December 17, 2006 4-Night Wonder Cruise

I think meeting around 3:00 sounds fine. We have a shuttle taking us to the ship at 10:00 am so as soon as they say we can get on board, we're off and running. :cool1: I'm sure our kids will want to hit the pool too. So, what about meeting somewhere around the pool so if the kids are swimming, they can jump out for a few minutes and jump back in. How about in front of Pluto's dog house snack bar which according to the pictures I've seen is right beside the big slide going into Mickey's pool. If, I'm wrong please let me know, I'm just going on what I've seen on the website.
Honestly, Deck 9 around the Mickey Pool is probably THE most congested area on the ship at most times especially that first day. We could not worry about it and just form a group to one side, say back against the windows but you wouldn't be poolside to watch little ones.
Maybe we could meet earlier then people who want to swim up until the lifeboat drill would have that time?

We met in the Promenade Lounge before, although I think we had a larger group and fewer young kids.

Maybe if we want the meet to be just a short break from swimming we could pick an area on deck 10 above the Mickey pool. Of course, this is all weather pending! If it is just not swimming weather that afternoon anyway, the Promenade Lounge is as good as anywhere!

Any other thoughts?

Marcy

We are hoping to get to the terminal around 11 or so on the 17th. Then I guess we will not have any firm plans for the afternoon. Anytime or place will be fine. :sunny:

I read this to mean that we probably won't have Santa on our cruise. Is that right?

Hey Tammy, I emailed the DCL and asked about holiday happenings on board during our 4-night cruise, also asking if we would have Santa on board and this was the reply that I received:

During the Holiday Season, we will have decorations throughout the
Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, and holiday tunes will fill the halls
and our terminal. We will also offer a Treelighting Ceremony, holiday
carolers, and our chefs' masterpiece Gingerbread House for everyone to
view in the atrium lobby. Our youth activities will host many holiday
activities for our younger Guests, and we will show special holiday
movies (Disney and other classics).

Please check your Personal Navigator once onboard for exact time and
location of events and activities, as these are subject to change.

We look forward to sailing with you! Have a Magical Day!

So, I'm guessing that we won't have Santa on board :sad1:

However, it will be a great cruise!!!

No Santa?!?!?!?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Even though we'll be on a Disney Cruise, in tropical waters, with amazing sunsets, delicious food, fun around every corner, plush surroundings, private tropical island, sunny skies, warm weather, far away from the real world, and having the time of our lives.............the fact that there's no santa means I'll be miserable

pirate: Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr! hahahaha.

Just kidding.

Hey everybody! It is getting close! Can you hear the waves? The sound of a distant drum? Oh wait...that is my washing machine. Never mind. :sunny:

O.K. so I'm bored at work. I found this on a 2004 All Ears report I think from 12/7 cruise.
The Disney Wonder had a beautiful Christmas tree in the atrium, just outside of Triton's restaurant. I lucked into being there for the tree lighting ceremony our first night on board. There were holiday songs and then Mickey, Minnie, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (aka Pluto), and Santa Goofy came down the stairs to light the tree. Not only did they sprinkle the crowd with Pixie Dust, but as the tree lights came on, the snow began to fall. It was very magical

Gotta Love Santa Goofy.

Does anybody know the bus schedule from the resorts to the ship? I'm thinking of getting to the ship 12:30 or so. Lunch, check out the kids areas, meet you people, swim. Never a dull moment.

Thanks Grumpy! That would be nice, I will have to put the tree lighting ceremony on my list of things to do. Sounds great!

Last time we went on the cruise, we had to be ready to board the cruise bus by 9:30 at Poly. It was an 65 minute ride with a movie on board. Then you go though check in and so on. I believe we boarded the ship around 11 and then Parrot Cay had lunch for us. Back then they had the soda cups for sale as you walked into parrot cay.

:santa:

We are renting a car. We are doing two days at Disney before the cruise and then two days at Disney after the cruise. This will be cheaper than the transfers and we will have a car at Disney incase we need it. On the morning of the cruise, we are going to do laundry and then take off for the cruise. Hope to get there really early and get the party started.

Disneyland "primer" last weekend was just o.k. (very crowded). :crowded: It reminded me as to why we fly cross country to do WDW and DCL. We rented a car (to and from) with Budget when we did the 7-day eastern in March (as recommended by this website) and it went very smooth with p/u, drop-off, timing, etc., so we are doing it again. :car: I could only talk my DW into 1 extra day at WDW so we are staying at the Poly and going to MVMCP the night we get back from the cruise. We did this last year and my DD8 princess: got to "light" the x-mas tree on main street. I highly recommend to anyone going to WDW before or after to do the very merry christmas party.
Unfortuantely , we have a 7 am flight to Chicago the next morning (ouch).

Hey everybody, I have seen on some threads people mentioning getting cruise travel kits, I never got one. Did anyone else get a cruise travel kit?

It didn't sound like many of you were going to Atlantis, but I thought I would give you this FYI anyway. On travelocity, I booked a room for Monday under a Nov/Dec promo for $123.75 + tax (beach tower). With a room you get access to entire hotel, aquarium, pool, slides, beach, etc. The Disney Atlantis beach day excursion, which we have done before, would cost us $245 ($65 10-up and $47 3-9) and you only get beach access. Even with cab fare and lunch, the room is a much better deal....

Hey, this does sound like a good price. I checked into it and with "taxes and fees, it comes to $181.83. I've heard that lunch could be quite expensive here, however.
My only concern is if the weather is not warm enough to take advantage of the pools, slides, and beaches. Having only been in ocean waters off Mexico & Hawaii, am I worrying too much about bad weather?
Is access to the aquarium and other areas 'free' to registered hotel guests?
This place (Atlantis) just looks amazing, I would hate to miss the opportunity to explore it, but I'll have to convince DH to spend the $$. :smooth:

I found the same deal for Atlantis Beach Towers on Expedia and they charge almost $20 less in "taxes and fees!"
We got the same room for 2 adults, 2 kids for a TOTAL of $163.44!
I am quite excited to have full access to Atlantis for the day for only that amount! :woohoo:
Maybe we can meet up with another family there for some swimming and slides? My DS5 will LOVE the aquarium. What is the DIG anyway?

Marcy

That is wonderful! Great price. I looked for that price too but couldn't find it.

Question for you guys! I filled out the online check in info and was going to print out the cruise contract and it was ghosted, even though I filled out the other documents. Has anyone else had this happen?

I figured it out!

Nice work on the Atlantis price. We will just have to wait and see if there are any additional taxes or fees. One idea is to order some room service sandwiches and snacks on the ship, bring a small cooler and bags and pack a lunch for Atlantis. I found a short description of the Dig:

Evoking the lost world of Atlantis, The Dig consists of mysterious interconnected passageways and chambers in a dedicated area of the resort. Picture windows overlook deep-water environments inhabited by underwater life ranging from sharks to eels. Visitors view the inventions and hieroglyphic language of ancient residents of Atlantis.

Tammy,
I found the same thing. I thought it was because I printed it out once and they won't let me view it again. I guess not.
My guess would be they are making changes to the language and we will have to sign the new version. Legal stuff.

You think anyone ever got to the cruise and refused to sign the contract?

Halloween - done
Election day - on deck
Thanksgiving - coming soon then down hill to the cruise.
