December 2008 Code Watch

Oh, I forgot to ask another question, is it worth always checking disney resorts website all the time? I know that the res agents see what I see on the website. Or so Im told.

TIA:surfweb:

I always check the Web site prior to calling. I was told the same thing from a CM last year, that they see what we see.
Plus, logging on and checking for yourself is much easier and quicker than going through that automated system.

A silly question... does the system put a "hold" on room availability while you're looking at it online?

I've worked with one system that did this - I was renting a condo, and I'd find what I wanted online, but I needed to do the actual booking over the phone, and when I called, the operator said I had to get out of the reservation online because it was being held for me.

So I wonder if, for example, you pull up 5 nights at POR, if those 5 nights are not available to CMs because they're being held for you until you accept or reject them.

That's a good question. I've booked right away before as soon as an available reservation popped up and I've also done the same after a few minutes of it being on my screen. But I've also called to switch resorts while seeing the better deal right in front of my face, so who knows how they do it?
Really, if given the choice, I much rather book online than through a CM at CRO. That way if there are any mess-ups, it's on my shoulders. I'm always scared they have the wrong dates or give me the wrong confirmation number (I guess I'm a control freak like that!). I've had that happen before with an ADR, the CM booked the wrong day, but thankfully, Boma was very nice about accepting us anyway (on an extremely crowded night at that).
Of course, I do call as soon as AP rates are released because it takes a while for them to make it to the Web site.

First off, you're welcome Princess!

:goodvibes Ok, first time visiting this thread. I have called a few times to check the DGL and QXG codes. And no luck at all!
My dates are Dec 6th-12th. I am at Pop currently in a non preferred room. I do like what I have, and Im not complaining, but I want the biggest bang for my buck kwim? I believe My total was 1200 incl base ticktets (not incl the ddp which we are interested in).
ALright, question... how do you get the upgrades to a preferred room, or how did those who upgraded from Value resort to Moderate do so??? What do I ask? WHat is the process and trying to do this?

We'll be in WDW at the same time. :) Don't give up, be persistent. I check the Disney "Specials" page multiple times daily b/c you never know what may change. And Sunday it did. I finally got to use the code for Coronado and only $31 more than my POP package. You never know when they open a "block" of rooms at the discount rate. Example: Right now if you go to the specials page and try moderates with the code, nothing shows with availability. But when you go to regular rate quotes, Coronado comes up as available. It did that all last week until they finally opened a block. So yes, persistence does pay off. So keep looking every day and call right away. If one shows available with the code, just call and say you would like to see if ".....resort" is available with the "QXG", or whichever, codesis avaialable during my stay. Good luck!:goodvibes

That is awesome!!! Thank so much! I get so addicted to making this a stress free (as much as possible) trip. This is our first BIG trip together between DH and I, and as a family. We have done some great road trips, but nothing like this. We are SO excited!!
I would LOVE Coronodo!!! That would be my absolute first choice!!! It looks gorgeous!

If I can get as great of a deal as you I will be giving you some hugs!!!! ;) THANKS!!!!

I can't wait to see Coronado in person. It does look beautiful! I still look every day just to see if there is something else out there, more bang for our buck, and if I do run across another opening online I'll post it on the main "codes and rates" page and here, so keep an eye out, I will be! Then I will expect those hugs, lol!

I stayed at Coronado for the first time last year. It was great...really, really loved the food court. Fabulous choices, made fresh, and it was a ton of food. I was able to share with my DD.

Awesome! I will (and am)keep an eye out. Could you imagine if we both got deluxe? HAHAHA that would be awesome. Same dates, same resort. I would have to meet up with ya for sure! GIve ya that hug! lol I was checking out the different sites for the different moderate resorts. I think Carribean is my 2nd choice (albeit they are all nice and Im not THAT picky) I just love Mayan history...so the Coronado really would make me happy. DH and I never had a honeymoon, so if we could get out of Value, it would be more honeymoonish.
Ok, back to the codes, is QXG the only one I can try for? I don't have CAA or anything else for that matter.

I know it will not happen, but Im going to dream about free dining for December. It would be so awesome. (I know it won't happen, but again, I will dream!):cloud9:

My cousin stayed there last year and loved it, too. They actually stay there every time they go. Were they beds comfy? I hope so! (I nevere asked her that) We stayed at Saratoga last year and although the bed was OK, we actually were more comfy at a hotel we stayed at on our way there. I guess no need to worry, I'll be zonked out on something.... Ambien, Lunesta, Restoril, or whatever I get my hands on.

Then if you love Mayan history that much, we WILL get you in Coronado! Here is a little Pixie Dust coming your way! pixiedust: It would be great to spend your "honeymoon" there. That would be cool if we ended up there together! Hmmm, I'd probably take our kids to the pool for an hour so you can......:scratchin
Free dining would be awesome! Although we have it added to our package now, we will probably cancel it before we go. It was way too much food for us! I hated wasting it, and we did waste a lot.
QXG is the one I used, but I also tried DGL.

Thanks for the pixiedust: Yes, that is the main reason I love that resort...but since we are on a budget we have to keep it as cheap as possible.

Absolutely, we could meet up with the kids!! How old are yours? Mine are (well..will be very close to) 3 and 4.
I was 7 months pregnant when we got married, so... ya know.. a honeymoon with a lot of sleepin going on. lol LITERALLY. We just went away for one night...wasn't far at all, and I wanted to come home at 3am. lol

Yes, I have the DGL listed as well just in case. :)

Good stuff, Oh, meant to tell you. I did call the res desk today. I asked if I was more likely to get a dicount or deal if I call first thing in the morning. He sort of sounded like he was grabbing for the right words...which I could be totally wrong, but as if he wanted to say yes, but of course couldn't. He mainly just said that their systems are always updating and changing. So I asked him what time they opened the lines...which he said 7am Eastern. Im atlantic..so that is 8am. Works out great time wise for me! He said try back in a few days to see. So I gathered mornings are best, but I could be completely wrong.

Im not going to want to leave my computer at all this weekend!!! Need to always be checking...always...checking....:scared: :scared:

Totally didn't read that the proper way before. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I thought you said we would meet down at the pool...not you taking the kids. Oh my... I can't believe I stopped colouring my hair blond!

I check the Disney "Specials" page multiple times daily b/c you never know what may change.

Where is the Disney "Specials" page located? Is it on the DIS? Can you provide a link?

Thanks!

I always knew it was there, but it's sometimes tricky to find. :) Now, what I have learned... even though it will show nothing available..doesn't mean that everything is sold out. Just means anything that was available for this savings code, is sold out. I was thinking everything was booked up and dh was scared that it was going to be crazy busy while we were there. If you look at the normal resort packages, there are still availabilities around. :) Hope that made sense.

Thak Honeystar!

Well, I went ahead and changed from POP to CSR. I HAD to! I fell in love with it after going through the threads. I wasn't able to use a code, but I a still completely devoted in finding one that I hope I can use. Regardless, worse case scenario I pay the difference. Which we can manage, I just hate to pay if I don't have to. COME ON CODES!!!:goodvibes

I SOOOO CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Hey, I'm a blonde! :rotfl: :lmao: We could meet up and relax at the pool. My DD is turning 14. She loves younger kids, she says it keeps her young! ;) Good luck calling today and getting a discount. After a discount last year I said there was no way I'd pay rack. So I booked just in case.

Oh Yeah!!! :cheer2: I just saw you booked! That just means you have the room for when you can use the code! Smart lady!
Well I am off to work today, and have to work a double. Need coffee, and fast!

I used the code and since we can save $2,000 over going in June. We are going Nov. 21-29th. I priced the rack rates for the same time and they were $3,459 with the code we are paying $2,487. Yes that's right, we are saving $972!!!!! I should mention this is for 2 rooms at AS Sports. (Can't type any acronym for this resort without laughing!) We are a family of 6, so I think we are getting one great deal!! Good luck to everyone else. Oh and we booked Monday 25th. At that time ASMu was also avaliable. No POP or ASMo though.

Have a Magical Day!!

Don't give up on those codes for CSR. The code didn't work for me the first 2days I tried to use it then it opened up. Just check the actual disneyworld site any chance you get and go to tickets and reservations then the specials page and get started. Every once in awhile you will see CSR pop up with an opening and make sure you get it.
