December 2,2006...Anyone want to join us?

UGH!! Did I mention it was my birthday yesterday? We were supposed to have lunch out together, DH and I (the family gave me cards and a cake Sunday when everyone was home, and the present is deferred for THE CRUISE!!). Well, DH called to say "I finished seeing all my patients, so where would you like to go for lunch?" I had to say "Meet me at the emergency room, because I'm on my way to school to pick up Jacob--he fell of the monkey bars". Turns out he broke his arm!! He has a long arm cast that will be on for 4 weeks, and then a short cast for 4 weeks.

. . .

Did you all do the math as fast as I did? Because we all know what is on our minds at this time of the year. . .He will have the cast on for the cruise!!!! NOOOOOOO!!! I'm praying that he heals fast, then has the short cast on for a week or two, then they allow him to get a half cast for a week, so he can at least get wet once a day or so. It's no use even asking the doc yet, but if he heals well by 4 weeks from now I'll suggest it.

Strange thing is that he's the only one to have had a cast, and the last time was his other arm, from the jungle gym again, and it was right before our week at the beach!!

Kids are pretty fast healers and hopefully he will have the shorter cast come cruise time. :thumbsup2

Those monkey bars are trouble...I was always falling off them at school when I was a kid. I don't see them in the schools around here anymore. There are only the plastic type climbing structure/slides...maybe too many kids were falling and being California, the lawyers are all to happy to "help out" :rotfl:

Oh No!!! Well I'll pray he's a super fast healer! And, uh, Happy Birthday! Just how a mom wants to celebrate, huh. At least it was nothing more serious.

im sorry to hear about that :sad2: my nephew fell of the monkey bars at my sisters reception kids heal fast he will be in a half cast by then good luck ill be thinkin of you!!

Too funny! I hope he heals as fast as my son. My daughter had surgery on her wrist the last week of July and was in a long cast for 7 weeks. During that time, my son fell off his bike and broke his arm so he too was in a long cast. (We looked like we beat our kids and got a lot of stares so needless to say, we didn't go out too much!) He fractured his growth plate in his elbow and splintered his wrist. He was out of the cast in 4 weeks. My daughter on the other hand, had another 4 weeks in a short cast and is still in a brace and doing physical therapy. There is a big age difference - she is 12 and he is 5 and she has no pain tolerance, where he could have cut his arm off and still been outside playing!!

As another note about casts, I found a wonderful cast cover at Walgreens that covers the cast and keeps it dry during baths and if not in the pool for a long time, keeps it dry while swimming. I had to ask for it in the Pharmacy.

I booked by shore excursions and have confirmation numbers, but it wasn't on my credit card bill yet - Not that I am complaining, but I want to make sure I have the excurisions actually booked. Do they bill us closer to the cruise or after when take the excursion?

momof6innc: Happy belated Birthday!!

Here is some Pixie dust on hoping DS heals quickly. pixiedust:

Omigosh!!!! We are sooo excited that it is getting closer! :bounce: My ds (6) and I looked over the navigators posted on the other board and he has picked out tons of things he wants to do. He is so excited :yay: that it is making me and my husband even more excited. I cannot wait to get on that ship! :Pinkbounc

momof6innc - :wizard: Here is wishing your son a super speedy recovery. If he is still in a cast when we leave, I would bet he will getting around like he didn't even have one on!

Happy Belated Birthday! :bday: :flower3:

momof6: sorry to hear about your son. I hope he heals quickly. Happy belated birthday.

We are getting very excited here!!! We are leaving in 38 more days!!

Luvmykids: We are also leaving in 38 more days :cool1: so does everyone have plans all ironed out? We leave San Diego on Dec. 1st and will be staying at the Hyatt in the airport. We plan to drive our rental to PC next day and get into cruise terminal by 11ish.

We will also be staying at AKL at Disney World afterward then BCV a few days more :wizard:

Now to start the packing :guilty:

Oh, and my daugher "lost" her two swimsuits :sad2: You would think that living in California where it is almost perfect weather that we would be able to find a new suit but no! they have been replaced by winter coats ( :rolleyes1 It is never below 68 degrees here and yep, us San Diegans think that is freezing :rotfl2:

Jake's doing fine, handling the cast pretty well. He sure likes his signatures! He will switch to a short cast before the cruise. We got a cast cover the last time he broke his other arm right before our week at the beach, but it got a leak in it! But we'll try it again; can't happen twice, right?

Thanks for the birthday wishes!!

Hi everyone!

Princess Daisy we are also flying out on December 1st. We are staying at the Residence Inn in Cape Canaveral. We are also driving our rental to the port on Saturday morning. I have been thinking about what to pack but the thought of packing for 11 days is stressing me out!! Oh well, at least it is good stress.

momof6: Glad Jake is adjusting to his cast. Great news on your discount!

37 more days! :cool1:  :cool1:

Hi everyone! Sorry to be so late to crash in on your party here! We booked this cruise 16 months ago, but just now stumbled on to this thread! We are SOOOO looking forward to this trip!!!

welcome hmansure :sunny: welcome aboard nice to have someone else from nj here :cheer2:

Welcome Hmansure... :sunny:

PrincessDaisy: If you can't find a bathing suit for DD at home, I am almost positive you can find one somewhere in Kissimmee... I don't understand why they take all the summer clothing off the shelves in places where it is usually warm even in the winter... They could have a little of both if you ask me.

I have to buy a swimsuit, but we are stopping in kissimmee on our way to the port on the 1st. I figure one of those tourist trap shops has got to have a bathing suit. :teeth:

It got down to 41 here yesterday and the day before, I like it when it cools down! (But not quit that cool) ;)
