Hello night owls! Yes, I am a lurker too, but I have also been over on the CB checking the racing page.

DS is spending his FIRST night away from me with the Boy Scouts and he just called me wanting to come home. It is 11:40 at night! We have camped with the cubs many many times but I have ALWAYS been with him. He is a senior Webelo this year and crosses over to Boy Scouts in Feb. So this is one of those campouts he has to do to fulfill one of his Arrow of Light requirements.

DH and I are suppose to leave for the NASCAR race in Homestead tomorrow night while he went to the camporee with the scouts. I don't know wether to try and convince him to stay with the scouts or let him just come with us to the race?

Looks like everyone is getting pretty excited. I just know I can't wait to get on that ship!

Aww Michele! I would definately have him try to stick it out. I tried that at summer camp. Would call and Mom said she had an errand or was busy and to call back in an hour. Well I did, something else came up, call back she said. I forgot all about calling her back and stayed the whole week.

I am very jealous of Homestead!! Hope you can go!

Lucinda he is such a momma's boy, I should be ashamed! This is when I am torn between trying to make him grow up a bit or letting him continue to be a cling on.

One way or another I am going to Homestead, Even if he has to go with. We have had these seats since the second year they raced there and we pay good money for the tickets. Both of the kids use to go with us but DD works now so the last couple years It has been just DH and I or DH and 3 of his best friends while I stayed home with DS. With Greg Biffle 3rd in points I really want to go this year.

Michele, I would honestly let him try to tough it out. He is what in the 4th grade or so? If he goes on to Boy Scouts he will have to do overnights I assume? It is going to be harder on you than him...
But he has to gain some independance sometime. I remember when I let Katie do her first sleepover at her cousins last year. I was up all night walking the floor waiting for that phone to ring...it never did!

Thanks for the pep talk Lucinda. He has stayed at friends before and I DID get the call.... I went and got him.....bad mom

He is in the 5th grade so he does need to get out and become independent. YES, It is harder on me I CONFESS now that you twisted my arm.

Well have to get up early for opening ceremonies at the camporee, yes I am going so I can pick up DH who is there with him but in his own tent. I also have to get few pictures of him and his Webelo buddies.

I stay logged on most of the time but when I turn my computer off so will the light and I do log off the internet and that makes the light go out..

Yeah, I am also lurking about. Can't help this addiction you know.

My DS Justin (10) freaked out with his Hep A shot, he yanked his arm away and had to be poked twice. Then just cried for his flu shot. not a happy camper.

Hey thanks everyone for the links, wow Marcy what a packing list. Lots of good ideas on it. I especially like the idea of taking a power bar along to charge everything.

Lookin forward to the cruise meet, I just hope me make it there.

Madi did something similar, must be the age. She was cool as a cucumber the entire time until the nurse went to stick her then she yells "wait, why do I have to have it in that arm?" The nurse says "you don't, you can turn around". Madi stands up, fakes left screams "YOU"RE NOT GIVING ME A SHOT" and runs for the door. Matt was standing outside the door with the others and hears the commotion and barrels through the door at the same time Madi is about to break free and knocks her to the ground with the door! It was like the 3 stooges, I tell ya. I couldn't stop laughing, the nurse was worried that Madi was mad at her and Matt had Madi in an arm lock pushing her back in the room. I could have been famous on you tube if we had recorded it, it was classic. Everybody else just took it like a trooper.
Our pediatrician is an infectious disease specialist who specialized in NICU infectious disease and travel infections. He wouldn't let the kids leave without their Hep A boosters (says it's raging in southern Mexico right now) so that was an extra special trear for all of them!
The whole way home was "Zack and Ben didn't have to have shots and we had to have 2!" I took them out for Japanese food for dinner and they got over it!
