Well persistance and reading the Boards, pays off!!:cool1: :cool1: After reading ipoohbear626's post from this morning I figured what the heck. Called I did. I got the best CM on the phone. Her name was BeBe and she was extremely nice and helpful. I gave her the information and about fell out of my chair when she said, "I have something for you at POFQ." I just saved over $500.

Keep trying guys!!! I did and it paid off!!!:yay: :yay:

I put in 11/30 - 12/10 on the AP side of the Disney website and the Cabins came up at I think $185/night.

Hi guys! I frequent the wedding board since I am getting married at Disney in December, and I have a ressie at GF Dec 4-10. I am an AP holder and FL resident and every time I call nothing is available at GF, even though I called the day the rates were posted. One CM said it looks like GF didn't get the rates that it is the OKW and Saratoga.

Is this normal? Will this change as we get closer?

Thanks!

I have found for the last two years that they offer AP discounts to certain resorts. If they have enough rooms booked at a resort then they might feel that they don't need to offer an AP discount. They do seem to push OKW and SS with discounts quite often and maybe they have more rooms than other resorts or just maybe people without the DVC are just not booking those resorts and they want to fill them.

We couldn't get the rate for GF last December

I haven't kept up with this thread and I haven't been checking for codes!!! I have been so busy at work, now I am kicking myself! But, it seems that there has not been a Disney Visa code yet??? We used this last year as well as the AAA discount, so I'm hoping for that. (Although we did have to move resorts last year and won't do that again). I am sure that chances for use of the GP at this point are nil so we'll hope for the Visa code!
BTW, we really were able to apply both of these discounts last year - our AAA TA is really clueless about Disney (I am not even sure why we are using her again) and so I had to help her through and I poured over the paperwork from Disney she received and both were indeed there and the double discounted price is what we paid.
So I am keeping my fingers crossed!
Congrats to all of those who have saved some $$$$!!!

I must have the worst luck...I keep trying and so far, I can't get the code to work. I keep seeing you guys get all these great deals :thumbsup2 for POP the same week as me and I'm just a step behind you since I can't it to work!! Persistance pays off...right?!!!:confused3

Don't give up, be persistent. That's what I did. Yesterday Coronado Springs came open for a few hours and I changed to it from POP for only $31 more on my package. They may have more come available soon, maybe in another resort. The CM told me either there were cancellations (there must have been many) or they opened more rooms with the code (which is more likely b/c of the amount of rooms that were available with the code). So keep looking every day and call right away. What I did was every morning I went to the "Specials" page on Disney and started with the "Fall Getaway" quote with my dates, even though they are not listed on the dates, and then went to the different resorts to check availability. And viola! Coronado came up at only $31 more than my POP ressie. So keep checking. :goodvibes Good luck!

Thanks for the vote of confidence! WOW...you made out great for CS!!! They quoted me for that too and it was going to cost me $300 more to stay there and I'm really hoping to save money other than spend more...plus we're a grand gathering so we need to stay at Pop with our friends, since we planned this together, you know? As much as going up to a moderate resort would be worth it!!! :yay: I will keep trying.....7 a.m tomorrow isn't too far off, right?!:goodvibes Thanks again and have a wonderful trip, let's hope for GREAT weather the week we're going!!!!!:flower3:

:goodvibes Ok, first time visiting this thread. I have called a few times to check the DGL and QXG codes. And no luck at all!
My dates are Dec 6th-12th. I am at Pop currently in a non preferred room. I do like what I have, and Im not complaining, but I want the biggest bang for my buck kwim? I believe My total was 1200 incl base ticktets (not incl the ddp which we are interested in).
ALright, question... how do you get the upgrades to a preferred room, or how did those who upgraded from Value resort to Moderate do so??? What do I ask? WHat is the process and trying to do this?

Thanks guys!!:worship:

As I'm suffering chronic insomnia right now, I started contemplating how many hours I've invested in the "staying persistent" vs. how much my time is worth per hour....its amazing how much $$ i have spent in time [not to mention all the long distance calls on my nickel to try to save a couple of bucks.

I know what you mean. lol But I get such satisfaction knowing I saved money we have vs what we never had to begin with. Also, being a stay at home mom, I figure it's dh job to bring in the money, then it's my job to try to save the money any which way I can. Or at least, I try.:)
