You know what "I probably would be in my room" ;) I am probably one of the few that makes sure I get my moneys worth out of my room...I love to sit on the verandah and watch the ocean....Although I did promise DH that I would spend more time doing stuff on this cruise... :rolleyes1

miztigg: yep we are on the same level, you just got starboard...You have the nice view at the Port... :woohoo:

Hello everyone! I just booked this crusie today. My husband and I and daughter and son who are both 5. My husband and I have been on the Magic once before and loved it, so we wanted to take the kids. Hopefully they will have a great time. Just took them on their first crusie this past September and the Kids club did not go well with them! I will have to go back and read all the posts!

cougar 242 you will NEVER get our kids out if this club when my son was 5 we went a few times to check on him he wanted no parts of us now hes older we let him sign himself in and out this is our girls 1st cruise im sure they will LOVE  the club

Welcome Cougar242 :sunny: It is gonna be a great cruise! did you so a Sept. special cruise? the two stops at Castaway? that would be so fun :thumbsup2

No, we were not on a Disney cruise. We were on a 5 night Carnival cruise. My husband and I have been on the Magic but that was a few years ago. I am not sure if it was because it was a 5 night cruise or an older ship but they did not want to participate at all in the kid activities. I am hoping that they will have a wonderful time. I am a little nervous though after reading all the people who came back sick her recently. Hopefully that will get the ship all cleaned up for us.

:thumbsup2 did you use a TA? I am using Dreams Unlimited this time around...would be great to get an upgrade :wizard:

We used DU, Kelsie called us the day before but I was not home. She E-mailed me the news the next day...Not only did we get an upgrade but she also got us the Florida residents rate which saved us 889.00 so that is being kicked back to the CC. We "Never" expected this as our cruise has been paid off since March. It was definitely as nice surprise.

I just hope it is NOT NOISY where our room is. We like the Cat 5 rooms on deck 7 because we didn't have any noise issues. The room they upgraded us to is close to being underneath the Mickey pool.

I asked DH if he wanted to stay in the cat where we booked. Of course he said, "NO WAY" take the upgrade.... ;)

Miztigg: on our first cruise DS was only 5 and we couldn't keep him out of the kids club. They have so much fun and the counselors do so much with them.

I have heard that if there are Florida discounts for a particular cruise date, then they offer military discounts for the same price. However, my TA seemed reluctant to look into it. I need to press him for them again. Do they offer florida discounts for every cruise, or just a few? Mousesavers.com shows discounts, but I haven't seen our cruise mentioned yet. I will definitely look into this tomorrow. Wouldn't it be great to get a discount???

I am so glad that I have found this board. There is so much wonderful information. We had book a Costa cruise but I decided to call Disney to see if they had any interline rates available, so I was able to get this cruise for less than the Costa with a balcony and also included prepaying my gratuities!! I was shocked. So of course I had to switch. Every since going on the Magic I have compared everyother cruise to this trip and it just would not compare!

Little update. The military travel agent said there ARE military discounts for this cruise!! I think if it worked out we'd save about $800. Let's see what the TA that I booked with says. . . He did email me back and say he'd look into it, but nothing since.

I am not sure how the Fl Res. rate works for the cruise. I know that at the resorts there are so many alloted and if they are all used up at whatever resort you can't get the discount. I know that our TA told me that they were "New Fl. Res. Rates". I am assuming that they were just released...

This is the first time we got a Fl res. rate on a cruise. We DO use the Fl. Res. rate at Disney resorts all the time though.

Good Luck on getting your discount!! It sure does help to save that extra money.... pixiedust:

:woohoo:  :OMG!!!!! :

I called DCL to check if they had military rates. They did, but wouldn't give me a specific quote since I had a TA. I called the TA, but his answering machine said he'd be away indefinitely. Perfect opportunity to speak to a manager instead! She was more than willing to look into it. She ended up speaking with the same DCL CM who I had spoken to minutes before (who was very nice, said that if she had her way she'd give us the cruise for free for being military ;) )

Long story short, we kept our same rooms and got a $1300 discount!!!!!!! Now I don't have to worry about saving for tips anymore, and our Disney tip jar can now be our new van savings jar! We could have upgraded up to a verandah with that kind of savings, or within a few $100's, but we'd lose a connecting room, and now we're right across the hall from my parents (which will come in handy when we want someone to babysit at night! :thumbsup2 )

So now we're all doing the happy dance here in NC
:cool1: :cool1:   :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :woohoo: :woohoo: :yay: :yay: :dance3: :santa: :santa:

pixiedust: pixiedust: Pixie dust was sure spread today!! pixiedust: pixiedust:

Hmmm, I read about RCL & Carnival giving a Veteran w/honorable discharge discount...my hubby served for 4 years which 2 where during war and has honorable discharge papers. I wonder if we might be able to get discount?

Momof6: did you get to keep your onboard booking discount and credit? :thumbsup2

Thanks!
Steph

Princessdaisy, I would not rely on a TA to answer that question. I would ask DCL directly if your DH qualifies and then ask if discounts are still available on our cruise for your category. Then, if you booked with a TA, call him back and say you want the discount applied.

And so far we keep our onboard credit. The TA sent an updated confirmation form, showing the discount, and it still had the shipboard credit. I'm not holding my breath, though, and i won't mind if it disappears (well, I'll mind a little bit), because it will still be a substantial discount.
