December 17, 2006 4-Night Wonder Cruise

Hi everyone!
I'm, of course, not counting either.... but:
13 days until we fly to Orlando!
20 days until we cruise!

We got almost 6 inches of snow today and it is suppose to snow on and off all week with temps between 15 and 30 degrees! :cold: We are sooooo ready to fly south!

We are wondering if any of you out there would like to link up ressies so as to be dinner table partners with us...
*we are scheduled for late seating (and prefer this)
*DH40, Me39, DD10almost, DS5 who will likely not eat dinner with us because he prefers his club!
*have Palo ressies for Monday night

We are the type of family that eats dinner together every night at home, and we had a table all to ourselves on our last cruise, but this time I think it would be fun to have tablemates!

Anyone interested?

Marcy

Hello everyone! After reading (lurking) on the DIS boards for months, I got the courage to register and post. My family and I are going on our first Disney cruise and I can hardly wait!! I am 44, DH 50, DD 18, DD 13, and DS 11. My husband and oldest daughter have never cruised and he is terrified due to previous sickness with deep sea fishing and snorkeling. However, he is going to premedicate and give this gift to me to celebrate my graduating from college at 44!! :cheer2:

I have read through the posts and hope to bump into some of you fine folks on the Wonder. We will be in Cat 10 Cabins. We love anything Disney and are DVC members since 1994, heading to the World after the cruise. Since my 2 youngest have cruised before, they have definite ideas about what they want to do with their time such as being at the pool and getting involved in activities...I don't expect to see much of them. DS will be hanging out at Scoops a lot. We don't have any shore excursions planned, but would like to snorkel at CC and probably DS kayak. I love December at the World and I bet the Wonder will be charming as well. Are any of you wearing the "green" I have heard about in other posts that IDs you as a DIS member? When will you veterans go to the port on Sunday?

Thanks for your patience with my questions...OH MY GOSH...ITS ALMOST HERE!!!

MAMA B

Welcome Mama B, Congrats on your degree!!!! This is our first cruise too. I am pretty excited also.

Stina, I am flying to orlando in 15 days!!!! Woo hoo to all of us!

Hours until dinner at Liberty Tree.

Forecast calls for snow tomorrow and Friday so Disney can't come soon enough.

Welcome aboard Mamab

You and the family will have fun. And congrats on the degree. I don't think I could ever go back again at my age, although I wouldn't want too.. :)

Yes, counting down the days. Now if I can only move and get settled somewhat before we leave. :sad2:

Hey Mama B,

Congrats on your degree. I just got my Assoc. degee in September but I'm still working on my Bachelors. I know how hard it is to do the college thing as an adult. I'm 37 and the brain just doesn't work like it used to... :rotfl2:

I have been patiently waiting to find another 13 year old girl for my daughter to hang out with. Would you be interested is letting them exchange email addresses so that they can chat a little bit before we go? We are doing the land part before the cruise and will be leaving on the 8th.

Has anyone got their documents yet? When should they arrive? I am anxiously waiting the opportunity to do the document dance. :sunny:

Docs should arrive next week! Hope so, anyway, we leave on the 9th! Realistically, you can take care of most of the paperwork online now... but it is fun to get something tangible so you know it really is happening!

No Takers on being tablemates with us? Don't worry, I am not taking it personally. I totally understand that a cruise such as this can be a perfect opportunity to get your family together and catch up!
And, I suspect, since we have already been on a 7 nighter, we may take our "rotational dining" a bit less seriously.

Welcome mamab! We will love to meet you too!
Did we ever set a DIS MEETS time and place?

Marcy

Hey Stina, I have early seating or I would take you up on your kind offer.

Thank you for all the tips, as well as explanation about what the "D" means.
I have an outgoing DD 3 3/4 and a DS will be one year and a week by the time we get on the cruise. Anyone else have a little one who will be in the 3-5 year group?

Deserie :wizard:

My DD is 4 and my DS will be 3 Dec 15! My DD loves making new friends. Maybe they will meet up in th club:)

My M/FIL got their papers today! Ours should be here tomorrow! Anyone else get theirs?

Hey Tammy, our travel agent told us that the paper work would be in next week, no later than the 6th she hopes. That's cutting it too close for me but what can you do???

Hey Marcy,

We had previously talked about meeting somewhere around the Mickey pool around 3:00. Of course, I'm up for anywhere. Even if the kids are swimming, we'll probably get them out around 3:00 to be dried off in time for the drill.

We need to decide by next week since some are leaving early.

You know, it would be fine if we want to meet by the Mickey Pool. In fact, we could try to meet in the gazebo on the port side aft of the pool...(Ha! I sound like a sailor--well, not the kind mom warned you about!)
Anyway, here is a picture of Christina and I there with MICK!

OMG! I make Mickey look tall!
I doubt there will be a character there that early in the cruise, and it could be a good meeting point. Or we could meet or move further back by the windows--- out of the traffic pathway by some tables. This might require pulling little kids out of the pool as you would be out of eye sight.
Does anyone else have an idea? Maybe Deck 10 just above the Mickey Pool?

Document Dance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They came yesterday and the UPS guy left them on the front porch, like always, behind a big plant and none of us saw them. But we are document dancing.

Just checked with my TA and the docs came in today :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

10 more days till we depart. Send the snow this way, we only see snow once every 2 or 3 years.

RE: Cruise meet?
I got turned around-- Not much of a sailor after all...
The gazebo I am thinking of is starboard of the Mickey pool!
It is by the spot formerly known as "Scoops" but I think is now called Goofy's Kitchen.
Would this work for y'all?

I never did get a counter for my sig this time... but one week from tomorrow and we're off to the airport!

Marcy

Okay, before I depart on this sailing adventure.....which side is starboard and which is port??? :confused3

Ginia and I'm Grumpy!! My daughter (almost 4 in a month) is very nice. Her teachers have told me that they always introduce the new shy girls to her because she likes to "take them under her wing" and make friends with them.

Question about Flounders Reef!! Do we have to change our little one's diapers, or do they do that. Just curiuos if I always need to be nearby. Also, if we use our 10 hour limit up for the cruise, but there is room available in the nursery, do they let babies go in? Any info you have is great! 16 days till we cruise! Have we decided on a meeting place yet? Near the pool is a great idea!

Thanks!
Desi

remember port has 4 letters, just like left.

starboard is right

bow is forward

aft is back

and midship is..... :D
