We just found this board, so I'm officially announcing that our cruise is booked! We sailed with the Wonder during this week in 04, and we loved it then so we decided to rebook for the same timeframe. It will be fun to chat as we get ready for the cruise and maybe meet!
A bit about us: I have been a Disney fan since childhood, multiple trips to Anaheim (my family's first big cross country vacation),
Disneyland Paris (visited 12 days after opening, then lots more times while stationed in Germany with the Army for 7 years both single and married with kids), and now Orlando many times. Our first
Disney cruise was on the Wonder, as I mentioned above. Our only DD was diagnosed with leukemia in April 04, and since we lived in Newport, RI at the time we were used to seeing lots of cruise ships sail in. After hearing about her friend talk about his Make a Wish Disney cruise, she said she wanted to do that with her family (what a kid!). My parents booked a cabin on the same cruise, so we didn't have to send the baby to Flounder's reef at all. We all had a ball. DD was treated like a star, and us as well. There was a Make a Wish coordinator; he gave her presents in her room every day, and the 7 make a wish families were the only ones who got a private visit with Captain Mickey that cruise.
Fast forward to last month, December 05. We were bitten by the cruise bug and starting a savings fund for our next undated cruise. Then I thought, DD will get her "all clear/cured" status in October 06, with a few more things to do in November. Why not start to make definite plans for a real celebration? Some families in the clinic had huge catered and DJ'd parties to celebrate the end of chemo/treatment, but we thought another cruise would be more appropriate for us (he-he, anything to go on the ship again!

). So I started pricing out, and we paid for our cruise earlier this month.

As a bonus, my dad booked the cabin across the hall for he, my mom and sister so we will have built-in babysitters for the new baby!
We have 6 kids: 11, 10, 8, 6, 3, and 13 months at the time of the cruise (yes, that's the 3 month old you should be able to hear in the background, he's that loud!). We can't wait! (OK, baby's fine now). I have the passporter's cruise book from the last cruise, so now I get to look up all of the fun extra stuff on the Magic. We have two adjoining cabins, and we plan to go to Palo once just with DH and I and another time with the parents, and then the adult ladies of the group hopefully can go to high tea. The kids are looking forward to returning to the kids clubs. The older boys are saving their money for the arcade cards.
I guess what I'll want to know, for those who have been on the Western cruise, what are the most fun/worth it shore excursions? Because of the cost of the trip already, our budget is tight for excursions. We plan on having each person go on one if they want, and we'd split up (Dad goes with the older boys if it's physically challenging, let's say, and I'd go on the easier ones). If we don't pick a shore excursion, are there beaches to go to on the various islands without too much trouble? We stopped at Nassau last year, but we only walked around for an hour or so before returning to the ship. We might have been more adventurous if the day at sea had been first. We were so in love with the ship we didn't want to get off that first day!
I look forward to chatting over the next few months before meeting!
