December 2,2006...Anyone want to join us?

PenskeSth1: You will love the food at Palo! soooo good and don't have to get all fancy a nice blouse & skirt/pants will do...I try to wear something comfortable as they give ya so much good food :)
We were going to reserve Palo for Formal night, but Formal night is one of the first three, and with my luck we'd get Animator's Palate on Formal night, and we don't want to miss that first night show. If it's Parrot Cay we might go to Topsiders instead. I like Parrot Cay but don't mind missing it once.

Then again, I may be thinking too much of this formal thing. We have nice clothes, just no Tuxes and ball gowns. The boys can wear shirts and ties, DD has a dress, I have a dress, and DH has a suit and tie. I think we'll be fine. I don't plan to show up to formal night in a t shirt, so I should just concentrate on the having fun part!!

That would be fine! There'a wide variety of dress on formal night. I've seen very few tux and formal gown combinations on our previous adventures. I pack one suit and a couple of dress shirts and ties (maybe only one tie) and am done with it. Kathy (DW) packs a dress and/or "dressy" combinations of things.

Yup, the "concentrate on the having fun part" is the key! :yay:

I second what Drclaws said...I've seen everything from ball gowns/tux (not too many) and nice shirt/tie and simple dresses on formal night.

At Palo's I have never seen a Tux but I have not been on Formal Night. We have thur. night reserved :goodvibes :groom:

Has anyone seen Santa Claus 3? I think we might wait to see it on the ship :dance3: popcorn::

My DH is not one to dress up because he wears his uniform all the time, I just bought him black pants, dress shirt & a nice tie...I am wearing a black dress with sparkly shoes. Thats about my limit!

On another note....did anyone book with budget & get a good deal? I'm not happy with the pricing we got. If anybody has a code and would like to share I'm here! Thanks!

~Katie

Thought I would pass an idea for formal night shoes for the women. I wore a floor length gown and didn't want to pack heels & hose, so I packed the Isotoner Satin ballet slippers and wore those. Only the tips of my slippers showed under my gown and the slippers came in handy for cabin use also.

I'm not super graceful in heels either, I'm more of a Teva sandal girl.

Katie: I have a code, W810000, that I found on Mousesavers that worked well for me. We have a SUV rented for 38.00 (including taxes) to get us to the port...but we did book this around 8 mths ago. Hope the code helps you out!

We're going with the tuxes for myself and my boys, the "Princess dress" for DD(age 2), and my better half is still undecided! It won't be along the lines of a ball gown though.

We're holding off on Santa Clause 3 until the cruise as well.

Trolleygirl: I wear my Mephisto sandals 365 days a year  The only time I wear sneakers is when we are hiking during cub scout campouts. As for dress shoes; (WHAT ARE THOSE?)

I like the sound of the ballerina slippers.

We are eating at Palo's sunday night. The only thing I remember eating from there on our last cruise was the Souffle (sp?) that was to die for.. Oh and DH got an excellent bottle of red wine. :teeth:

ARE WE THERE YET???

We have Palo reservations on Monday night which I believe is formal night. We are only going semi formal. My dh will wear a suit and my boys are only wearing button down shirts with a blazer and khakis with loafers. They don't have suits and I think this is fine. I am not totally decided what I will wear. I have a formal dress but don't want to be more dressed up than the rest of my family so I may go buy something new. From what I have read on the boards there is a wide range of the way people dress for semi and formal nights. I think momof6 has it right....just have fun :cool1:

We are also going to wait until the trip to see Santa Clause. We have not seen the first two so I will rent them for us before we go.

Princess Daisy: I am going to try that budget code also. I am paying the same price as you for a regular 4 door car.

Luvmykids: Yes, try the code, it is good for anyone (found on Mousesavers as a code anyone can use). We also have the same car type and price for our drive back after the cruise.

My kids are dying to see the Santa Claus three movie now but I really want to wait and see on the ship. Heck, looks like us Dis'ers can take up the first few rolls in theater at one of the showings ;) :happytv:

I keep meaning to say that I adore the photo of your precious Kitties! :cat: :cat: paw:

Ahhh, to have the life of my kitty! She just sun bathed out on the patio all day today...sprawled out without a care in the world (well, except for lunch, of course ;) )

Steph-

ps. Hey, wait a second...I will have that life in 27 more days on the cruise :lmao: except there will be a drink in my paw.

Good Morning all~

DD is wearing a gown ~ DH is going with a Tux ~ and I have a strapless jumpsuit with a coverup. Dbrother is in tux and Dsisterinlaw in a gownish type. The rest of our party is just doing suits and dressier dress.

For Pirate night - DD / DH / Dbrother / Dsisterinlaw and I are the only ones dressing up.

Do we know for sure the SC#3 is playing on the ship? If so I will not attempt to go see it after Tday!

Why, thank you! We caught them in a moment of weakness ( and colder weather) when they decided that snuggling was in order. They get along well, but not always THIS well.

Pepper is the black kitty and is diabetic along with other health issues. Smokey is his younger "sister" and is the actual Head of Household. Pepper will be boarded at our vet during the cruise and Smokey has a pet sitter check in on her daily. I think she only tolerates her because she gets fed.....

Princess Daisy: I tried the code but I still can only get the standard car. Oh well thanks anyway....I guess I waited too long to book our rental car. Instead of the rate going down it went up. After the cruise for Dec 9-12 I am paying $211 for the standard 4 door. I think this is a lot for 4 days but I think it is more because I am picking up in cape canaveral and returning to the orlando airport.

alwayssad: I don't think anyone knows for sure that they are playing the santa clause 3 on the cruise....we are just assuming and hoping.

Princess Daisy: you will be living the life of a kitty in 25 days not 27 party:

Yes, you are right, thank you, Luvmykids! I am getting my dates all goofy!

I read a post from a recent cruiser that Santa claus three is playing now on the ship :thumbsup2

Drclaws: I cracked up when I read about the "weak moment" ;). My cat, Maisy, is the same way...she gets along well with her "brothers" (our doggies) okay but once in a while I catch her snuggling with the puppy. My dd, Nicole, is a huge cat lover and I showed her the photo...she is now in  with your kitties. :teeth:

We also have reservations at Palo for Sunday night. I have a DD13 who has no need for a formal dress except for the cruise. I went on Ebay (I love Ebay) and got a Jessica McClintock black velvet and silver taffeta dress for $5! ($10 when you add the shipping). For those of you renting a car, is the car rental place close to the port (this is my first cruise)? You can return the car and get a ride to the port?

We have a 9:00 p.m Palos ressie for Sunday.

Does anyone know what time we leave Key West on Sunday?

It is sad we have lived in Fl. for years and have never been to Key West. We keep saying that while we are down that far for the Homestead race we are going to continue on down to Key West, but so far we just have not made it.

It is like driving to the ends of the Earth just to get to the race every year, I can't imagine driving to Key West.

Our ressies are also for 9pm on Sunday. I guess there won't be much of a view looking out at the ocean in the dark?
