December 11, 2010 7 Night Western Magic (Part DEUX)

Is there anything in particular that you would recommend that people should see or do while they are there?
 It depends on what you are looking for. Key West has become very touristy since the cruise ships started coming. It has helped with the economy.

My daughter and I plan to walk over and tour Fort Taylor Zachary a short walk from the cruise dock. And the beach there is fantastic. Snorkeling is ok too. we are history buffs.

If you never have been on the Conch tour train it is interesting.
You will get an idea of what the island is all about.

Thanks for the link. I will be sure to check it out.

I have been on the tour train before and we did enjoy that.

Edited to add: I just noticed that you are from Jacksonville. I have a friend that lives there. I met her through the DIS board and we actually do get together in person. We have cruised together several times now!

Wow! that is so cool. :cool2:
I have been living here full time about 7 years. Before that I lived for 30 years in South Florida, I traveled here to Jax to see family every month.
After getting hit with two hurricanes I moved to Jacksonville. Much safer.:goodvibes

This will be my second DCL cruise. My Daughters 5th DCL cruise. She is a cast member at D.A.K.
So looking forward to this cruise.:woohoo:

We are all looking forward to cruising too.

This is DCL cruise # 13 for my husband and myself. My daughter I think is at # 7, my son and my mother are both on Disney Cruise #3 and the other two have never cruised before.

:thumbsup2

Cruisin,
You have so many cruises under your belt. I know who to ask now about
DCL cruisin. :flower3: :thumbsup2
You have a nice big group along with you this time. What fun.

We need to name our cruise something nice. Any suggestion?

Early Christmas gift cruise?:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

:confused3 I don't know. I'm no good at that stuff, maybe somebody else has an idea. After one of my cruises we started to refer to ourselves as the Disney Wonder Dancing Queens because we spent a lot of time in the clubs at night:rotfl: When the DJ knows a lot of your group by name, is that a bad thing:upsidedow

And those are only my Disney Cruise Line cruises

You can ask any questions you like and I can try to answer them. When it comes to ports and excursions and stuff, I don't have a lot of answers for those things.

Yes it is so nice to have the family all coming along together again. The last time we went as a whole family was 2001. No fiancees or boyfriends way back then.

There is still some doubt as to whether my son and his fiance will be able to come or not. He is a paramedic. He does not have his vacation time approved yet but hopefully it will all work out okay.

I was thinking something along the lines of the "skeleton cruise" since it's bare bones...

Maybe with a Jack Skellington "Nightmare before Christmas" theme lol

How about just Christmas skeleton cruise? Easier to fit on stuff. Only we will know what it means.

re: brunch at Palo I made our reservations at 90 days but went in at 75 to try to get reservations for my inlaws. The odd thing was that there was still brunch showing for me under our name as being available but nothing for my inlaws. Weird. I booked them for dinner only and hope that I can add them to our brunch reservation.

What do you all think?[/QUOTE]

great job:thanks:

I really really like Tim burton

Very Creative, but as one who is traveling with young daughters, I would be open to other options (that is if it is even up for discussion)

But again very creative and I love it!!

I checked on mine last night since I was hoping to get my son and his girlfriend into brunch also at the 75 days out and there was no availability either.

When I looked at their reservations, no brunch was available.

When I went in under my own reservation then yes there was brunch available and even at the time that I wanted but only for tables of 3 or 4 :confused3

So I thought, maybe since I already have brunch booked for the 3 of us (me, husband and mom) then maybe I can get the other two booked in under mine.

Put the reservation thru and now my husband, son and his girlfriend are booked into brunch and my mother and I have been cancelled out :sad2:

Oh, well. Guess I will get it straightened out onboard the ship if they don't open smaller tables before then.

So Inkmahm, I think the deal was that they were only booking table for 3 or 4 and if you tried to get one with a reservation of two people, it wouldn't work.:confused3

I am at work today so no photoshop for me! But I can come up with an alternative logo for "Magic Before Christmas" or something else if someone gives me an idea when I get home tonight.

Anyone?

So..We paid off the cruise, paid off our car on Tuesday everything is ROSEY!:cloud9:

The air conditioning on the car is going haywire- hot engine air is blowing through the driver's side only and it's been 110-117 here all week so it's time to get that fixed.

Turns out, we have a cracked cylinder head and the engine is totally filled with gunk which is causing the thermostat to act funky which makes the hot air blow into the car...to the tune of $6500 for a NEW ENGINE! :scared1:Is it too late to say I can live with the hot engine air blowing on me?

I'd cry because we don't have that money growing on our tree right now, but...I guess it's better it happened AFTER I paid off the cruise cause we would have cancelled if it was a month ago (that twisted Disney logic working)...

OK feel free to resume happy thoughts and giddy excitement!:dance3:

:hug:All good thoughts and wishes going out to you. Hoping there is a cheaper way to fix your car. No one needs the car stress.
