Thank you, Stinasmom. That is what I'm hoping, but just in case I was planning on being more in the back and on the side in case I need to escape. I just took my daughter to see Disney on Ice last weekend and she loved it. It was so cute because as we were leaving to go to the show, she told me to wait because she needed to get a few things! She came running back with her arms filled with clothes! I asked what she had, and she told me, "My Ariel swimsuit for the Mickey pool and the beach, my Ariel towel, my princess jacket if it gets cold, and my Mickey sunglasses." I asked her what they were for, and she told me "For the Disney Cruise Ship"! She's only 3 1/2, but boy kids can sure surprise you sometimes. Right now everything is called DisneyWorld Cruiseship. So, I told her that we were going on Disney World Cruiseship on Ice hoping she would understand, guess not...!

Just got an email with this info from mousesavers:

Cruise passengers visiting Castaway Cay beginning November 24 will find the island transformed into a Magical Wonderland, where the sandy Bahamian isle becomes a “snowy” holiday hideaway. “Snow” flurries will fall like magic, Christmas trees will glow and carolers will croon. Mr. and Mrs. Snowman, wearing shell noses and tropical attire, will greet guests with a sleigh full of presents. The tram that transports guests across the 1,000-acre island will be reindeer themed, complete with antlers and tail. At the beach, families can learn the art of sand sculpting, and kids can dive into holiday-themed activities that include making candy cane reindeer, paper plate angels and snowflake-mobiles.

Hey Temmy, I know what you mean about being busy. Seems like we never have enough hours in the day for everything that needs to get done. Sorry I can't help with the cheap excursions. I think we are just going to shop and look around. I really wanted to tour Atlantis but haven't been able to talk the DH into it yet.

Hola Everyone!

I have a question for those who have been on a Disney cruise before. I have the Passporters Book, and they describe dining dresswear to be casual in the main dining. Men must wear a coat and tie for Palos, as well as women wear a nice outfit. So, how casual is casual. I want to dress up for all the dinners, but I also don't want to be overly dressed up. I know it's better to be overdressed than under. Is casual considered a nice eveing dress for women and nice slacks and a nice Tommy Bahama or Nat Nast shirt for men. The kind without the embroidery and hawaiian style flowers! (-: What has been your experience?

Hola Deserie,

For the most part, dress is casual for the meals with the exception of Palo and Triton's. Parrot Cay has a beach theme to it, so wear your hawaiian shirt. Animator's Palate is black/white to color theme, so we dress colorful. But we usually dress up for Triton's. That's the fancy style eatery.

Now I've never seen them ask anyone to leave for wearing jeans and tshirt to tritons, but they would in Palo's. You will see all kinds of attire. We've seen guys in the military in their dress blues and I've seen those with scottish ancestory in their kilts. (No we didn't check to see if the rumor is true )

Again, that depends on your seating too. Early seating will come casual, however, late seating has more people dressed up.

Just remember, they always take pictures before the meals and if you're like my DW, then we always have to dress up for those pictures she makes me buy.

Now remember dress is option with room service...

Thanks for the information on the beach, that will come in handy. I have another quick question though. Are men required to wear a coat and tie to the brunch at Palo? I would think since it is brunch, it would be a little less casual.
Anybody know this one?

Never mind, I found the answer: No jacket required.

That was helpful information. So, Triton's= dress up, Parrot Cay=tropical attire, Animator's= something nice. Does everyone dress up for Pirate night? Or, do they change after dinner for the evening show around the pool? Do they still do fireworks? I read that somewhere about the fireworks.
Also, I'm sooooo not techy or familiar with the threads, but what does DW, DH, DS, DD mean? Does it stand for darling wife? Just curious about the lingo.

It took me a while to figure it out.
D = Dear or Darling or Disney
S and D are for the kids. Usually there is a number after, meaning the age of the kids.
In my case, DD11 and DD4.
So if someone else has a DD11 we may try to hook them up before the cruise.
I've even seen DMIL and DFIL (in-laws). Wouldn't want MIL and FIL with me on the cruise.
I still have problems with some of the Disney Resorts. POP?

Dress up is part of the adventure and glamore of the cruise.

Does everyone dress up for Pirate night? I would guess about 30% dress up. Most are new families and don't know you can dress up or don't want too. They give you a bandana to wear to join in. We dress up the part. My family has costumes for the event.

Do they still do fireworks? I believe so. I read somewhere that they're the only cruise line to do this.

Also, I'm sooooo not techy or familiar with the threads, but what does DW, DH, DS, DD mean? Does it stand for darling wife? DW - dear wife (or if you're in a bad mood with her, you can change that around to mean something else ) DH- Dynamic Husband hehehe DS- dear son, DD- dear daughter

I've been told that the D = Disney, (DisneySon, DisneyDaughter, etc.) But, like the others have said, you can use the D for just about anything.

I have an outgoing DD 3 3/4 and a DS will be one year and a week by the time we get on the cruise. Anyone else have a little one who will be in the 3-5 year group?

Hey veteran Disney Cruisers....has anyone just went and shopped at Nassau? My MIL doesn't want to do any tours, she just wants to shop. Do we take a cab somewhere and how do I know where to go? Any ideas?

I have a slightly shy DD4 that warms up quickly. Looking for anything that gets her in the club so DW and I can have quiet time.

I'm not liking the cold snap in FL. Who's in charge of warming things up before we get there?

There are lots of little shops around the pier. To enter the city from the dock, you go through their market place. There are a bunch of vendors selling stuff there and you can haggle the prices. Once you leave the market place, there are other shops within walking distance.

I would only say to walk in groups, as you get people coming up and trying to sell you stuff you may not want. But last time we were there, they had the police walking about too, so it was little better.

If you decide to ride a taxi, negotiate the price before you go. I don't remember meters like in cabs around here and they will deal per person.
