December 15, 2012 A Yo-HO-HO-HO Holiday Fantasy!

Is it possible to have those joining the SSM group give a short post about them and their family's likes or allergies fav characters etc just to give the givers a heads up?
It would help with gift buying/giving ideas IMHO
:thumbsup2

Ok, so we haven't done a cruise before, so I'm not sure what to put down for the gift buying ideas, but I will give it a whirl!

Wahine's family:
Linda and Kevin, married 28 yrs
Ashley, 24
David, 23 Ash's boyfriend
Travis, 20

We have no allergies
Linda likes red wines and Kev likes bitter beers (IPA's)
Kids all like nachos and cheese, but I don't know how helpful that tidbit will be. They aren't big fans of chocolate tho. I think their age will be more important.

We all like the outdoors.

Favorite characters:
Linda - Minnie
Kevin - Goofy
Ashley - Roo or Figment
David - Baloo (from jungle book)
Travis - Stitch or Eeyore

I hope this is helpful, or if there are other suggestions, let me know!!

Updated Champagne Girls info on page one....looks like we have about 25 people so far. When we get much closer in I will be needing cabin numbers in case we have to change plans once on board, so I can get messages to you. I'm thinking we should use first sea day and maybe a 4PM meet time (I know, an hour before official cocktail time, but we want to give the early diners a chance to vist for a while). I also chose 1st sea day as I like to make new friends early in the cruise, so there are more people to say "Hi" to in the halls later on! :)

Once the first San Juan itinarary returns (11/3 sail date I think), we can see if any DCL activities would warrent a change to our initial plans (and get verification that Oh La La! is open that early).

.

Just an fyi...the cabin numbers are on the cruiser list Lee posted to FB, so you will be able to get them there.

Also, I was wondering if we are still doing the DIS meet at O'Gills, what time that is, and who is organizing that meet? Sure don't want to have the Pink Champagne Ladies' meet conflict with the DIS meet! :rolleyes1 or the Man Club's meet....

Well for us -

Emily's favorite character is Goofy
Donna's favorite character is anything Beauty & The Beast
David's favorite character is Mickey Mouse

No allergies.
Emily loves chocolate shakes, (just how you can get her one of these.......I'll never know!!!) She does love most anything chocolate.
Donna, also loves chocolate - dark chocolate.
David loves fudge - no nuts. (Also David wears a large in a shirt - 33" waist in pants - would love to have a new Chevy Silverado) No, no, no, no, no that ain't right............forget about those silly things folks!!! I am so embarassed!!! My face is red!!!:headache:
Surprise us - we will like anything you can think of!!!

Never mind how to get the Chevy Silverado in the cabin door- how to get it up the gangway is the real problem.

Okay- really important info. I had heard of Tide pods or Purell 3 in 1 for making laundry easy.

This week we found All Free and Clear has a laundry pod- wanted to share in case anyone else has laundry allergy issues.
Will need the dryer sheets though.

Also- we got to see the Disney Cruise line buses. Port hole windows!!

Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani- had a great time.
transferring over to Beach Club today.
This switching for the pools is a great idea. Made me pack light and gives us a chance to try all the pools!

Kevin did find the perfect plaid shorts to wear with his hawaiian short for the Men's Meet, but I talked him out of that combo.

He's arranging the Men's Meet.
I volunteered for the Dismeet (if no one else already had)

I expect to have more details out the beginning of October and we both plan to coordinate with the other meets so nothing will compete.
Skye- back to vacation

Skye,

Love the 'truck' comments!! And glad you are now at the Beach club, cuz their pool is sooo cool :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Thanks for the details and for volunteering in organizing the DIS meet and to your Kevin for organizing the WW Man club meet. And ....for making sure it won't conflict with other meets. We will watch for the details later on :listen::listen:

Hi fellow cruisers!! Still reading through the earlier posts and finding lots of good info. :thumbsup2

A question: Since this is our first Disney cruise and we are low on the pecking order, when can we start online check-in and making reservations? :confused3

Thanks!!!

Hey there Joe. You will be able to start your online check-in 75 days from the date of the cruise. After this cruise, you will be Silver, and will be able to book 90 days from the date of the cruise. Then after your 5th Disney cruise, starting with cruise number 6, you will be Gold. Then you will be able to book 105 days from the date of the cruise. Keep on sailing!!!!:thumbsup2

Skye, once you get the Silverado on board just park it by the Christmas Tree in the Atrium.................no need to try to get it to our stateroom. Put a nice big bow on it with a nice big name tag with my name on it!!! I'll check each and every day for it. (I will be sooooooooooooooo surprised!!!):woohoo:

Hey Joe!

We are in the same :boat::boat: as you - first time cruisers! I see David already answered you, but I wanted to add that booking excursions is also 75 days prior for this cruise. I can only hope that the ones our family chose are still available on Oct 1st....::yes::::yes::::yes::

Keep on reading too:surfweb::surfweb:

Morning Everyone. I hope all have a GREAT Thursday!!!:thumbsup2

We have had a change in our plans for before the cruise. Instead of staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge again this time. We decided to stay at a different resort this time. I made our reservations at the Beach Club Resort for two days before the cruise. We all were checking out all of the different resorts at WDW and as soon as Emily saw that the Beach Club Resort has a Soda Shop, well, that was all it took for her to decide as to where we should stay. So Beach Club Resort it is!!!:woohoo: Also, I got a GREAT Florida resident rate on the room as well!!! :woohoo::banana::cool1::woohoo:

I am back from WDW:sad2::sad2: NWMom and DD are still there for a few more days. But for me back to work, start the new job today.

I am organizing the World WIde Man clulb meet @ O'Gills. As David said the more the merrier. I will be setting up the time as we get closer to not conflinct with the Pink Ladies or the DIS meet.

David, I found the perfict shorts and shirt. And now that you will be at the Beach Club, Loved the pool by the way, check out the Yacht Culb gift shop. That is were I found them.

For SSM, you can park my New Toyota Tundra right next to David's Gift. Hint,Hint,Hint.

Well back to work I go

Hi everyone,

We will be on this cruise and we are looking fwd to it. It will be our first cruise. Any cruise tips or tricks gladly accepted!

This will be our first christmas without my DH...he passed away very recently and we - my DS and DD - do not want to be home during the holidays. We are hoping the find some healing, rest, and retreat on this cruise.

Unfortunately, the cruise only takes us to Dec 22 and it is the 24 and 25th that will be hard. The 5 day Bahamian holiday cruise was more expensive for less days, plus we liked the ports on the eastern cruise. The kids also wanted either the Dream or Fantasy. So, I'm thinking of adding on a few days at WDW to get over those days but am having a terrible time deciding - which is par for the course these days. We have stayed @ the poly and WL in the past. Practically speaking, I'm leaning toward a mod, but my heart isn't in it. I would love to stay at YC, but I'm having a hard time justifying the extra cost, especially if the kids want to spend most of their time in the parks.

:confused3 Any thoughts???

Anyway, I've read a few posts here and wanted to introduce us.

1st off, I am sorry for your loss.

Welcome to our group, it is a wonderful group that we have here. From 1st time cruisers to seasoned cruisers. Feel free to ask any questions you have. Someone here will know the answer or can find it for you. The only other time we stayed at Christmas we stayed at WL. The tall tree and fireplace in the main lobby were fantastic. This time after the cruise we are staying at BLT's

Well Torri let me be the first to :welcome::welcome::welcome: you and your family to the cruise!!! So glad ya'll could join us!!!:cool1::banana::woohoo::thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Best advice I can offer is to put everything behind you, forget about everything for awhile and relax and enjoy your cruise. There is so much to do while on board the ship, it will keep you plenty busy!!! But you can choose to do as much or as little as you want. Don't miss the shows though on board. They are EXCELLENT!!!

As far as deciding on which resort to saty at - they are all Great in my opinion. And, as you said your DD & DS are going to want to be a the parks as much as possible. We always have liked the Caribbean Beach Resort. It is a nice moderatly priced resort. but there are so many to choose from - it is a hard decision!!!

But, Welcome aboard, and glad you are sailing with us Torri!!!:thumbsup2

Hey Kevin,

Just so you know, I just made the suggestion that on FB there's a tab for events and you can add the World Wide Man Club meet there as an event. So far, Jacqueline has the Champagne Pink Ladies meet added and Lee has the DIS Cruising Today meet added too.

Hope you enjoyed the Beach Club - we sure did last May! And good luck with the new job:cheer2::cheer2:

Hi Tori - welcome :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I first want to extend our sympathies to you and your DD and DS. Prayers will be with you on your first xmas as a new type of family.

I will second and third David's and Kevin's comments. This is a fun group! My family and I are also first timers on DCL. You can be as involved or detached in this group as you wish. I would strongly suggest you take the time to read all the posts, even tho there's a lot of them here, especially in the beginning where the talk is about the different meets we are doing as a group (and subgroups) and the cruiser list we have going (and cruiser website) along with a private Facebook page with more details.

If you just can't do that, here's a recap along with the person coordinating, or is the point-person (and others can chime in if I miss something)

DIS board meet (Luveeyore - Lee)
Pink Champagne Ladies meet (ibouncetoo - Jacqueline)
World Wide Man Club meet (NWdad - Kevin)
Flash mob dance for teens (can't remember who's coordinating)

To get in on any of these next ones, PM (private message) Luveeyore - Lee. I don't know if you are new to the DIS board too, but in case you are, you need 10 posts to PM anyone else. So read and reply to other posts :surfweb::surfweb:

Secret Mickey gift exchange (Luveeyore - Lee)
Fish Extenders gift exchange (Luveeyore - Lee)
Facebook page (Luveeyore - Lee)
Cruiser list & website (Luveeyore - Lee)

BTW, what are the ages of your DS and DD? I have a DD24, her DDBF23 (boyfriend), and my DS20.
