howdy y'all -
it's been several weeks since my last posting.
i just didn't feel like i had enough stress in my life getting ready for the cruise so i decided to try to buy a house and sell my house at the same time!!! it gets better, if it all works out we'll close escrow ten days after we get home from florida, what a brilliant idea!!
i'll be easy to spot on the magic, i'll be the one carrying around legal size stacks of escrow documents with my drink of the day!
hope everyone is having fun preparing for our big adventure.

Hi. We will be on this cruise---it was sort of a last minute thing for us. We will have 2 Cat 11 rooms side by side because that was all that was left. However they are the ones that are "sideways". Has anyone ever sailed in those? How is the room layed out? I'm trying to figure it out.

Also I am looking for a friend for my daughter who is 10. Her older brother usually sails with us and this is the first trip that he won't be along. Anyone else have a semi-shy daughter that you want to introduce?

I can't seem to think about anything else lately but this trip. I am nervous, excited, you name it. Is there any must haves to pack for the trip from those experienced cruisers. I put the suitcases out. As well Andrea do you have the link or let me know where you found the navigators.

We should be to the hotel by 6 and I think we're gonna grab a quick bite to eat then I'm gonna head over to Walmart to pick up bottled water, beer, & a few other necessities that I don't want to pack all the way from Cali...

WOW!! Gone a few days and the board is exploding. Took me a while to catch up. I love it, the excitement is catching.

Lucinda, we went to visit our DD Michel, SIL and grandchildren in Yuba City, CA. Had a wonderful time taking them to 6 Flags Discovery Kingdom and San Francisco.

Andrea-2:30 at the pool works for me, my doctor said I should be off my meds by than and ready for a "Let's get this party started" drink.

Marcy-3:00 in the Promenade Lounge sounds like a great plan.

Welcome to Karen, Deb and Kerri. Deb, my GD Katelynn 9 (10 in May) is also a little shy. It will be great for her to meet your daughter and the other girls from our group.

Katherine & Sommer welcome back. Sommer congrats on your new home.

Our DD Kathie & family will here tonight, Katelynn has a Gymnastic meet Sat. in Phoenix. Hope to find some time to go over cruise plans and finish our FE gifts. I agree the men are hard to figure out.

Andrea, how much water, beer, etc do you buy and how do you get it on the ship? Charlie

I buy 2 cases of water (we are all BIG water drinkers so it's mostly for in the room and excursions...we can drink ship water otherwise), a case of beer for DH and a bottle of whatever I am hakering for (usually Jose Cuervo Gold premixed margaritas although lately I have been a Margaritaville tequila fan). We pack our collapsable cooler for the flight then pull it out and put the beer & liquor in it when we get there. We check all of it (including water) and it's in our room on ice when we get there!

it's not a done deal yet, we still have 3-4 contingencies to fulfill by 11/23.
i'm wishing i had done more shopping for cruise clothes, i can't find any shorts. maybe the outlets still have some leftover? oh well, there's always key west, right? tell me they have shorts for sale in florida in december?
has everyone had their cold virus yet? all three of us have been through 2 full cycles , here's hoping we'll be well on the magic

I took the kids for their "mandatory per DCL" flu shots on Tuesday which was funny in and of itself, but the kids told Mandy's kids that they "have to" get the shot or DCL won't let them on the ship (their interpretation of my actual words which were "you're not going on this cruise without one because I AM NOT sitting in the cabin with you quarantined all week!") and Mandy's kids freaked out. Then when Mandy told her kids it wasn't mandatory MY kids freaked out becuase it wasn't fair that they had to get them and Zach & Ben don't.
"I won't be sitting in the room with Zach & Ben if they get sick" was all I could come up with...Here's hoping Mandy won't be either just one more thing to stress about and it's ALL MY FAULT!

Funny story about the kids and their flu shots!
guess one has to be careful how you word things to the kids... they can be clever!
We went for some other shots for my DD, DS came along and the nurse talked them both into flu shots. I was shocked at DS7 casually agreeing! Those "kindergarten" shots must be a distant memory. They get so grown up so fast.

However-- this is kind of funny... about how they just want to be kids too...
My DS read a book at school that had a "spoiler alert" at the beginning. Not sure he knew what that meant. Basically it was a book about Dad and the Toothfairy, revealing at the end that they were one in the same. I was volunteering in the class that day and asked him what he thought of the book... he didn't believe it at all. Nope. There still is a toothfairy, and in fact, he visited again just the other day!
I told him that Tinkerbell takes over for the toothfairy on the Disney Magic, he wasn't sure about that, but started checking for any more loose teeth!

Yeah, I am also lurking about. Can't help this addiction you know.

My DS Justin (10) freaked out with his Hep A shot, he yanked his arm away and had to be poked twice. Then just cried for his flu shot. not a happy camper.

Hey thanks everyone for the links, wow Marcy what a packing list. Lots of good ideas on it. I especially like the idea of taking a power bar along to charge everything.

Lookin forward to the cruise meet, I just hope me make it there.
