December 2008 Code Watch

Hi all! Should I come here or somewhere else in the morning----if I feel like getting up LOL!??

I was wondering this too. Do they send an email or should I come here or should I go to the site that PrincessSuzanne posted earlier?? Sorry for the newb questions. I just want to see if there is a code better than the AAA discount I have. Save money on the room = more money to spend in the parks. :woohoo:

When would we get an email from DV? Shouldnt it come out before the codes are available?

Last year, I got an email from DV about 4-5 days before general announcement went out.

Does anyone remember if they offered a room only discount last year for Dec? I bought tickets thru Undercover Tourist before the price increase, not really thinking about the (hopeful) discount from DV. I can't remember if they only offered package discounts last year or also room only.

Assuming discounted AP rates are available and we decide to upgrade from a mod to a deluxe, would that change in any way effect our ADRs that have already been made (meaning we wouldn't lose them and have to make new ones if we switch resorts)?

I have not read this whole thread, so I don't know if this was already mentioned, but apparently, Disney Visa members have recieved a package discount code just recently for package discounts Sept. to Dec. 23rd, 2008 and I heard unofficially that the general public would get a code a few days later (possibly August 14th). The code cannot be used at all resorts. You cannot use it for some of the deluxe resorts like the Poly. Of course, this is not official yet so we'll have to wait and see. I don't know which other resorts are excluded. I think the moderates and values would be fine and most deluxe.

We got that code last week. We were going to have to switch from POR to CSR and it was only going to save us $135 for the entire week so I didn't bother.:surfweb:

It won't affect your ADRs

I'm still wondering why only some Disney Visa Card holders got the last codes.....I would have thought if the code was going out in batches, as has been suggested, that the code would have made it to the rest of us....:confused3

Hopefully the morning brings happy news.

Well it was more like a pin, not really a code. I guess they just sent it to random members like they do all the regular pins. It was a nice surprise for us though, we've never received a pin before. It came as an email from Disney Destinations and ours made no mention of our DV so I didn't even know it was generated by that until I came on here but it's the same offer everyone else had gotten.

I just got back from my first day of fitness book camp:banana: :cool1: and I'm sitting here waiting for the code. Does anyone know or found anything?

The Visa Code thread is reporting a call being made and no codes today...however, the post time is before 7 EDT, so I'm not sure how they got the answer [not doubting the truth of post, simply observing, and letting others draw their own conclusions]

Now theres been like 3 calls and they're all being told the same thing. Well geez, wonder if I should go back to bed?:confused3

FYI to the fellow AAA member, I called to do this and they said if I wanted the AAA discount that I need to go through AAA to book the reservation. It probably depends on the WDW agent. However, I did talk to the AAA travel agent and they were only $100 less than the WDWTA! I just stuck with WDW reservations in hopes that I can call back periodically and check for any specials offered for my week. :rolleyes1

I am not sure about that.. I always got the AAA discount by calling Disney directly...

Like the previous poster they told me I have to call AAA they said there computer system will not do it that way. You're lucky they did it but then again maybe they just said that I would call AAA to find out for sure.:)

My clock says 7:13 here (EST) and I'm sure my DIS time will be well before that. I've found that it's usually about 15-20 minutes sooner than the actual time.

ETA: My "DIS" time from posting this was 7:05 so the DIS is speeding up a little bit! :goodvibes

so is the only code a AAA code? Or is the a Disney Visa code? I have checked my email...nothing for me.:confused3

FYI....

Just got off the phone with MS and "AP, room only" discounts are not today . Was told to try next week.

Thank you for the info. I was also told that the codes were not in to-day... but, I will not wait until next week to call back ! I guess they are trying to get rid of us !! :rolleyes1

The post you are talking about might be mine. I called a little after 7:00am to ask about Disney Visa codes and when I posted my response the time stamp was 6:56am.

So obviously the DIS clock is off.

ETA: The time stamp on this post is 7:45am when the time was actually 7:53am.

I don't know about anyone else but these codes are pretty crazy. Why dont they just put so many rooms and when that is done it is done. I was lucky to get a code, can only use it for one day but that I guess is better then nothing, paid for the dining plan and a littleleft over that I save.
Between making ADRs to get seated for a dinner and thinking about the codes this is one vacation that isnt so relaxing just preparing for it. :)
