December 2008 Code Watch

Touringplans.com is reporting that the code will come out 8/14 and they expect it to go to Disney Visa holders first

Like Marvin Gaye, we heard this through the grapevine:

General public WDW discount coming Aug 14. Travel 9/24 - 12/23. Must buy room and tickets, and it's a discount on the room.

While that's the sum total of what we know, we expect a Disney Visa cardholder discount to come out a couple of days before that. The usual disclaimers apply.

How do you get a Disney Visa code? I have had the Disney Visa for a number of years, and never have gotten any type of code. How do you get it? am sooo desperate for a code right now!! Is it something they send, or something that is general info, like have Disney Visa, you use such and such code?

I have a newb question...

I have a DV so I am keeping an eye out for the discount. Right now I have a AAA discount. How do I go about figuring which one would be the best deal for me?? :confused3

In the past, I have called Disney and "booked" the same package I already have with AAA and see which one is cheaper and keep it. Since your AAA ressie is not in the Disney CRO system, you can do this without any problem, just dont' tell them you already have a ressie, or some CM's won't check it.

quick question- if they say the code will be released aug 14- does that mean we can book that day asking for the code, or will be now the day b4 what the code is so we can call and book on the 14th- does that make any sense, thanks

Sometimes the AAA discount is better than the code. But the AAA discounts end on Dec 18. It would be nice to have a code that ends Dec 21 or 23 (like last year.) We're leaving town for summer vacation on Aug 15 and we're computerless, so I hope the general or ap code comes out before that week!

I just looked at the DV site and the code they have is still for Aug/Sept/Oct, but it ends on 8/10, so start looking a few days after that.

What is the url for the DV site to check for the code?

Looking forward to Monday with anticipation of the code being released. We are already booked for 11/28 - 12/5. This will be my parents first trip and our 3rd.

We ended up biting the bullet and changing our resort plans today. We did a major upgrade to our trip today. Quite frankly, I was floored to find a AAA discount available for 2 rooms at the CR in December, but I was able to take advantage of it and I was even told there were two more AAA discounts left that would apply during our dates.

The point of this though is that I changed one of our deposits from another cc to the Disney Visa cc, so that if the Disney Visa Code comes out and is something that would save us more money. She acted like it's a package code and coming soon, so keep your eyes open!

It is www.DisneyRewards.com and click on the News and Offers button. On that screen click on view all in the box on the right had side and it will drop down and the heading reads "Lots of options to save"

Am I correct to assume that the possible discount will only apply to certain hotels? We already have a room reserved at the Animal Kingdom Lodge...we're not likely to get a discount there will we?

You never know-- it is worth checking... and if you are willing to change if they don't have it there you might save quite a bit!

Historically it has come out on the 2nd Monday of August... meaning this coming Monday it should be out!!!!!!!!

Ok this is our first time going to Disney and I have a question. We are going 20-27th of Dec. We have a Disney Visa so if this code comes out would we be able to apply a discount for 20-23? Or since we go past the dates would we not be able to use it at all? Just wondering if it will be even worth the stress.

TIA

I think it is worth the call... the worst they can say is it won't work... and you are out a few minutes on the call...

I ahve heard of people getting the discount on the days they are able and the days not on the code being at rack rate... I have never heard of it working if you arrive before... unless you do a split stay... if you are doing the ddp it won't work, but if you don't you could do 20-23 with the discount and get tickets to cover the entire stay (6days) andthen do a room only for 24-27.... just a thought. Historically the discount has been right around 40%-- I think that is worth it!

So if I am on the DDP it won't work? WHy is that? Oh well I guess it just was not meant to be!

you should be fine.

The problem is when you arrive BEFORE the code starts. When you stay after, you will pay full price for those days, but it will still be one reservation. I find it odd that the system can do it correctly this way, but not when you come early, but then again I know very little about computer programming :goodvibes

Just got a Visa Card e-mail, For 1,700*
based on a family of four
in a standard room for stays most nights
1/1/09-2/12/09, 4/19/09-5/21/09, and 8/9/09-12/17/09.

That's only $61
per person per day!

So I would think the discounts will come out soon. I had a hard time finding space at the Value hotels for 11/28- 12/7. Music was the only hotel
laventers is online now Report Post Edit/Delete Message

Sorry it was a personal code

I have not read this whole thread, so I don't know if this was already mentioned, but apparently, Disney Visa members have recieved a package discount code just recently for package discounts Sept. to Dec. 23rd, 2008 and I heard unofficially that the general public would get a code a few days later (possibly August 14th). The code cannot be used at all resorts. You cannot use it for some of the deluxe resorts like the Poly. Of course, this is not official yet so we'll have to wait and see. I don't know which other resorts are excluded. I think the moderates and values would be fine and most deluxe.
