December 2005 Info, Code, Dining, & Special Package Watch! :)

My DH, DD 6, and I are going Nov 27 - Dec 4 for our first Disney Christmas!!! We've got AAA rate for 3 nights POFQ, 2 nights AKL, and finishing up with 2 nights GF. Free dining would be great!!!! Saving money for Christmas AND WDW is going to make things a little tight, but worth it.

Thanks for the links to the historical AP rates - you guys are awesome!! I knew I came to the right place.

Hello Trip Mates, I really, really want to do either an illuminations or wishes cruise for our trip. If anyone books one (I know long time away and over planning) for Dec 11-16 (not 13th b/c mvmcp) I would love to join you since there are only 3 of us, my dd will be 5 then and would love to meet a new friend her age. Also in reverse if I am lucky enough to book one we would also be willing to split the cost with another family. Thanks!

If you guys haven't already, check out the topic by lollipop mom titled Fall/winter AP news. Lots of changes for this next batch of rates.

Below is a link to a thread about illuminations cruises. According to the title of it, you might be able to find a family to share a cruise with on it as well as trying on this post.

My husband and I took ourselves and our parents on an illumination cruise after our wedding ceremony six years ago. We LOVED it.

Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up - just sent an email to our TA.

Budbeerlady - hope you get a chance to do the Illum Cruise. We did one last year and it was fabulous!

We are going Dec 2-10th. It will be me, best friend, 3 kids, her daughter and her boyfriend (for a total of 7). We have the AAA MYW Dining package booked (which saved around $400) with 7 day park hoppers plus options (we went with the no expiraton) and are staying at the Pop Century. We are also taking the kids to CRT for the first time....

Thankfully, my TA said if a code comes out I can apply it to my current reservation. We are doing LTT & MVMCP on 12/8 (my birthday) and this will be the kids first time ever at disney when it is decorated for Christmas.. Can't wait until they see it....

Counting the days!!!!!! :cloud9:

You may want to double check with your travel agent, she may be misinformed because you can't apply code discounts to packages.

We were also told (and confirmed on this board recently) that if a code came out it could be applied to an existing package..... does anyone know which of these is correct? :confused3

You can't apply a room code to a package - you can apply a package code to a package. As long as there is availability for your resort and dates. At least I think that's how it works!

Well, all the hoopla with the whole passholder program thing and wondering what this will mean for the future just makes me glad we jumped on the group rate! Especially since the fine print in the passholder program says that they won't be matching group rates. That makes me think that maybe our rate may end up being better after all. Now I don't have to wait and wonder. :) The group rates we have are the same as the recent release of value AP rates anyway (POR for $89 and Poly for $234).

It seems like there should be a simpler way to handle all of this discount stuff!

As it stands now, that is absolutely correct. If a package code is released, AND if there is availability for your dates, then you can call and apply it. The caveat is that if this code is released less than 45 days out, then they can charge a $50 change fee for applying the code (most of the time the code would be good enough that it's worth taking the $50 hit anyway).

They could potentially release a "good only for new reservations" offer but that would be a big change for them (of course this passholder thing is a big change too ). If that were the case, you could book a new ressie and cancel the old one. If it was more than 45 days out you'd get a full refund. if less than 45 days you'd have a cancellation fee.

DH and I will be there 11/29 - 12/06 - 4 nites BWI,standard, 3 nites AKL Savannah with AAA discount room only - $1907. We have 4 day tickets left from past trips and MVMCP tickets for 12/02. We usually eat counter service and food courts. I do want to purchase a CP reservation for Le Cellier.

I've booked for that timeframe w/ AAA...and had been hopeful for an AP discount. Now I'm telling dh I guess we're lucky to have the AAA locked in for that time period. I'm not expecting anything else. No WAY I'm doing the new AP program and booking at Rack rate in the chance my rate will be bettered if something is offered to the general public! I don't want a gen'l public rate....I want an AP rate. I want to secure my AAA rate early (as they are limited and sellout) not take a chance on maybe getting better than rack...maybe getting better than AAA by booking something nonrefundable on their website. just doesn't make sense to me. :confused3 But I DO realize, by not booking there...I probably stand NO chance of getting an AP rate for my stay otherwise. The discounts they do decide to offer will go to that group first....and by the time I get to call in, will they be available??? who knows. Kind of like how it is currently only the amt of discounts available outside that block will be much lower if at all existant. :rotfl2: So....I'm glad it's value season and the rates will be lower in general. I'm also glad this is our 2nd trip this year....we won't be coming back to Disney for a few yrs now.

We don't have AAA, and we aren't getting it. Good advice though :). I really don't like how everyone in the party has to have an AP with this tentative new deal. I've got 6 days left on my Park Hopper, and DH has an AP. I'd like to use my 6 days before buying an AP, KWIM?

:wave2:

How is everyone doing?

I'm keeping an eye on the new AP program, but our best deal would still come from the free dining. I'm still hoping it'll be extended, but if not, we'll probably do the AAA rate and eat counter meals and off the property. We'll still have fun! :flower:
