Oodles
They had a make your own gingerbread house activity last year. I think they did this several times over the course of the week.
For those of you who haven't figured it out yet, I'm CHEAP.![]()
I finished any shopping I had to do for this trip this past weekend....and even finished all my Christmas shopping! I'm all wrapped and ready to go in that aspect.
I just need to start packing but I won't start getting that all together until next week. I have to put our boxes for shipping together, as well so I can start putting that together right away. I just want to get Thanksgiving under wraps and I will begin the real down and dirty work.
I'm so excited!
Our kids have NO IDEA about this trip. None. The look on their faces when they spot the ship for the first time is going to be awesome. They bug us everyday to go on Mickey Boat.We usually just say something like, "Yeah, someday again we'll get on the ship." Ha ha! They have no clue what is going to hit them. LOL
I wish now I had kept this a secret from my kids and we had just picked them up from school on Friday and gone!!!
How old are your kids? My kids loved our last trip on the "Mickey Boat." We got off a 3-day and had a 4 day trip over Spring Break to the parks...my kids didn't want to go to the parks. They were so pampered on the ship they had NO desire to wait in lines!
So, you're just going to wait until you are close to the ship. That is so cool. I do love the sight of the ship and the anticipation that comes with it. Very exciting. Where will they think you are going until that point?
They are only 2 and 4 so it will be interesting. First they have no idea they're going anywhere. Friday morning I'm having our nanny take them out of the house for a few hours so they don't see me scrambling around like crazy. Then their first surprise will be us flying out (they love the airport). I am not sure what we're going to tell them yet about where we're flying to at that point. We haven't decided.
Then when they realize where we're going and that we're staying at BLT the night before the cruise they'll be jumping around I'm sure. In the morning we'll do some things around BLT and maybe catch a few rides at MK before we drive to Port. We aren't in a huge hurry to get to Port Canaveral but they won't know where we're driving to until we see the ship up and over the bridge. I think that they will start flipping out at that point.![]()
SInce they already know, use the anticipation factor. I'm sure you can work it to your advantage.
I wish I could have used it this morning to get them out of bed and to school. "No, you can't miss school today because if you are going to miss 5 days in December to see Mickey!"
And actually, I'm just way too excited to keep this a secret.![]()

Really, given DD9s reaction, it is best we didn't! She wasn't too happy. We were already scheduled to go to San Diego and Disneyland in February, but that wasn't working out in a few ways, so when the deal came up for us to go on this cruise, I had to take it and cancel that trip! She would have been crying boarding the cruiseship. So, its best we got that out of the way and she has learned about the cruise stuff and can be excited!
so I can imagine the reaction of the change in plans. This cruise was too good for me to pass up too.: Had planned on WDW in May for a week...but a change of plans is very good for us. DH really relaxes better on a cruise. And we've had a wacky fall. Need the break and the kids will be fine missing school.
This is us as well!! We need this cruise bad and right now the kids missing school isn't an issue...especialy the week they are missing. Missing early Feb. would have been harder on DD9 actually.
I am seriously considering leaving my laptop behind!!! I am a Travel Agent though and I have a client leaving on two week trip around Italy and on a cruise themselves that leaves on the 19th and I am SOOO afraid of something going wrong for them and me not being reachable. So, not sure what to do about that. I know if I bring it, I willl not relax as much overall, since I will have that draw to get online and do my usually stuff (Facebook, and emails about things that CAN wait).
Decisions decisions!!!
Is your 9 year old a boy or girl?? We will have to hook them up!
